Don't look so amazed youngsters. Yes, this is a mash-up from the 80s. Just like many things you are experiencing today in the music world, we laid the foundation.
Yes it is. This is Italy's CLUBHOUSE's two-song mashup re-recorded note for note here in America by Detroit-based band SLINGSHOT for America's dance floors. There is a very rare THIRD version of this mashup by NY's BROOKLYN EXPRESS as well.
The person singing is my uncle, Victor J Faster. He died today 9-23-10 at 12:00, I searched for this song just to hear him again. Thanks to all that love this remix, if you dont remember it was number one on the charts for a couple weeks, I think in 1983.
I remember the DJ's actually mixing these two songs together for real on the dancefloor in the late 80's and early 90's and I was so impressed that those two songs went together so well.....One minute I think I am dancing to Billy Jean, then the next, it's Steely Dan's Do it Again. It was amazing. This sounds a little too ORGANISH...too much use of the Organ but these DJ's used both albums to get this sound. It was amazing.
I remember a friend of mine in new York that did this exact version, his name Vick Faster,I used to park his little gold Toyota wagon at st. Charles garage on east 60th street in Manhattan, some wonderful memories 😌

I was ignorant to the Steely Dan song sampled in this until my wife played it to me - as soon as I heard it I said 'ah, this was used in a song that combined it with Billie Jean'.
I read that one of the members is David Van DePitte - is that the same man who used to work for Motown? If so, I read he passed away couple of weeks ago on August 9 from cancer at age 67
Michael Jackson told Daryl Hall that he got the basic melody for his song "Billy Jean" from the Hall & Oates tune "I Can't Go for That"...and maybe Hall & Oates got their melody from Steely Dan's "Do It Again"?!
Uh no. MJ got that song from Do It Again. He might a tiny part from Hall & Oates but the rest of that song is clearly Steely Dan. MJ borrowing the melody from Do It Again has probably got to be one of the best kept secrets in Modern Music History.
Brilliant. I was 16 years old when this song came out. I Lived it. ❤️
I remember I was 6 years old, when this mashup mix came out over 41 years ago, amazing mash up track, I was in my primary school at the time,
as pessoas de sucesso
Don't look so amazed youngsters. Yes, this is a mash-up from the 80s.
Just like many things you are experiencing today in the music world, we laid the foundation.
Yeah, but this was better.

Disco era created a LOT of one hit wonders!

bigleftlcn sorry to hear your loss, this is my favorites
Steely Dan was the singer
(in the original of course, it would be Donald Fagen of Steely Dan, this is medley / remix) and my condolences, your uncle had a nice voice!
Rest in Peace!! Greetings from Mexico!!!
Man I hunted it down too, your uncle was a good friend of mine, helluva great guy,,so sorry about his passing, my heart is broken 😢
Brings me back to my childhood days of hanging out at the beach for most of the day and even well into the night. Great memories!
I have the Clubhouse 12 inch. Very similar. Love it.
Great mashup! I’ve heard that this is the first known mashup! Flawless!
I have never heard this mash before. Well done!! I am sharing this with everyone I know.
This is really cool. Song was a good candidate for disco! I wonder if Fagen and co. ever heard it.
REMEMBERING WALTER BECKER (FEBRUARY 20, 1950 - SEPTEMBER 03, 2017).[02/20/2019]
Heard this on Sirous last night and It blew me away. Good job!
I thought I imagine this jam, but know I used to hear it all the time on Majic 108 back in the day! Peace, and thanks for posting!
Bellissima anche questa versione
this song hit Number on Billboard's Dance chart in the summer of 1983 :)

This is cool.
Kids today would freak at this because they think they reinvented the wheel
Thank you Thank you, thank you. Did I say thank you? Just in case I did not say thank you.........THANK YOU
who'd have thunk it? sounds fabulous!
then after MJ, came "I Can't Go For That" by Hall & Oates. Hall admitted to taking a little from that type of 4/4 groove of MJ's. it's all good.
Really because I Can’t Go for That was recorded in March 1981, released in November, Billie Jean came out in 1983.
Slingshot was a studio band located from Detroit Michigan. Members include Jack Tann, Greg Sawton, David Van DePitte and John Lewis.
Respect and much love to my beloved Motor City.
BRILLIANT.
I remember back in the day thinking WOW, how cool that these fit so well.
It still sounded good!

Walter Becker will be missed. RIP 😢😢.
Well, it's actually from about 1972-1973.
No, I graduated high school in 73 and was in my in 77 and Vick brought me a demo after that
@razorblademail THIS WAS THE FIRST MASH-UP EVER.
Yes but that wasn't a mash-up but a cover ragga version, a few years after, I rememeber I spinned that cake
What about SHINEHEAD'S version????
That was good too.
La vieja escuela.
lo quiero
this has gotta be CLUBHOUSE is it not?????
I actually have the original vinyl of this song.
Long play large 45 disc
RIP Walter Becker.
Club House version so much better, it fucks with Steely Dan through unexpected repetitions. Also stronger vocal. Check it out!
