Man hes a type of guitarist where you can listen to him do Melodic solos for like 30 minutes or so.

@L'ren But... Syu is not his name though... It's his stage name. His real name is 修輔植田 (Shūsuke Ueda).

That moment I saw Syu with his guitar a couple of years ago, he became my number one favorite guitarist hands down

well, this is power metal. Thats why you think it's sounded the same as dragonforce. Once you see both of them performing live, you'll see the differences, quality :)
Guitarist's name is Syu the guy is a beast I've been playing guitar for a couple years now synyster gates influenced me to play then I heard syu around a year ago and was blown away I couldnt believe what I was hearing, now I practice a ton because of how much he reinfluenced me just trying to get close to his level. Anyway do more galneryus they're an awesome band!

Yep! Galneryus are f#$% awesome. The studio version of the song is like 15 min. and the string intro and the main guitar solo are actually from Tchaikovsky's violin concerto.

Yeah. Shu used to play violin when he was younger, so you could say the song is kind of an homage to the violin/Tchaikovsky. Just a really cool example of how classical and metal complement one another!

Syu (シュウ) is a hell of a guitarist. He is routinely ranked at, or near, the top of 'best Japanese guitarists' lists. I'm not really much into symphonic and/or power metal, but I have a ton of respect for everyone in this band.
Back in the day, Syu & Takayoshi Ohmura (one of the guitarists from the Kami Band) were considered the two up & coming guitar prodigies in Japan. They even did an instructional video together that is both hilarious and awesome at the same time. It can get tedious for non-musicians - but as a drummer, you're probably familiar with these type of vids. A little bit of patience in viewing is rewarded with a display of some truly face melting technique. Check it out:

Great reaction! One of the reasons why Galneryus is one of my top favourite JMetal bands is (to me) the lead singer Masatoshi Ono sounds very similar to the original singer of Yes, Jon Anderson. These guys are top notch musicians imo!

A funny thing that he didn't know about Power Metal genre, he alway use DragonForce to describe any Power Metal band xD. To be fair, Galneryus is same kind of DragonForce but they have more complex solo than DragonForce, even in live version, they don't make any mistake note when solo like DragonForce

pound for pound Syu is the best metal guitarist coming out from Japan of this current generation.
The full version of this song is 15 minutes long xD I play guitar, and I confirm that solo is just majestic.

You should really experience this LIVE and soak up the whole 17 minutes with a full string section symphony backing up the band. Syu also gets to do several solos so it should really blow you away and this MV is good but the LIVE version is spectacular!!! I play guitar, and yeah i can confirm that Syu is one of the best ever. Also "like dragonforce," they're a Power Metal band, they probably have similar influences, but youre in luck since power metal is one of the more popular metal styles in Japan. I'd reccomend Concerto Moon, however they're much older, and dont have many videos in HD

weird comparison honestly not technically the same genre and the style is not even close this song is as neoclassical as it gets that is like saying all types of speed/neoclassical metal is the same and baby metal just has Road of resistance that is similar and that's cause it was written with them personally and they have some of the writing credits also Syu and Herman lee are both beast guitarists but you can just watch them play and tell how extremely different they are Herman lee's style is very common in American and European metal he is just one of the very best whereas Syu has his own unique style going on that doesn't really seem to take inspiration from anywhere he said he was a huge fan of Hideto Motsumoto but their styles are very different too

Babymetal is not even close to dragonforce
Don't get me wrong I like Dragonforce too but I'm finding a lot of their songs are similar in structure or sounding the same. So far, every song I've listened to from Babymetal has been unique. That's all :) I like both :D
