Hello everyone, welcome back to Age of Wonders 4! Anubis' challenge to cleanse Duat resumes with a cheeky attempt to avoid all-out war at 2:44 that ultimately ended in futility at 36:20; shortly thereafter, the most powerful Godir on the map was met at 38:51. Will the King of the Gods prove a stalwart ally or a nagging thorn? The flames of war raged on at 1:08:26 as the Holy See calls Anubis to war against his traitor brother, and the war against Teron officially begins at 1:23:03. Facing imminent doom from the Fey, myriad Infestations, and several Umbral Tyrants, the Lord of the Sacred Land makes an aggressive siege at 1:40:20 to swiftly remove the First Death Knight from his domain -- thanks for watching!
The journey through Duat was pretty much what you described it. It was divided into twelve sections, each separated by a gate that opened at its respective hour (hence each section being called an "Hour of Night.") Ra picked up allies along the way, fighting the forces of Apep/Apophis, to ensure that the sun would rise again, thus preserving Ma'at (Order). It wasn't just a journey of rebirth for the underworld, though. Ra himself was reborn as well.
@@grsy_lp it sure would be. There's a certain charm to unified territories/states that are governed or controlled by cults. Bonus if the cult is not, in fact, evil or corrupted.
Your channel has become one of my favorites! I love listening to it when I paint a warhammer or just resting from my chronic pain. Your voice is soothing, and the storytelling is chefs' kiss! Stay strong, Fable, and thank you for the amazing content!
I’ve been loving the new series so far! Your more runs where you try to start with a specific theme inspired me to try going for a themed playthrough of my own. I decided to try to try building a faction that strived for balance in all things, and I put 1 point in each affinity. I did Reavers with Chosen Uniters, Fabled Hunters, and Tome of the Tentacle. Thanks for all the consistently great AOW4 content, I look forward to watching it whenever you release a new episode.
I'd like to echo the comments that your AoW4 videos are a special treat. The longform narrative nature of them is great for listening at work or while taking care of mundane tasks. Love the Egyptian mythology mixed with Fableheim (TM) mythology
Honestly your AoW4 Campaigns are a treat i really love all of your reasoning and choices for enemy Lords, wich tomes u want, why ra is a ram etc. chefs kiss
fun tip you an watch the replay bof a fight and retry it after watching the replay so if you are baffalled by how you lost you can check how and learn from it. I hope the last player is Gor-tor bloodfied.
Love all the characters you put in these; they have such detailed and cool stories! How much time do you put into research and setup for them? It must take ages!
It depends on how familiar I am with the source of the characters and settings, but this playthrough probably took about 20 hours to set up if you count everything I did to prepare for it. My notepad is a bit of a mess because of unfamiliarity with Egyptian mythology. 😅
Just a reminder, as Shadow culture, you can ignore the negative effects of instability in cities that are your cultures. It may not affect integrated cities though. Nightfort that was integrated was your race but I don’t think free cities start with your culture?
It does work on integrated cities *if* those cities are of the Dark Culture. Ignoring the economic penalties from instability is related to their tier 2 city building, and preventing secession is related to the Overlord's Tower.
@@Fableheim ah so it needs that tier 2 building. Not that far off. I played a shadow game with my brother, always had red stability lol and none of the cities I made ever did that threaten to break off provinces thing that I’ve only read about. That was also a rough game, regenerating infestations is great for experience but very annoying to make any progress on the map.
In this particular setting, the population would continuously increase because of the living who die and come to the afterlife of Duat. In other Necromantic settings, you'd probably have to keep a living population to then become undead or get creative in their creation. XD
@@Fableheim perhaps only those who already have at least 2 children can receive the blessing of "immortality". This would ensure a growing population while encouraging people to become couples.

I think that at least one of the cities should be called Cynopolis, ya know, the capital of the cult of Anubis and all.
I think a cult type campaign in gerenall would be cool

I have just the 19 population, currently besieged city in mind for Cynopolis! 😉
@@Fableheim grand! Let this sieg go well with the blessings of The Lord of Duat

The "merging with Osiris" bit is part of the "Amduat."

43:16 "Tomb of Souls" sounds like a good spell Fabe. 😂
I'd use it! ;)
Storme Crow spreeds grass. The good earth and soile. It fits.
Fun fact; in addition to a bird and a ram, Ra was also associated with scarabs, or dung beetles.
I can fall asleep to your voice or be entranced to watch this video by your voice
I've been waiting for this
Excellent video as always, mate :D
Love you reading everything out. Enjoying the series

finally, ive been waiting ☺️
Huh curse eater is way more useful than I thought it was.
The only problem with this is it’s to long for my one hour bus ride to school
Now I was stopping to think... if you turn the entire population into undead, how do they reproduce to increase the population? (google translate)
