Perhaps if we had closed the borders sooner like New Zealand we wouldn't still be in a national lockdown with increasing cases of covid? And as for increased restrictions in Dubai, the UFC has moved their whole organisation to Abu Dhabi which is also in the UAE, flying many people out there and hosting events with crowds as well as press conferences etc....I dont see any backlash against them for doing this, seems like double standards to me 🤷♂️

Influencers have taken “be kind” and turned it into “I do not deserve criticism”. Problem is Instagram/Facebook all pay them for doing posts, add deals and other things like that. If you report those types of accounts they never get delt with because they make money of those "influences". People complain about those types of people but sit at home watching Tik toks/insta/FB and shares all that "sellable data". If everyone removed social media the platforms would die and so would "influencers". Think how much time people would get back of there lives if they didn't scroll all day, plus the mental benefits

This is going to be controversial but I could've sympathised with her perspective of that was truly the case and not an excuse for her to go partying. I had remained mostly cooped up at home since march, still contracted COVID despite taking all the due precautions back in September. And then recently I went on a trip to a pretty crowded tourist destination and feel genuinely invigorated after it. Needless to say I feel much better in terms of my mental health as well.

@@georgiamabel7197 so sorry to hear, it's awful for the elderly 😔 My granny is the same she has cancer and heart issues (told 3 years ago she wouldn't be around for too much longer) but she called the family and made the decision that we where still to see her. Her argument being she doesn't have long left and would rather risk covid than not see family and possibly pass anyway. That's just as hard for the family though as the anxiety and worrying about infecting her doesn't go away. But her mental health is the main thing we are focusing on.

All of us from Dubai are actually just as frustrated.... as a nation we had spent months adhearing to social distancing measures only for a bunch of influencers/youtubers to show up and start hosting 30 people yacht parties for "essential work."
Our daily covid cases has *tripled* since UK went into lockdown and we are potentially now looking at having a lockdown of our own (which we haven't had since April)
And then there are people blaming Dubai for leaving borders open. Yes, we need to travel for REAL essential reasons. Everything was going fine till a bunch of attention seeking idiots decided on flying here for “content” , so why should the people here suffer when everyone’s following rules perfectly?

i went to dubai for christmas to visit family over there, and it was selfish of us, but we had masks on 24/7, adhered to rules and guidelines even when out say for dinner, and i respected everybody wearing a mask and it genuinely felt safe, we got tested before we went over of course
then the brits came.. and i dont mean to point fingers but it is how it is
we were leaving a day before new years, but a couple days before it they started showing up, i have never heard more shouting, arguing, people kept telling them to put masks up, they kept taking them off and not caring a single fucking bit and i felt so bad. most nights they were drunk as anything, just trying to speak, them coughing and i seen someone arrested outside our estate (we never went to our relatives house for obvious reasons)
this is in a foreign country with different rules and social standards, and these are probably the same people telling foreigners to get out of their country to while also going to a foreign country and disregarding everything
to end it off why my family went to dubai was selfish and i admit that, but jesus christ the lack of self regard some people half is just.... awful

My partner is an essential worker and has been working through the entire pandemic with little to no recognition. He has an anxiety disorder and every day he leaves the house terrified of getting covid. Seeing these influencers talking about "mental health" and "needing to get away" actually makes my blood boil - they have absolutely no idea. The utter ignorance, lack of self-awareness and complete selfishness is infuriating.

My working hours kept changing, abused by customers, couldn’t see my boyfriend for months, worried for my dad who is critically vulnerable and having to isolate in my room to keep him safe etc. Yet these people who are famous for nothing think they know how hard it is and think rules don’t apply to them! So hats off to your partner, if no one is giving him recognition then this is me giving him some. Your hard work has been worth it and I don’t know you personally but thank you so much for what you’ve been doing.

Worst part of all of this is that these “influencers” are actually influencing the next generation, by teaching them the wrong ideas and norms. Young children will believe them and will think it’s okay to be ego-centric and arrogant towards laws and regulations. But there’s always two sides to any story. The fact that all these people are allowed into Dubai says a lot about Dubai’s foreign policies during a global pandemic. Like youtubers Aba & Preach recently said “what’s worse? @@adamcraig1468 Essential surgeries are being delayed because of hospitals being overburdened with Covid, so actually, if you go around potentially spreading covid, you are also potentially contributing to that burden on hospitals and consequently, hospital waiting lists. And since many people don’t show any symptoms of Covid, we have no idea whether we’re spreading it or not unless we get tested. I don’t think any of these influencers are getting tested in order to travel, or getting all their mates tested and waiting for negative results before they attend their yacht parties.

I'm a key worker (I work in a psychiatric hospital) and have been throughout all these lockdowns. I would love a holiday but didn't travel even when restrictions were eased in the summer because no way do I want to risk catching COVID and spreading it to vulnerable people. It makes me so angry that people like Sheridan are swanning off whenever they feel like it and equating what they do with actual essential work.
It also makes me FURIOUS that Sheridan is playing the mental health card: I work with people with severe mental illness, mainly girls and their issues have often been exacerbated by the pandemic. I promise you are doing fuck all for them by doing some burpees near a pool, Sheridan.

Seeing pictures of someone else with their life together, all looking healthy and good looking, living life, at the beach and posing for the camera, all this kinda makes me feel depressed rather than actually making me feel good. I can kinda see how it COULD be a inspiration to some people, because it might want to make them to work hard, try to push themselves and to achieve the same kind of lifestyle, but yeah it mostly does the opposite affect and makes a lot of people feel depressed and compare their own lives. I cant judge all influencers the same because they are all individuals but I dont understand why you're so upset that they are abroad and having a good time? If you had the means to do it you would too so why hate on someone who has the means to? Also, I'm sure that many influencers do help people with depression who look up to them.....including Jack who is an influencer himself! Even if his content is different to the stereotypically more shallow influencers. However I dont think they're endangering UK lives by being in Dubai....they wont be allowed back into the country until after lockdown and will have to self isolate for 2 weeks when they do come back. Also the severity of the pandemic in that area of the world is less than in the UK going off the number of cases etc. People are quick to put the blame on influencers but I dont see the same backlash over the UFC moving their whole organisation out to Abu Dhabi and holding events with socially distanced crowds and press conferences etc...rightly so as well in my opinion seeing as they are following all of the correct protocol to be safe. If the UK had handled the virus more effectively like New Zealand for example then our situation could be very different right now and I dont see a problem with anyone travelling abroad to escape the depressing lockdown as long as they follow the rules where they are. At the end of the day if the borders were closed as they should have been a long time ago then people wouldn't have even had an opportunity to travel, seems to me like people are looking for scapegoats and avoiding the real reasons for concern 🤷♂️
