Hi friends! I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did! This Friday I was be sharing a “code with me” video where we will use computer vision and Python to build a version of Harry Potters invisible cloak so stay tuned!
Wallet is by far Apple's most important app. There's a reason why it has its own dedicated section on the bottom of Apple's website. A shame Google and Samsung seem to not realize the importance of their own Wallet apps.
One of the things I carry my wallet for is my health insurance card. Thanks to this video, I wondered if I could even add it to my apple wallet. After looking into it; turns out I can. Had no clue! Man just wish state IDs didn’t need to be physical.
I enjoy ApplePay so much, I couldn’t even consider another phone. I believe the security, in the app while using the Apple Card with the rolling code, is premium safety. 👍
First transit card system in #Canada available in Apple Wallet at last! Looking forward to more 🇨🇦 transit cards be available on Apple Wallet regardless of #NFC technology (e.g. #MIFARE like with #PRESTO, #Calypso like with #Navigo) and protocol used.
I love love LOVE Apple Pay and the Apple Card. AC is my go to payment driver and I use Apple Pay ALL the time. I cant wait until I can fully go cashless
Fuve suggestions: in Ontario, get drivers licenses, auto insurance cards, and health cards in the wallet. Fourthly, fix the bug where every once in a very long while a reader will insist I present the chip on the physical card. Fifth, increase the tap limit. Those are the things that require me to (annoyingly) still carry a wallet.
Well, I hope #CubicTS isn't wasting too much of #TransLink's resources (money, time, etc.) on upgrading #CompassCard system's backend to latest software and firmware with account-based and digital card support, and I hope the same #MIFARE DESFire protocol is used for the Apple Wallet support despite upgrade to account-based since it's faster than #EMV (used on tap credit and debit cards) and it would maintain consistent #CompassCard tap experience.
Well, Walmart #Canada already accepts #ApplePay. If you're referring to Walmart #US, then yeah, if Walmart #US has issues with accepting #ApplePay via familiar regular payment networks (#Mastercard, #Visa, etc.), at least IMO Walmart should partner with #Rakuten, the business where Walmart sold some own shares on #西友 (SEIYU) supermarket chain in #Japan to, #Rakuten issues some Walmart cashback coupons, and #Rakuten has #RakutenEdy (#NFC card-based) and #RakutenPay (bar/QR code app-based) systems, to expand #Edy (fulfilling the "d" in the #Edy acronym meaning dollar, #US $ specifically) to the #US (ideally also #RakutenPay) and enable #ApplePay support on #Edy. I.e. at least Walmart should abandon their Walmart Pay and adapt their business partner's systems including #RakutenEdy and work with their business partner to improve #Edy with adding #US $ support in cards' data storage and enabling #ApplePay support for #Edy with $ and ¥ support. Walmart can then also negotiate agreeable deals with their business partner if that's what it takes to enable #ApplePay at Walmart.
Something I still don’t fully understand is if American cards in Apple Pay can be used to tap to pay internationally at a terminal. I’ve only used an international recognized debit card while in Japan.
Apple wallet is available in pretty much all of Asia with Siberian Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, South Korea, China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, Palestine, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan and Kuwait. So in short, its your country’s banking regulators that doesn’t allow Apple wallet to work.
@@Passque666 Also, smart card operators for transit, E-money, and more also need to separately enable #ApplePay for respective smart card support. E.g. #beepcardph would need to separately work with Apple on enabling #ApplePay for #beepcard since they use #MIFARE like #PRESTO instead of #EMV like bank cards.
It’s not an Apple issue, it’s Canada’s slow progress issue. It took too long to allow contactless payments which should’ve been a key feature from the start
It required a new reader so PRESTO had to invest in the new black readers, also develop software for them and all the backend infrastructure. Just slow work on our end. Also Apple has rigorous security and privacy policies so I bet abiding by them probably took a long time too.

Google definitely does. Google Wallet is just as comprehensive as Apple Wallet is.
I hope Jen makes Apple Pay available in Thailand soon. It’s been long overdue and many Thais are really waiting this to be available here 🙏🏼

For years I've been emailing Presto to bring the actual Presto card to the Apple Wallet (And not just me!) - its been a long time coming lmao
I wish more stores in Canada supported loyalty cards via NFC as well as bringing Apple Card and Apple Cash to Canada as well.
Is there a list which Canadian stores loyalty cards are with nfc, I definitely would want Apple Cash in Canada as well
@@emanuelesteves2818There aren't any. The known prominent Apple Wallet NFC retailers are all listed on the Apple Wallet Wikipedia.
@@emanuelesteves2818 There is a list but there are none in Canada. You can find the list here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Wallet
@@emanuelesteves2818 None of them support NFC, it's just barcode passes.
I love seeing women in tech... Can you do more episodes on IT certs as well?
Just returned from London. Apple Pay made using the tube soooo easy.
Interesting video about new way to pay and easy to do it.
Amazing interview! thank you for sharing this!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

When she talks, all I see is Tim cook speaking 🥺
👆 yup.
I love love LOVE Apple Pay and the Apple Card. AC is my go to payment driver and I use Apple Pay ALL the time. I cant wait until I can fully go cashless
I’ll be so glad when I can completely ditch my wallet and have my Texas DL on my phone. Apple wallet is a minimalists dream come true.
Wish I could use it in PH too

Now please do Compass in Vancouver next Apple & Translink!!!

Very interesting video tiff 🤩🤩😊
Smart way to pay and other uses.
Bla bla bla … I just want Apple Pay AT WALMART 😭

Yeah that's a Walmart problem. They choose to not enable tap to pay in their readers and instead push you to use Walmart pay.
great tiff

so cool!
Didn't expect to see you here. When is the new PRESTO on Apple Watch video coming 😆
You look gorgeous, where were you in the intro? 😳
Le UPI : HOLD MY QR CODE😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Apple pay....
It’s a shame that Pay is still not expanding in Southeast Asia aside from Singapore and Hong Kong. Please bring it to the Philippines 🇵🇭 please 🙏🏻

real question is why did this take so long to implement? I feel like this was years behind.

Sounds a bit funny, because I pay flights gasoline , shops and on line shopping with Apple Pay since 2022. I am from Lithuania 😅
This video isn't Apple Pay for payment cards. It's for PRESTO, which is a transit card. Canada has had Apple Pay for ages now for payments.

Happy Wednesday!!
A lot of marketing phrases, while Apple Wallet still isn’t supporting sorting of your Apple Cards.
