Would have liked Akuma Shun Goku Satsu being easier to link into similar to Shin Akuma and SF4O Akuma. His tier viability is fine but some new non VT2 and VS2 stuff would have been appreciated. Also, interesting VT2 change, but the non EX cancels should cost less than the EX cancels. But considering Cammy has 900 HP and Stun, making Akuma 875 health and stun but go HAM with buffs would have been a good direction. btw, love that filter. It helps make the models pop a lot more.
Been checking back every day for this video. Other people do break downs, but no one is as thorough or comprehensive. The effort you put into these always pay off. Keep up the good work.
As you said non ex cancels spend the same amount of V-gauge and almost always does less damage so I could only find 2 meaningful ways to use it 1. Air tatsu after dp gives a really good oki (and it is arguable whether a better oki worth the price) 2. Since VT2 cancels have better juggle properties, you can do something like *VT2 ex red fb into VS1 punch into VT2 h. DP* which allows you to do CA. That isn't possible with ex dp or ex fb cancels. (here is a cool combo that uses VT2/VS2: *v=YilrjML2wC8* ) This video taught me a 3rd one but still overall I don't think that there is much reason to pick VT2 over VT1. If only non ex cancels spent less meter, then the change would mean something. VS2 changes are huge though. It might be the better VS overall now but VS1 still has its uses which is what we all like to see. I believe you can make them both work in almost every match up but one of them is much more useful in some specific match ups than the other. For example VS1 is quite good against Cammy while VS2 is very good against characters that struggle against fireballs in general. (I couldn't use VS2 against Guile effectively the other day but I am not sure if it is due to my inexperience with it or not)
As someone who plays primarily 3s akuma, hearing that he can now cancel a red fireball from a light that combos blows my mind (in 3s you can only achieve this thru crouching fierce and light red fireball in which the damage sucks)
I always appreciate this type of content. to me something simple and straightforward is the best way to talk about this kind of stuff lol. thanks always for the information
Other than combo potential, another thing that's pretty cool about VT2 cancels is the ability to cancel from normals that aren't normally cancelable. There's actually some really cool routes off of CC s.HP specifically, but just having s.HP BE cancelable into stuff other than the s.HP xx s.HP TC is super cool.
Akuma buffed again and reasonably so. I love his new combo potential and confirms. They really properly tweaked him. I still slaughter him online though, Akuma's are so easy to read and I don't know why, maybe because Back Fierce lol, they love that button so much
It is a good button especially for anti airing but I think it can be used effectively for footsies since it is a 6f heavy (though I am not sure if it actually has the priority of a heavy)
HGolly sh^% I didn't knew you could store the VS2 red fireball, that is so cool, I don't know if this made it to be better than VS1 but is a fun thing to try now, need to go and check Akuma today thanks for the update as always.
real happy with the VS2 changes, the VT2 changes are cool but I'm not sure how meaningful it will be given the opportunity cost of not having VT1 and the VT2 combos being both expensive and heavily prorated. I hope the community finds some sauce with it
I'm not sure what VT2 is meant to provide that VT1 doesn't. The combo damage sucks, you have no raging demon, and Akuma already has great block pressure
having used VT2 a lot in the past, i'm not sure where i come down on these changes. the new stuff it has is REALLY cool, but the main issue i saw with the trigger in the past was specifically the amount of timer the specials cost. it's always had plenty of strong things it could do, but the inflexibility of the high cost of VT2 specials means it is VERY unlikely you will get what is technically the full value of the trigger from activating it, unless you hit your opponent IMMEDIATELY after the activation. OTOH, the new cancels mean each individual use of the trigger is more likely to be exactly what you want with less compurrmise fur damage or oki in a lot of key scenarios, so maybe it all works out, especially if the VS2 buffs make it more likely that you could potentially get a second one (though that seems like an unlikely scenario)
i didn't think it was bad fwiw, it was just a weird way the trigger worked. you can technically get 3 specials out of it but the length of the combos means your window to do it is REALLY tight, so it's effectively a 2-use trigger most of the time.
I think they should make it so that ex cancels spend exactly half of the meter and non ex ones spend 1/3 of it. And maybe increase the duration a little. Then it can be a real alternative to VT1
@@stilmaho i don't think anything about what the trigger does currently would warrant that kind of compensation nerf. i think you could just make both the EX and regular cancels cost a third of the timer and that would be fine.
Akuma didn't get too much, be he seemed good already so no biggie. Also I like the filter, but I don't quite like how easy it is to tell that it's am add on and not the regular look. Maybe in a future game tho
yeah Akuma's only issue was with low health, but other than that he was always solid imo. as someone who always used vskill2 and vtrigger2 I think the buffs are an absolute win
I think akuma now is way better. But still his health is too low and his normals got nerfed from last patch. As well as air ex fireball. In spite of all that, this VS2 fireballs are crazy, they are so fast and so juggly, you can literally dash and get a full heavy dp damage which is great. You can hit confirm it but is also safe on block.
I'm gonna be real, if SFV characters allowed you to start a match with a full bar of v-trigger, giving you the option to go crazy early on or take the risk and take damage/ use your v-skill to increase your v-trigger time by a reasonable amount, the game would be so much more fun to play. EDIT: Actually, if I'm being honest I just think v-trigger versions of the characters are just more fun to play than their base forms. It'd even be fine if they toned it down a little in some way, like cooldowns for v-trigger abilities or something. Seeing Akuma's new vt2 stuff is legitimately cool then I remembered he has to wait for v-trigger to do it, and he has a very limited amount of time to make use of it.
Maybe as a mode or something not as the base game as it wouldn't be balanced still a infinite v gauge mode online would be sick obviously no ranked just for casuals
oh my god ive been out of sf for about a year now since my controller broke and i havn't replaced it but WHAT final patch? i did see the next go announced but FUAAAAA
This patch comes with a Cel Shade filter you can use in offline matches only, which is what Baf is using. There's also a "pixel filter" which has less impressive results.
Honestly sans the dumb lion design akuma was pretty…status quo in V? Like he’s not absurd like second impact or 4 or surprisingly just good at best like 3s or straight up bad like in mvc2. Akuma really whelmed me this game. He’s almost boring how by the books he is here which is weird because every other shoto wanted to reinvent themselves to a degree and akuma just wanted to be top 5, which he usually already was. He didn’t really do anything all that crazy compared to earlier games. At most the only strong opinions I have about akuma in this game was aesthetically he kinda sucked. I already mentioned the Lion bs but this may be the single worst rendition of the demon by far. I hope they do something more extravagant in 6, I’d hate for street fighters most iconic antagonist to just be a prop to be brought back to keep people at peace. I doubt capcom would do that honestly but I can’t deny the idea of them dropping balls being plausible even with a new team at the helm.
I think a lot of this opinion is because V is such an offense focused game that a character like akuma who’s all offense and neutral normally probably just sucks at being memorable now because he’s not only rewarded for just being himself a lot of his identity is more homogeneous with the rest of the cast now.
I remember being a kid and thinking - one day my peers gonna grow up, and then they'll be in charge of things. We've definitely reached that point because every aspect of life post 2020 appears to be run by children.
A good note here is that vt2 canceled hp dp does more damage than vt2 canceled ex dp and so its more optimal when you get a ll hits
