  • In part 5 we cover the basic principle of trap shooting, then look at hold points and pick up points. Finally I suggest an easy way to establish hold and pick up points for an OT novice.

    As a award winning Olympic Trap shooting competitor I commend your efforts. You may wish to do a video on how humidity (weather) affects target flight and messes with everything!
    Amazing explanation and video.

    Excellent video, it really breaks down the hold and pick up point.

    Just subscribed and have enjoyed your videos. I shoot mainly FU because that is the major format here in SW France our club does have a FO layout but it is only used very sparingly because all the competitions are for FU . Also because we are a shooting association the members do all the range prep themselves... reloading and calibrating 15 traps takes much longer
    than 5. For me the gun hold point, target pickup point and crucial rule of not moving the gun until you have seen the target make or break a series of either FU or FO get those three things right and you can be a bit off with foot position and still get a good score.

    i think only pic up point is important,because if gun fit correctly and mount correctly it fix naturally not too far from it.

    • @matgoodwin
      @matgoodwin  5 років тому +2

      No the hold point is important, too close to pick up point and can cause people to look at the end of the gun not the target, too far away from the pick up point a shooter can lose the relationship between the eye and the gun.
