- I discovered a cool way to give your work a distressed, vintage, printed look in Procreate without the need for any special brushes. In fact, the process doesn't even use brushes. I'll show you step by step how to go through the effects to reproduce my results!

Your use of “bloom” was awesome. Had not thought of it in that way before. Excellent!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the Procreate tips. It’s a great program.
Agreed, thanks!
RIP MF DOOM. I’m impressed that you know of him…
Indeed RIP. Do I not seem cool enough? Bc I’m a pretty cool dude 😎lol
@@chris-piascik 😁
I had no idea you could select colors that way. Thanks!
Happy to help!
Very cool. Thank you for this!
My pleasure!
Was excited about this video when you mentioned it during the livestream. You did not disappoint on this! (not that you ever do)
Hah thanks so much!
what a cool effect. i will definitely try this out. thanks for sharing, chris!
Thanks! Have fun!
really cool tip and results!
Thanks! Glad you think so!
Great video, thanks for the tipp. Though I might have productivity feedback. When you select a color, instead of creating a new layer and then paint in the selection, just drag down with 3 fingers and use the cut paste option to cut and paste the selection to a new layer . If you separate layers often, it will save a lot if time.
Thanks, I don’t use procreate enough to remember all those gestures. That’s a good one though and I’ll try to remember it!
If you turn the select ratio up by sliding to the right you can also get a select similar effect. And instead of brushing evrything in you can select the layer and click fill while you have your selection.
Thanks for the tip!
Hi Chris,
I hear you loud and clear ( your two year old uses Procreate😜) I think I'm going to join the Adobe Fresco cult and give it another go.
Thank you for pushing me to my limits and for trying to make us better illustrators.
Thanks!
lol!! That’s not what I meant! Glad you’re finding my content helpful though!
With each of your colors on their own individual layer, you can click on that layer and tap select…(if I understood your question correctly). :)
Oh I didn’t realize you could make selections from layers. That’s cool. Thanks!

Maybe if enough of us submit feature requests to Adobe, they'll add a few. I'd love Gaussian blur and the magic tools at least.
Yes, ditto.
What are the magic tools??
@@chris-piascik I find the liquify tools in Procreate really useful, but I forgot as I was writing the comment that they were the liquify tools and just called them magic.
What brush did you use when you made original artwork? I’m following along but am getting strange artifacts along edge when I do the crystal effect. I think it may work better with certain brushes.
The original was actually done in Fresco a while back, but the art is just smooth lines without texture. I think you might just need to minimize the settings.
Hi Chris,
Is it possible to add texture to vector illustrations in Fresco (so they stay vectorized)? Do you already have a video of how to do this?
Not unless you make them yourselves. I have done this a few times making my own halftones, etc. But it's not as easy as using pixel brushes.
I wish fresco had these effects but I rather find a way to recreate similar looks in fresco than learning an entirely new program. No shade against procreate tho…thanks for the inspiration!!!
You can create this look pretty easily with the riso brushes from retro supply co.
@@chris-piascik which brushes do you recommend ? That aren’t too expensive 😅
@hassanhart6189 I use the riso brushes in this video ua-cam.com/video/LonLx6hWUUk/v-deo.htmlsi=vwvJSQBDG728uH32
these type of filtres doesnt exist in Fresco?
This art was sick. I'm about to do some lettering for Kanye's new album 😮
Thanks!
Just here for the comment war. Awesome as always dude ✌🏻
lol thank you!
More like MF BLOOM, amirite?
...I'll see myself out now.
Lolol
Great video Chris
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
