am sorry to hear you feel that way. I've often times considered this myself (even now) despite all my latest achievements but reasons I feel it may not be time to throw in the towel yet. I've at long last reached the diamond league in duolingo. something I haven't been able to do until recently and that's cause I hit some of my highest scores last month putting in the extra numbers to reach goal or comprehension skills and through that I'm able to reach higher in my learning ability. Secondly what is to be come of my learning if I just quit? well. There not so easy to forget for one. Two once you know a word and what it means you will always know that word. So the idea is to build on that and three. if it's not something you really enjoy doing or no longer have the patience to set aside time for it then maybe it isn't your thing. but just cause it's not falling into place in the timely fashion you would've liked don't mean that it isn't. So all depending on your interpretation of this can weigh heavily on playing the decider if it's what's best for you. I think anyone studying anything is apt to face this period of doubt at some point regardless of how well they've managed to learn it /not learn it etc. So I highly encourage to think this through even if you're on the cusp of quitting. Sometimes all it takes a reintroduction to the passion that drove you into wanting to learn it all depending on you. your motives. as well as your reasons for wanting to learn it. Then the shadowy thought of it being learned only to not serve you much purpose may also have a weight in this and again this all comes from your reasons to wanna get better at it and learn it to begin with. my main reason is for comprehension. Not solely to be able to speak it but understand it. So I always think I'll have that want or need going either way just to sharpen your thinking. if you're staring to feel somewhat dismayed with the learning or are falling off your trek to mastering it I highly encourage checking into Steve's channel in fact he just released a video stating don't try to learn the basics. it might be time for a heightened approach to better your language learning skills. (again) all depending on you!
Okay I just wanna comment real quick because I feel you. Basically what I've done is I've essential stopped learning Spanish, I've just incorporated the use of Spanish in my life. Audiobooks, music, podcasts and videos (while I'm doing something else) are my go to now. If you were to look at my calendar you wouldn't even know that I was learning Spanish. Additionally I put a limit on this. 2 hours of comprehensible input and after that no more, even if I feel like doing more I stop myself.

I say it depends on some factors of what your going to do with the language. I'm learning Spanish, but I much rather learn italian, I love the Italian language. Spanish is more practical since more spanish speakers live in the United States vs other foreign language speakers. Then you have 21 countries that speak Spanish and I think spanish is number 2 or 3 most spoken in the world. Lots of cultural learning opportunities there. Italian far as I know only has one country that speaks italian as an official language. That said I'm learning italian on the side, I put 2 hours into spanish and probably 15 mins a day into italian. Once im comfortable in spanish I plan to divide the 2 equally. Although One thing about italian is its similar since both are in the romance family, a lot of my spanish actually helps my italian...though can be confusing sometimes. What I like to do is convert what I know in spanish to italian. For example "soy estadounidense" (I'm American) I'll Translate the spanish sentence to italian "sono americano" this strengthens my spanish while I'm learning italian. I think some other factors play into it too, is the other language easier to learn or does it have a lot of resources for learning. Italian has very few resources compared to spainsh. Another thing to think about is how much motivation you have, if you don't like your current language it's going to be harder to learn imo. If you think you'd enjoy the other language more then it's something to consider.
I am quite surprised that Italian isn't spoken in more countries as an official language. There are a crazy amount of factors involved when making a decision on whether to learn multiple languages or not.
