Jurassic Park - Why It Remains The King of Dinosaur Movies (Review)

- Jurassic Park was the single biggest movie of my life, and 25 years later it still remains the best dinosaur movie ever made. With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on the horizon, I thought it was time to take a look back at Steven Spielberg's masterpiece and examine what makes it such a great summer blockbuster.

Bonus points if you recognize the footage from 1:24!
Imedias Rez There is a movie that comes close to the orginial JP, that's Jurassic world. JP and JW are both the best dinosaur movies ever made, and people who say "CGI is trash", "Animatrioncs are way better" are dillusonal little kids, blinded by Nostalgia.
I do! Please what is the clip with the kid from??? I remember watching that so much as a kid
GODZILLAFAN45 Yep, that clip is from Jurassic Park, the kid walking up is one of John Hammond’s grand kids Tim Murphy, and the two guys standing at the left of the Triceratops is Alan Grant and Gerry Harding. Great scene

Awesome review - can’t believe you watched JP at the age of 4. my parents contemplated letting me watch it at 7 but then they read a newspaper review citing the scene when Genaro gets eaten. That put a sudden end to my dream! Still remember that debate from some 27 years ago like it was yesterday!
The movie that inspired me to become a filmmaker and is still the best movie ever made.
You made me shed a very manly tear....thanks for The great video
Thanks for watching!
@Chris Plissken - It's beautiful. ;-;
Jurassic Park is the best film ever made.
You wanna know how dinosaur films became Popular after Jurassic Park?
life um finds a way
Saw the film today. At the end there was a sign with mud on it, so it read 'urassi park'. This was when the idea of a the park had denigrated somewhat. Hadn't noticed that joke before.
I loved your review, this is my favorite movie, and so i gave you a thumbs up. But i disagree with your criticisms of the film and I'll explain my argument. What you said about lots of plot holes, I'll let it go since I don't know which ones you're referring to. But the ones you did refer to like the Nedry character I think are bad criticisms. Let me explain the character the way he was explained to me, he is the embodiment of the Chaos Theory. The description of Chaos theory being a butterfly flapping its wings in tokyo can cause a hurricane in New York, although theoretically true, is a huge exaggeration of the practical effects of the theory. The scenes of Nedry carrying out his plot inter cut with how it effects the main group is what chaos theory actually is, he has never met them and has little to nothing to do with them, he is kept separate from the main group the whole movie and yet his actions is what starts killing them. That is true chaos theory which is the underlying theme of the movie.
Then about the kids being annoying, they are representative of Dr. Grant emerging as a parental figure since parents have a working understanding of chaos better than anyone. Lexi using the flashlight to me seems totally plausible since they are unfamiliar with the T-rex and what it would react to. Normal animals either freeze or run away when a light is shone in their eyes so it seems fair to think they would believe the light would be good to have. But other than that yes they do make some strange decisions, but that's probably because they are scared out of their minds.
Anyways I loved the video, keep up the good work.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the film, I myself was only seven when it came out, and once the T Rex appear I was terrified. I made it through the entire film but with my hands over my eyes throughout. I also liked The Lost World, not as good as the first, but offers more than I feel most give it credit despite the many flaws.
Seeing the dinosaurs in a more natural environment, The Stegosaurus/T Rex's protecting their young, as well as having the T-rex run amok on the mainland were all aspects not see in the previous film. The idea of life finding a way is more relevant in the sequel with the dinosaurs surviving despite being lysine deficient. I only like the first two Jurassic films, after that there really isn't much left to show, before it starts becoming overly silly.
Can you elaborate on why you dislike the ones after the second?
@@akazienoel2009 The scripts are awful, and the new trilogy is just dumb, I can't get invested in any of the new characters hence why they're bringing back characters from the first movie to get the nostalgia fanboys in the seats. If people like the new movies good for them, I'm not the target audience anymore.
@@derajnitram1882 okay
Good stuff...your narration and video sequences match very nicely. Great to the point summary of this movies qualities.
The king of movies in general not just dinosaurs
8:50 never say never, cause life finds a way
The best video I have ever watch you got a subscriber just from this
Man, when you told the story of how adults were impressed by you being able to pronounce “Pachycephalosaurus” at a young age, I lost it! Because that’s exactly how I was. I would quiz my parents’ friends on these dinosaurs when they visited. And when I asked them what the dinosaurs I showed them was called the next time they’d visit, I would tease them for not remembering. I was four years old, and all these adults would be so excited by the fact that I could spell “Pachycephalosaurus”. They thought I would go on to be some kind of scientist when I grew up. Joke’s on them, I’m just a regular schmuck.
I was completely obsessed by dinosaurs long before I saw Jurassic Park however. I can’t even remember a time before I was a dinosaur nut. So when I actually saw that movie it was an almost religious experience for me. It was like seeing them for real and my life changed forever. Though, I was that extra bit nerdy and scorned the movie for misrepresenting the Velociraptors as bigger than they were. “They should have had the Deinonychus in the movie instead,” I complained. Man, such great memories.
Great deconstruct, you should mention the soundtrack too because those beautiful harmonies blended very well with the movie, they were magical as they propel me into the enchanting dinosaur land.
1:25 bro same I was also super obsessed with dinosaurs and are still to some extent. It was a great time and people was always impressed when I could pronounce quetzalcoatlus
That was a great, honest review of my favourite movie! 😎👍🏻
I’m about to make the all movie on a game called Arma IIII as a base scenario adaptation. Your review helped me gather back the core essence of what made me loved it and adapt it in a scenario game perspective fir both movie fan and general public. So both the young kid I was and the elder me thank you for this review.
I got a Jurassic world evolution ad before this lol
I didn’t even know I whas subbed to you... This has been the best thing youtube has done since removing 50% of Logan Pauls adrevenue

Beautiful video.
boy i remembered when first watching this movie i was legit scared when the Dilophosaurus spat on Dennis Nedry. still to this day it gives me the creeps.
this is actually always my favorite movie before i've watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy but that big epic fantasy is on a whole other level. still, the best stand alone movie. and the book is even better, though, beware, if you cant read about blood and guts, than this is not the book for you. its a gorefest but it has its purpose. dinosaurs are still like animals, just very bloodthirsty animals. also, the book is much different than the movie and i'm glad that both the book and the movie are great on other levels.
I hope you read Dinotopia and The World Beneath. While the "megaseries" was your standard TV fare, the books are incredible. What I remember best are James Gurney's watercolor paintings.
It didn’t all come down to Nedry shutting the power. He was one of the many problems the park had, which all together caused the catastrophe
So many flawed components of a complex system, both of nature and manmade. Even if Nedry hadn't shut down the park, I believe Jurassic Park would've failed.

why do video essays keep making me cry
Up from the depths is that you?
I’m just noticing right now how in this film every shot of Rexy, whether close or far, is from below. This is in order to make the viewer feel her size and power. This approach isn’t really used in the last few movies as strictly or effectively.
Jurassic Park and Jaws both used the Alfred Hitchcock techniques.. with building the monster up and slowly revealing it.. Steven Spielberg not only took advantage of the techniques but he surpasses Alfred Hitchcock..
I liked carnosaur!! Love Jurassic Park. 10 000 BC had cool dinosaurs for the day
This has been my favorite movie since I was five years old and it still is to this day besides maybe Godfather Pt.2 depending on the day you ask me.
Jurassic world 2015 is my favorite movie of the entire series but jurassic park is a very close second.
Its very interesting.... like, I watched 1 movie on tape when I was a kid.... loved it, still love... now as grown up, we watched all, all of them... And my wife like Jurassic World better.... I Thing the problem is.... When she grow up, she never see the fist part, and now the movies are different..
Jurassic park is the best movie
Jurassic Park...amazing movie and franchise as a whole! :D

i just want one big budgetted dino film with the tropically feathered dinosaurs.
no more naked chickens.
I remember going to a premiere of the movie and parents dragging their howling crying traumatized children out of the theater during the first T-Rex scene. That was great :D
Haha, that's awesome.
Yeah it all started with Ooohs and Ahhhs.... Then it was all WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
*t-rex roar*
just the dvd cover alone is better than all the movies of this generation combined
Hm, interesting.
Your story mirrors mine to a T! I also watched the movie when I was about 6 years old in the cinema with my dad and after that I wanted to become a paleontologist... I didn't but my love for dinosaurs never vanished.
For me, Jurassic Parc is not a story about the "dangers of science" but more about "the exploitation of science through capitalism". It is a capitalist critique in a lot of ways and it hits harder the more we experience the effects of climate change.
This film is a masterwork.

The novel was better
The T rex is the reason I love dinosaurs 🦖 ❤️🥹
You're 29?
She’s a paleobotanist
Because it was the first moderately good dinosaur movie. It’s overrated. Just because it was the first movie doesn’t mean it’s the best.
But I’m no expert so fucking sue me
Jurassic Park is a great monster flick, but it's in no way scientifically accurate and never has been even for it's time.
does a movie need to have a accurate representation of the creatures to be a great movie?
@@-ryu-117 i'm not saying its a bad movie because its not accurate, i literally said "great monster flick".
I prefer Jurassic Park 2 tbh
Now that's not good.
jurassic world 2 sucks stick to the original movie
THE ANGSTY PYRODRAGON Rodrigues Jurassic world 2 was good but the original was the best movie ever
Wrong, Jurassic World 2 is good.
