Expect more of the same old Steelers football. Offense comes out slow, defense goes down by two scores to start the game, the Steelers wait until the 3rd quarter to adjust, throw in at least one bonehead decision by Tomlin and Pittsburgh runs out of time in the 4th quarter comeback because they wasted timeouts on stupid challenges. Lose 23-17
I used to - especially after the futility & refusal to change or adapt - but now I just laugh bc it's soooool predictable. 1st & 10: Russ PA, gets sacked. 2nd & 14: Gun run to Naj for 5. 3rd & 9: Incomplete 25+ yard pass. Punt.
I’m glad you are my steeler therapist I have Gaven up on them because of tomlin. Thank you for saving my walls and tv I would normally break lol the team doesn’t deserve that anymore from me ❤️
John Harbaugh called a guy off the couch to fix his defense when it was getting cooked. I could never see Tomlin do something like that and there lies the problem
In regards to the whole "steelers/tomlin personality" thing....i always think its a good practice to look at the most successful teams and see what they do. And what team is more successful recently than the chiefs? They have gone from an offensive juggernaut with tryeek and patty and co., to last year being completely reliant on their defense. My point being, and i believe what DK touched on, is that the chiefs "personality" is......WIN THE DAMN GAME. If you gotta run this week, run. If you gotta pass, pass. If it's a defensive slugfest, so be it. JUST WIN. Why does tomlin insist on an having an IDENTITY? The only identity that matters is being WINNERS
I’m frustrated just as all other Steeler fans are right now. Many in the media are talking about Tomlin/Arthur’s unwillingness to adapt or try different tactics on offense. It got me thinking about all of the Steelers losses…specifically losses with Russ as QB. *The 1st loss to the Browns was on a short week which featured routine defensive failures & a late muffed punt. *Fumbled toss to Najee turned the tide vs the Eagles(that game was close up until that point). *Russ had 2 turnovers that led to 14pts second game vs Ravens. *Steelers also committed 2 turnovers vs Chiefs and defense played terribly. *Steelers lost by 2 pts to a high powered Bengals team where Pickens & Muth had game changing drops. I mention those summaries in defense of Tomlin. The coaching staff’s approach on offense hasn’t been the main reason why the Steelers have been losing in recent weeks. Lack of execution/play making has been a bigger factor in the losses when you actually look at how these games unfolded. The defense stopped getting turnovers and offense started committing more of their own. Tomlin’s philosophy is rooted in conservatism with occasional deep shots down field. This approach has proven to be successful IF….the team has a healthy turnover differential. So in a way, our thoughts/feelings about the offense are a bit results biased. Tomlin relies on his highly paid defense to keep games manageable while he asks his offense execute a basic gameplan and not to turn the ball over. Neither of those things happened during the 3 game 11 day stretch. The issue with the approach is your margin for error is razor thin. Verses good teams, the Steelers could not overcome turnovers. Tomlin would rather insulate the offense and play it safe vs being more aggressive and exposing them to negativity. He’s said it himself and it makes sense. Offensively, the Steelers lack big time playmakers outside of Pickens and the OL is shaky. Warren is a great player and household name Pgh, but he’s not a world beater like Saquon or Henry. If Tomlin had more talent on offense, he’d prob be more aggressive. Many want the offense to just be more dynamic, but that can come at a cost. We’ll see how Tomlin and company approach this Ravens game given both the familiarity and the dire nature of the playoffs.
But who is involved in acquiring the talent. Find it hard to believe that Tomlin does not have a major influence on draft picks and free agent pick-ups. Have to ask if any other nfl head coach would not have any involvement in it. There is one common theme to what has gone on the last 8 years. As a lifelong Steeler fan. Sad to say I does not matter what happens on Saturday. Have little faith it will be a win. Hope they do just don't see it happening unless major changes hapoen.

As bad as we played the last game against these guys it still came down to just a few plays that if those 3 plays turn out different we probably win that game! And we also were without our top receiver and pretty much our entire secondary ! That being said, we have those guys back so I DO think there is still hope that we can actually win this game!
I felt like they would lose out a Couple weeks ago , but for some reason I feel like they can pull this game off ,..Main reason they have played Baltimore and even though they got beat there , that game had some moments were steelers had a chance to really take control, Flowers being hurt may or may not matter but he was a "pro bowl" player so its go to hurt some .
Mr. DK. I believe you said it on numerous occasions, "the players you have vs the players you wish you had" i am speaking primarily about Offense. Russ cant see middle of field real well. However he has hit Pat and Calvin both in stride in the middle. Play action? He rolled to the right and hit Pat moving in same direction, in red zone for TD. Looked like an easy 6. It seems to me that Russ has lost some of his confidence. I might be wrong, but seems like maybe he's being told to do only what he's told, taking away the 'feel' he has for the game? I believe we have the talent and ability to be more like 1st Bengals game Steelers on offense. That would be enough.
I've been a die hard fan of the Steelers since 1974 to all Steeler fans be careful what you ask for i think Tomlin is a good coach we let him go we not ever get a really good coach it's hard to win a super bowl
Tomlin took over A Super Bowl winning and Caliber Football Team with Multiple Future Hall of Famers he rode the Coat tails of a Sure Fire First Ballot Hall of Fame Quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger the Pittsburgh Steelers made Tomlin Tomlin didn't make the Pittsburgh Steelers they were Super Bowl Champs before him and I would venture to bet they can and will be Super Bowl Champs without him those are the FACTS he hasn't proven anything except that he is the best at being Mediocre he hasn't won anything without Ben until he shows he can build his own roster and win with his own Quarterback he will always have to prove it to Real Steelers Fans who knows the truth
Im so sick of hearing that narrative. The NFL is. Year to year prospect. You have to plays the games every week. They don't give out superbowls based on the the teams caliber or potential..
Tomlin should’ve been gone 7 years ago, after the Jags game. Here’s something I find amazing: starting about 5 years ago with the talk of only 3 playoff wins in 8 years, some of the older fans would say something like, “You think this is bad, you should’ve tried being a fan in the ‘80’s.” Now here we are 5 years later and now it’s 3 playoff wins in the last 13 years. Guess what? If the Steelers lose tomorrow night, this will be the worst start to any decade since the ‘60’s! That’s where we stand, that’s how embarrassing it’s actually been.
@johnbruce4003 yeah I feel you but we lost to a Jacksonville that took the Patriots to the wire and the Patriots went on to win the Superbowl that year the thing I don't like about Tomlin is that he needs to hire good coordinators we went on a 4 game losing streak but I think we get the win against the ravens
@ A win tomorrow night cures a lot of woes. I’ve been a fan for a little less time than you (1980) I can’t recall any less enthusiasm heading into a playoff game from Steelers Nation. It’s almost like theirs a funeral tomorrow.
Pickens injury and time away was more impactful than we all want to own up to. But I just have a feeling Mike Williams is coming which will free up Pickens
I'm very confident in a win. Reason being is the last game, Russ made two (uncharacteristic) mistakes with the fumble and the pic 6 that dramatically influenced the outcome. Subtract those, add in GP and Elliot, PLUS remove Zay and I feel really good about our chances. Broaden the scope and we all would have been content with 2-2 through the gauntlet. Bmore and Cincinnati were very winnable. Cincinnati was a poor game plan but still came down to the final drive. All this to say, Here we go, Steelers....
I do think that they can but wont beat the Ravens. there are several reasons. 1. Lamar. He struggles against the steelers generally and in big games especially tin the ravens. 2. Munkin has proven that he recalls the Ravens true identity in playoff games. See LAST year. 3. No Zay flowers. Without him the secondary can do more and have fewer threats. There is still Andrews and likely with a smidgen of Batman but Zay frees up Bishop and allows JPJ to takway Bateman or Andrews. Minkah can switch onto Andrews or take likely or vice versa. Elliott Also gets in on that and between Bishop and those three that an extra precence for Henry. 4. Boz. Boz has been the better kicker. If the defense holds it close and the offense keeps the TOS down you can replicate game 1. Getting TOs for this team is doable. 5. Eventually they will turn to Russ. And if they do and there is enough time time you have seen he can cook in spurts. I doubt they do this willingly. I think that Tomlin will try to stop the run and run the ball. He wont change up his plans. Thats why I dont think they will wont win but they can.
Simple really. First play, PA to Washington right down the middle for 19. Quick hitter to Williams for 6. Already at midfield. Put the Ravens on their heels immediately. Run, run pass doesn’t work for this team, the OL isn’t good enough. March down the field on this team in the first quarter, you’ll see the running game open.
We know we're not going to score in the first quarter.. I still think we will score more than 21 points. An early interception from Lamar Might kill his confidence.
If there’s some kind of adjustments they have a real chance of winning. Tomlin doesn’t have a history of adjusting and his players have lost belief in him. When they had Ben he did his own thing and called his own plays. Ben being the franchise quarterback with 2 superbowl wins had more pull than Tomlin. Tomlin is the issue he has the final say on game plans if it’s working he goes the other way. That’s what’s cost him his locker room them players don’t believe in him and they’re basically saying it
Hi DK, as to your starting question on this edition, I do think they have a chance. A small chance, perhaps even a tiny chance. Why? Because if the Ravens make the mistakes that they have often made in the past, AND the Steelers play a game where they don't mess up as much as they have lately, they might actually make enough splash plays to get the game to swing to their side. But these are several IFs and that combination is not very likely. What I do not think is that they have a chance if the game is played without critical mistakes on either side. If both sides play to their potential I will sadly/angrily bet on the Ravens to win.
Man, the passion coming from your voice today is at an all-time high. But I’ve gotta agree with you DK. This team has to do something different. It seems as if we have winning players, who’s pedigree are being held back by conservative coaches. Tomorrow is almost here…AND THERE ARE NO MORE DO OVERS IN THIS SEASON!! Sheesh. 🙄
DK, how many seasons does it take for things to change? It’s been so long since the offense could consistently put up yardage and points. And what the hell happened to our defense?! They may as well let the high school kids in Pittsburgh get some reps, at least they’d fight. It’s ridiculous.
Yes DK, I have lost total faith in this team. From the horrible play calling to crap coaching. Hope we win. But if we lose, I hope there is major changes
I believe Steelers have a chance. Good defensive play is back and so is the offense with better play from GP and big balling from Mike Williams, Pat, Najee and Jaylin. Expect Russell and Fields to both have huge impacts. Book it..... Let's Go Steelers!!!!!
They have a chance if they win the turnover battle by 3. If they lose, I hope they lose big so real change could possibly happen. (Though I am skeptical it will)
Even when we were 10-3 I say we were iffy at best. We were winning but it we never really got everything in sync. The only offensive game we played that was worth while was the first bengals game. Other than the offense has struggled all year.
Ok DK..I agree with you..but here's the Wild Card. Our Defense. Defenses win games. Turnovers can destroy a team. The HUGE unknown in Baltimore is that if our Defense actually plays like it did last season, and early this season, Baltimore can turn over the ball and lose a very low scoring game if they find themselves sitting on the bench. I'm not putting a ton of hope in our offense, but listen, we won with KP didn't we? We got some Studs on Defense, .....if they decide to show up and play. That gives us a shot at winning.
To win, they will have to break tendencies. Passing on first down They need to bing the pass rush from different places, rather than the standard, line them up and rush from their specific positions
If they do not come out flat they have a chance. If they come out flat and stubbornly run and pitch out for three and outs and let Baltimore go up by two scores it’s going to be yet another rout
If Russell Wilson overcomes some of his weaknesses, especially working the middle, the Steelers can beat the Ravens. Watching Wilson when with the Seahawks, his ability to scramble to extend plays sometimes helped him use the middle. Granted, he's lost a step in mobility, but that mobility is not totally gone. Also, his long-ball accuracy was very good, and Wilson still has that ability. There's lots more to beating the Ravens, but a win is not impossible.
Glad they are playing the ratbird's more then my ratbird fan freind's are to play the STEELERS. Hopefully they do something different with the offense but it come's down to what they do, not what they say.
Defense: cant remember but i think it was against falcons defense made multiple turnovers in secondary. When ask about why/how the answer was its easy to play your part when you trust that guys up front to play theirs. Me concentrate on my job and not try to do cover for others, just in case (doing too much).
It was Cowher team and Ben called his own plays. Tomlin basically sat back and watched the show when Ben retired the real predictability on offense was on full display.
MT isn't throwing the picks. Mike aint fumbling the ball in the red zone. Mike isnt getting 1 yard on 3rd and 2. Its a team effort we cant just blame one person. But i have faith I think we are gonna shock the world
They have a chance. They have the skill set. They have the ability. But they have to come together and fight for it like the Steel City used to have! Fight for it and it will happen. Don't and it won't.
Lamar is 3-5 against us, we beat them earlier this year, and everyone thought we wouldn’t even make the playoffs. Shape up or ship out, either we play it close, and mess them up and win or we don’t. Not a yes man by far, but if we play to our strengths we have a shot.
I do believe they can beat Baltimore DK, however i don't believe they will. There's numerous reasons to think they can: 1. Vegas - money changing hands with an underdog like us 2. Refs: not saying they will favor us but how often can we say a questionable call might've been the difference in any playoff game 3. Lamar's kryptonite 4. Records vs division foes 10-2 5. George might channel adversity 6. Now is the time for them to show it all if there actually is a change 7. Ultimately the league wants Mahomes v Allen so Steelers are less of a threat to the Chiefs' path 8. Team could rally around Watt/Cam 9. Boswell v Tucker 10. Special Teams could be special 11. Steelers ended scoring drought v Ravens in last game 12. Running out of room
The only chance we have is if we actually do make changes in the offensive philosophy. Not the mess that we saw against the Bungles. That is it. we can do that, but I will believe it when I actually see Tomlin change...
Arguing about this offense's ' skill players is simply rearanging deck chairs on the Titanic. The O-line is abysmal and will be abysmal tomorrow. I predict at least four sacks by the Raisins.
One variable not being discussed a lot of mistakes not a lot of repeated mistakes and they are a desperate team it's not impossible they beat them this year already
Play smart control the ball defense needs to control run game no dumb penalties go and kick ass set the tone let's go let's kill quote the lambert #58!!!
One word your not adding in your description of the resistance to change is arrogance. Tomlin is a legend in his own mind and does not like being questioned on his decisions. And THAT is the biggest issue.
The Steelers are reactive, not proactive. They don't start attacking secondaries until they are behind. The last 4 games, they didn't even react. They just played flat all four quarters. The only thing that was bright was the defense in week 18 versus Cincinnati.
I just want to see us win tomorrow.
I just want to see TJ and Cam celebrate after this game.
We all do my guy. Hey, let's give em a shot.
Lose 23-17
I am trying to keep my faith but this 4 game skid is hard to ignore
I'm still going to be pissed if they go 3 and out first possession.

Everything you said just builds the case for Tomlin to be gone. How may times have we seen this? Why would it be any different this year?
Hopefully Tomlin has spent the week confronting his fears. If the defence can create the customary splash plays, they've got a fighting chance.
Well DK Nation crew, let’s hope we are not discussing same ole Tomlin playoffs on Monday lol here is to hoping!!
Sheesh. 🙄
Yes. Because we've done it before.
Predictability is the Steelers middle name - here's hoping they surprise us tomorrow night and WIN
Why we can win: we have some really really good players. Why we can lose: bad play calling and not using players to their optimal skill sets
They have a chance if they win the turnover battle by 3. If they lose, I hope they lose big so real change could possibly happen. (Though I am skeptical it will)
The only football reason I could give you for as to why we may win is that we appear to be at full health, and Baltimore has Zay Flowers out.
Even when we were 10-3 I say we were iffy at best. We were winning but it we never really got everything in sync. The only offensive game we played that was worth while was the first bengals game. Other than the offense has struggled all year.
We're hear with no contributions from our 1st and 3rd round picks. Appreciate!
Passing on first down
They need to bing the pass rush from different places, rather than the standard, line them up and rush from their specific positions
They can win if everybody shows up to play like its their last game. If they dont, it will be their last.
DK,
Will you be having a special post mortum Double Shot after the game tomorrow?
Just the Daily Shot podcast Sunday morning. Can't do the video remotely. -
Not one last talk. There's 3 after this!
...disturbing. I appreciate you DK.
Mike Tomlin is a coward. Steelers will never win a playoff game under him.
Did we not beat the Cardinals to win the Super Bowl or was that Bill Cowher calling the plays from some underground bunker?
"HOF NFL superbowl winning coach who is insanely more talented and intelligent than me is a coward" - big music fan with no profile picture.
It was Cowher team and Ben called his own plays. Tomlin basically sat back and watched the show when Ben retired the real predictability on offense was on full display.
@@jacktice7287 why do people continue saying ben called his own plays when even he says that's not true🤔😂😂😂
The only way that line closes up is if to many people are taking the steelers and the point's
We still have same players that we've seen do it
I do believe they can beat Baltimore DK, however i don't believe they will. There's numerous reasons to think they can:
1. Vegas - money changing hands with an underdog like us
2. Refs: not saying they will favor us but how often can we say a questionable call might've been the difference in any playoff game
3. Lamar's kryptonite
4. Records vs division foes 10-2
5. George might channel adversity
6. Now is the time for them to show it all if there actually is a change
7. Ultimately the league wants Mahomes v Allen so Steelers are less of a threat to the Chiefs' path
8. Team could rally around Watt/Cam
9. Boswell v Tucker
10. Special Teams could be special
11. Steelers ended scoring drought v Ravens in last game
12. Running out of room
The only chance we have is if we actually do make changes in the offensive philosophy. Not the mess that we saw against the Bungles. That is it. we can do that, but I will believe it when I actually see Tomlin change...
Lack of belief, lack of faith is in direct relation to an abundance of arrogance.
Arguing about this offense's ' skill players is simply rearanging deck chairs on the Titanic. The O-line is abysmal and will be abysmal tomorrow. I predict at least four sacks by the Raisins.
The outside betters putting their money against the Steelers didn’t want the games, they just saw the score on the last game
TEN GAME TOMLIN
One variable not being discussed a lot of mistakes not a lot of repeated mistakes and they are a desperate team it's not impossible they beat them this year already
Play smart control the ball defense needs to control run game no dumb penalties go and kick ass set the tone let's go let's kill quote the lambert #58!!!
Can they change and adjust what they was doing.
I'm a loyal Ravens fan and I'm worried. Because I know the steelers can beat this team. They have done it many times over the years.
i think the steelers will win. i think the secondary will be better the run defense will play hard and the offense will get something going
One word your not adding in your description of the resistance to change is arrogance. Tomlin is a legend in his own mind and does not like being questioned on his decisions. And THAT is the biggest issue.
If we spot the Ratbirds 10 points while going three and out twice I'm switching over to something less damaging to mind and spirit.
The Steelers are reactive, not proactive. They don't start attacking secondaries until they are behind. The last 4 games, they didn't even react. They just played flat all four quarters. The only thing that was bright was the defense in week 18 versus Cincinnati.
Here the thing the Head coach really don't believe
