Super Useful. Thank you for Sharing
An you do a video on skeet?
Thank you. My son is starting Olympic trap,or wants to and finds it hard to get coaching, everything is geared towards sporting
Hope it’s helpful. Where abouts are you?
@@matgoodwin we are in Ireland, concentration is mostly on sporting. Very little opportunity to follow O/T . Your simple steps give us something to work on.
Great work Sid, big thank you!
Thank you, you’re welcome, and well shot!
Very informative Matt. Great guide. Great ground, one of the best in my opinion. I’ve subscribed 🪤😁☀️💪
Thank you Julian. Nice to see you again. Griffin Lloyd is great, so lucky to have it on the doorstep.
Good job!
Thank you
Thank you so much! Your videos are always clear and simple to understand. I'm 57 and I'm a beginner. Here in Italy we are back in lockdown too and your guide at dry training is really helpful.
You are most welcome, really good to hear they are helping people, thank you for taking the time to comment. Hope things improve for you all soon, I miss coming out to Italy to shoot.
Excellent video, it really breaks down the hold and pick up point.
Thank you. There are other ways, and lots of people figure out their own way in time, but I think its a good starting point.
@@matgoodwin Absolutely, i have struggled myself with it or still struggle when range is different so it is putting method to hit and trial
I am to beginning trap shooting and I find your guide really interesting. The suggestions you purpose are clear and simply to understand. They have given to me a path to follow. I will practice it. Good job, thank you so much!
You are most welcome. Glad to hear they are helping. Let us know how you get on.
Nice work. Nice thought process.
Phenomenal instruction Matt!
Brilliant 👏
Brilliant video!
Thank you. Back into lock down again here in the UK so might have to do a remake!
@@matgoodwin we're in lockdown here too.
Looks like a great facility! Good video also.
Very lucky to have Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground just a few miles away. Excellent background and Materelli traps. Cant ask for much more.
@@matgoodwin I'm fortunate to have Pan Am games Legacy Center for Shooting Sports not crazy far away but, it's a 75 mile round trip for me...
Well done!
Great stuff!
Thank you, hope it’s helped.
@@matgoodwin Was looking forward to Part-6 about pre-shot routines and also the advanced videos on Quiet eye. Any update on those? Thank you.
@@satyamanda1815 Sorry have had a really busy couple of years. Hoping to get some more videos out in the next few months.
@@matgoodwin Sure. Thanks for the response. Looking forward to the vids.
I am 95% of my shooting time a pistol or rifle shooter. Olympic trap is something I do 5-6 times per year. My score is 10-15 birds from 25. I think, my biggest mistake is aiming with the bead on the barrel. Any tips for me to get rid of this bad habit? Thx and greetings from Germany
That is a common problem with people who shoot a lot of static target also. There really is no magic fix. Firstly have someone check your gun fit then You have to learn to stare at the clay, as if looking for the makers name on it. Make sure you are looking out away from your barrels slightly when calling for the target too. Fast trap is all about reacting to a target, it is not measured like rifle or pistol shooting. See it, shoot it.
@@matgoodwin thanks for this help ...
Just subscribed and have enjoyed your videos. I shoot mainly FU because that is the major format here in SW France our club does have a FO layout but it is only used very sparingly because all the competitions are for FU . Also because we are a shooting association the members do all the range prep themselves... reloading and calibrating 15 traps takes much longer than 5. For me the gun hold point, target pickup point and crucial rule of not moving the gun until you have seen the target make or break a series of either FU or FO get those three things right and you can be a bit off with foot position and still get a good score.
Very good tips, way better than some high profile channels
Thank you, thats good to hear.
Very nice sir Thnku
Most welcome
Nice sir very good video I appreciate you for your efforts for making and a great heart for sharing your experiences with us without any fees like others are doing today
Thank you, I hope the videos have been of some use.
Thank you. I’m 55 yo new shooter and this really helps.
Really helpful. Thanks.
You’re welcome, glad you found it useful.
Thanks for the post. Good reminders that will help break not only rust but boredom.
Well done thnx :)
Don't know how to thank you enough for all five videos related to beginners guide (as I am one of them). Thnx a lot..keep good spirit and stay well
You are very welcome, I hope they have helped you get started.
As a award winning Olympic Trap shooting competitor I commend your efforts. You may wish to do a video on how humidity (weather) affects target flight and messes with everything! Amazing explanation and video.
I commend you for putting this video out. Something that gets overlooked often but needs to be mentioned often. A good foundation as in anything is key.
Thank you Tim.
Very clear and straight forward. Well done.
Thank you.
Never shoot Olympic Trap ,I will now try it I shoot sporting and DTL thank you.
Let us know how it goes, any questions just yell.
Great job for beginners
Hi Mat so you close your left eye to line the gun with the trap house marker also
Hi Keith, I have a left master eye so found even lining up both eyes open would throw me out of line. Not necessarily how I would teach someone, but I’m largely self taught as you know so its whats worked for me over the years. 🙂
Good Job! Keep it up! Really; There is not enough content like this for this sport. I applaud your effort. (Member USA Shooting)
Thank you, really appreciate your positivity. More coming soon hopefully.
Hello, thank you on great videos. I´am starting with trap shooting and find these informations very usefull.
Another great video matt, that trick with your hand was very useful and I'll be trying that in training camp tomorrow👍👍
Just keep doing what your doing, I hear you are going great guns out there 💪🏼
@@matgoodwin I've really really enjoyed it! I wish I could stay another week!! You'll see a huge difference in everyone's shooting in the next session, especially Dewi, he's doing amazing! Fiona has also tweaked her technique a bit and it's made a big difference
Great, looking forward to seeing you all in action!
i think only pic up point is important, because if gun fit correctly and mount correctly it fix naturally not too far from it.
No the hold point is important, too close to pick up point and can cause people to look at the end of the gun not the target, too far away from the pick up point a shooter can lose the relationship between the eye and the gun.
@@matgoodwin can you make some video about quiet eye technique and how it used in trap shooting?
Sure I will give it a go, might not be for a few weeks, just got to finish this series for beginners then I will do some more advanced videos. Will add your request to the top of the list. 🙂
@@matgoodwin Was looking forward to Part-6 about pre-shot routines and also the advanced videos on Quiet eye. Any update on those? Thank you.
part 5 is most important please make it soon
Hopefully should be up in the next week or so 🙂
Very good! Sorry not to have seen you at the last seminar. Keep up the good work and do message me should you wish. John
