- Here we are back at this pocket AGAIN! and sure enough it keeps giving us GOLD and lots of it. Pete and I finally removed the one big bolder that was sitting in the pocket to get to the ancient gravels below. and what we found will keep us coming back for more and more!

My dad and I used to go gold panning in Alberta. We never found anything great, but we always found something. My funniest memory is us talking to a farmer friend of his who was skeptical about there being any gold in the area. My dad returned to his pick up, grabbed his gold pan and a garden hose, and put a scoop of the gravel driveway in it. Sure enough there were a couple of tiny pieces of flour gold in it. The farmer’s jaw sagged and kept looking at it and his driveway, not able to believe he’d been driving over gold for years. Good times.

I love prospecting in the winter despite the cold since the rivers are much lower and you can walk right out to some nice deposits.

That sea of heavily moss covered rock tops, just makes for some wonderfully vivid footage.
I would make it a habit to get lost there any given day.
It's one of those places where finding NUGS is bonus.

What makes the gold form in the flakes/pickers like that? Is it hydraulic fracturing of the rock and then deposition into those formed cracks?
Could you use the shape to have a guess at where the gold might be in the bed rock?
Also loving the landscape, the Fraser is a beautiful part of the world in the sunshine, even if a bit chilly in Feb...
all those pickers are already day but it makes me wonder how many are down in that hole that goes off in to that abis.and what's down there. thank you for sharing the adventure and the gold.
