As a Captain I still like to watch this. Cruise ships especially those built in last decade have some amazingly powerful thrusters that move an insane amount of water.
@@mattyturbo1 Yeah, also if you were to jump in the water next to the propellers, you would actually be sucked in rather than pushed out because under water, it's actually sucking water in from the back and pushing it out to the top making it likely for you to get sucked in.
@@matthewdemarinis9047 Thanks for posting this video.. Hopefully the world will get back to normal soon. We cruise every year and missed cruising this years. This provides a little fix till then.
I imagine that's what it must have been like seeing Titanic depart Southampton on April 10 1912. It must have been amazing seeing a ship that size pull away
Man I plan on taking my girlfriend on one next year I’ve been on two before and I loved every minute every second!!😁😁I just hope her health coroperates she throws bloodclots sometimes and that’s just our concern if she throws one are their hemotalogist, and any other specialist on there that can treat it 👍🏾other than that she’s all for it as well as myself 😁😁
None of the thrusters in motion, but I did run across this vid where the bow thrusters were out of the water on an abandoned 800ft freighter up on the Great Lakes. ua-cam.com/video/nb59vyDHHe8/v-deo.html

Thank you for being as geeky as the rest of us. That was AWESOME!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi captain, how much you earn?
It is for sure a crazy thing to see and I thought the prop wash was big on the boats I work on
@@natureenthusiast660 Never enough
@@captjim11 sir, amount please
@@natureenthusiast660 he never said he was a cruise ship captain
No more tug boats, I had not been in a cruise in 20 years and took one 2 weeks ago. I was amazed at the technology of the pods!!! Great video
The Independance of the seas sounding it's horn at the same time as Allure of the seas started moving. Perfect timing!
@@daymondli6275 I got lucky!

My favorite part of day one. Thank you for that.
You are welcome!
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who geeks out on stuff like this
The Propellers are amazing 🤩
We agree!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
The main propulsion units on the cruise ship that is moving all that water are called Azi-Pods (Azimuth Pods).
Azipods but cruises have been diesel electric for a while but there is still no need for tugs because of the stern and bow thrusters
somethings are more important than having dinner with the family ! LOL
Sorry for the delayed response, but this is a funny comment!

It really was!
Imagine being the federal reserve rubbing your hands as they depart.

I miss Allure OTS,it was my home for 6 months.
Did u work there?
@@Lilian040210 yess!
I really love Oasis class
The power of the azipod and the newest Disney ship called Disney Wish will have also the latest propulsion system
Now let’s get some footage of the propeller in motion right next to it under water.

That is a cool video!
People that don’t know the name of the ship that they’re on scare the F out of me! LOL
I’d do the same too just to watch them depart haha
Did it use azipods
Yes!
Cool 😎
Azipod propulsion
People, it’s a ship NOT a boat. Always remember, you can put a boat on a ship but cannot put a ship on a boat!
I love propellers.
I was on that before you
