  • Hey everyone!
Welcome back to another video… today has been a very hard hitting day for us on this dementia journey.
These days make it so difficult to keep strong, and be present in the moment… as the high emotions take over.
As always, I just wanted to highlight that I am no medical expert… and the advice I share is all from our experience on this journey.
    Thank you!

Aww Jess, I've looked after the elderly with dementia for years pleaae don't take it to heart what your nan says, she doesn't know what she's saying, if she didn't have dementia she wouldnt be talking to you like that.
Give my love to your nan x

I worked in the nhs with dementia patients and the nicest of patients can turn in the drop of a hat ! Is best not to continue the conversations spouses would stop visiting purely because it would became upsetting even if you changed subject it would still revert to the anger swearing pinching biting and saying horrible things it's better to leave on good terms it's totally out of character and upsetting you just don't have to take it personally tomorrow is another day although these outbursts may became more regular your very good Jess with your nan you've a great relationship sometimes patients can pick up on things the carers conversations have had and usually tv programmes etc X

Oh Jess 😢 what a tough day for you dear girl. You are doing a stellar job of walking this road with your lovely Nan. Sometimes this disease really throws us doesnt it. I recall a day like this with my Dad when he was palliative with Vascular Dementia where he suddenly went from being really kind and sweet (something I'd never known from him growing up) to suddenly being very verbally aggressive with me too and it was awful, like suddenly we were back to how he used to be at his most difficult. I'd gotten used to the way in which his dementia had stripped away the "Meanness" and it made it easier for me to help care for him, so when this happened it really threw me. At least with your Nan you know it's simply the disease and not who she ever was as she seems so loving and sweet with you. Sending you lots of strength for the days ahead and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you and Nan ❤

Trying to work it out is futile, really, but totally understandable. And I think it's the understanding of it which is the key....and that is dementia.
You handle it so well, though, whatever your musings of it may be because your solutions are to tell her you love her and give her a drink etc and she still responds to that positively.
Every day is a learning day. And the things you learned today may not be relevant tomorrow.
Sending you and your family lots of love and your dear Nan must be so proud of you.

Life is very cruel at times, especially your nana dose not know what she's been saying, because you said that nobody in the family is involved with the police or prison, so it seems that it's the tv or radio, she is just having a bad day today, so I'll pray that she will be ok and a better day for tomorrow, god bless nana and happiness is the best place 😊

My great grandmother had been put in the nursing room I had just became a cna the nursing home had put me on the hall where she was it was like throwing me to the wolves most nursing homes have someone with you to prep you before you go to each patient I went into her room like I would anyone she beat me up pretty bad and found out that evening that she never got up till 10 and if that didn't happen it was always that way it just set a difficult problem for the rest day my nanny and her sister was furious with the nursing home for not preparing me mostly everyday after that went pretty good I was fired not long after that for spending to much time with the patients when I reported them to the nursing home overlooked nothing was done a year or so later the nursing home was sent to shut down for neglect of the patients I'm glad they got shut down cause there was major neglect they had cnas packing wounds which a nurse is supposed to be present I went to home health after I was let go and became one of the top cnas company which was heaven sent several patients and families were happy to see me and I had experience of heartwarming hours with my patients ❤❤ love yall I hope this helps you Jess and am sending prayers for yall❤
