@@Mymatevince Haha! To be fair, it wouldn't have been as fun to watch had you tested it first in a pond! Miracle you saw it at the bottom! Waterfalls too - action packed!!!
I wrote this before the segment on COPPA. I feel that the controversy about this is overblown. They're mostly targeting channels that 100% target kids, not channels that kids might theoretically watch. I do toy reviews, so I do get younger viewers like you, but my videos are primarily targeted at adult collectors.
I'm 33, and I sure love all your videos. You do a great job, and you've inspired me huge to fix my things instead of throwing them out. Much love from NY.
Wow! So much in this episode! Blair Witch, Bear Grylls, Titanic(at least you saved the boat lol!) Great video Vince, keep it up mate! Ps, we are going to need a biiger bath lol!!
I was happy to see you pop back up in the back yard after your epiphany about the helicopter. I had worked that out during the kitchen segment having noted to myself the ballasted battery. I'm impressed that you worked that concept out, not everybody has knowledge well rounded enough to understand such things. Thanks as always for sharing what you learn. The controllers and boat segment was interesting. I'm anticipating the rewire for L-R and F-R.
Glad you got the boat fixed Vince your maiden voyage made me cry with laughter, thought you would have to buy Ben a new boat at one point, thanks for sharing your adventures👍
The phone repair part brings back memories of when I was an installer for VoIP subscribers of a broadband ISP. Back then most people didn't like the idea of having just 1 main phone connected to the modem. They wanted to retain the functionality of all their existing phone sockets in all the rooms, without running new cables. That meant if they didn't have an IP or had a concealed IP socket that required hacking, we would have to use both inner and outer pairs of the RJ11 cables to create a network that enables reliable VoIP call connections that you wouldn't otherwise be able to get if you were just using splitters. Faffing about all day, everyday with the wiring nearly drove me potty.
nice vid ...Like the hunt for red October at the end...lol... my son has several of the 'new bright' RC toys ...one of the best things you can do to these toys is to get rid if the plugs on the PCB and solder the switch & motor/servo wires directly to the PCB and coat the PCB in DCA SCC3 conformal coating ..don't coat the battery terminals of coarse....his toys have survived many a soaking...I've had to clean out the servos but at least the control PCB survives.
We were given a helicopter similar recently. I think it flew about twice before it got too boring. Love the Phone. That ambulance has good playability as it would fit playmobile , sylvanian animals and those small action figures like star wars and Robocop .dr octopus looks more like those collector's models they have in shops for adults that sell mint condition comics etc. My son had action man and it has changed for the bad since my brother had one, no uniforms to buy for them and they all are made to do something special these days and only that. Love all these toy mending videos.
My sister gave me one of those clear phones many years ago, I should still have it somewhere, it's very cool looking phone, especially if you are into electronics repair being able to see the PCB and all. Oh and glad you got your boat back, I was worried for a minute you had lost it it! I got a good chuckle while you were running through the woods and said "it's like the Blair Witch Project". Also glad it still works.
"If it sinks, it soesnt matter, it was only cheap". a bit later, panic set in, its run with the current and sank, "Oh no, We have to get it". lol. Me thinks it means a bit bore to you than a cheap boat Vince. lol. Well done on fixing it tqice. :). I enjoyed this video.
Good morning Vince, well that's an awesome amazing video with toys fixing and a little action adventure and suspense during the testing process in the small river canal... Hahaha, plus family father and son filming and searching and running and having fun.... +1000 , and guess what its just part 1 of 2 or 3 so, we're waiting for them now haha
Most of us watch the entire video all the way through but yeah some people like to have time stamps so they can choose which part of the video they want to see.
Those little helicopters are a blast. They're only about $20 each, and a great toy to take to the pub. Just about any one can fly them, and we buy a half dozen and challenge the table to helicopter dogfights.
I gutted the electronics out of a toy school bus today. It was supposed to have little figures go in it with magnets that corresponded to a location in the spot the figure sat. It was supposed to make different sounds with each figure. Water had damaged the circuit board so I just pulled all the wiring, speaker and batterys out. Kids can still use it as a rolling play toy. . My next project is a toy vacuum cleaner. It's fun watching you work on those toys. Glad you had better luck on some of yours.
You will be safe from COPPA Vince because your content is actually educational and doesn't contain swearing or anything inappropriate even when showing toys, so being marked as "not for kids" you should be absolutely fine even if someone was to actually look through one of your videos.
I have one of those boats i found it in the shed at my parents so i fixed it with upgrade to the motor, speed controller, battery pack & 2.4ghz controller. So fast now and enjoyable to use with the kids 😂 i already had the battery pack & motor from another project it was out of old screwdriver and small cheap speed controller from aliexpress the 2.4 controller was off RC Aeroplanes. Loads of fun in the summer
@@scottfirman Frankly Im happy to have been an 70' kid. In the 90' there was too much inhouse distract keeping you inside. 24/7 cartoons! Internet! Us we would jump on our bikes right after the saturday cartoons and explore the WORLD! (ok the park...) 😃
I had a remote controlled boat many years ago, it's better to use them on a large pond or lake rather than a stream, felt sorry for you when the boat disappeared and sunk, but glad toy managed to retrieve it and fix it again. 🙂
Great video! I haven't watched part 2 yet, so you may have already done this, but if you just hold the controller upside down it should control left/right, forward/back the right way round.
The boats frequency is a common one. We used to sit in the car park watching kids get confused when their cheap toy cars would misbehave - it was because we were transmitting on channel 15 on the cb radio, it causes the toys to spaz out. 27.145 is slap bang in between channel 14 and channel 15 on a 27mhz CB set :)
Something that's super great for protecting electrical connections and switches from moisture just like deoxit is a dielectric grease, it does not conduct electricity (silicon based) and protects and lubricates really well!
I played around loads with these RC Toys I learned they are all based on a custom chip known as TX2 And RX2 Transmitter and Receiver modules respectfully. Their frequencies are set by a resistor and any can be easily matched provided the RF Carrier matches. From what I could work out the Transmitter "TX2" Chip needs a resistance value x3 greater than the "RX2" Resistance. So a 2K2 in the receiver would need around 6K8 in the transmitter.. (They're quite forgiving in the tolerance).. I urge you to grab their datasheet they allow for laser / IR data transfer excellent for hobbyists , basically enabling an 8 bit data bus to serial encoder / decoder to mess around with. Taught me the fundamental principles of Computer addressing, Bus transmissions Etc etc.
Hi Vince, I don't know how you do it, but you managed to let a person like me who's not interested in any kind of adventurous stuff at all feel like: "Oh my God, I hope they'l get the boat back." And every time it went further away I was like: "No no please, hope they manage to get it back." Great one Vince; I love toy boats, a few years ago, I bought myself a tin put-put boat, do you know what I mean? I don't have a bath (and even if there was a stream in my neighborhood, I wouldn't even think of trying my put-put boat there haha), so I put it in the kitchen sync. hahahaha Oh and by the way, I am glad I am not the only one doing the tongue test on batteries; if you cannot read a volt meter (just like me), then you have to do something like that... Or, what I also do sometimes is holding both wires of a scrap little motor against the battery terminals and listen to the speed the motor is turning and as long as I know which sound it's suposed to make at a given voltage, it works quite well.

For the red helicopter, the back prop needs to be working. It is what gives the chopper forward control. It spins, lifting the tail, making the main rotors give a bit of forward acceleration.
I had a silverlit pico z helicopter which was pretty good, similar size but it had a tail rotor! It required you to put more weight on the front to stabilise, I just glued some washers on 👍🏻
hi you were very very lucky to have it back there are lot of ponds where i am the fishing lot would not be happy if i put that on the pond when there's a match on i would be happy to drive boat on a match day ha ha i am so bad
That tail rotor on the helicopter is to put the nose up/down. That is what makes it move forward and backward. I had one and I could move it forward, backward and and (as you already gotten to work) rotate around its axis and up and down. I think you should check out why you can't control that rotor on its tail
Why not try to reverse the polarity of the motor and servo wires on the boat so the controls match what you are pressing on the controller? Or maybe open the controller up and just spin the D-Pads around? Also, maybe open up the 27MHz controller that came with it and find out why it’s not working, it might still be the correct controller for it.
The helicopter needs the rear motor to work for it to have forward motion. It's got a tiny motor back there which as you said is stiff. That's where the pitch change comes from though.
put some of that blue tack stuff in that hole with the antennae. it would seal it better. Also, put some foam in it so it wont sink. Another thing, you should put a little bead of silicone around the receiver to keep it dry.
The little tail propeller is usually provides the forward momentum on these type of helis. I don't know why they cheaped out because you can pick a much better one up for around £15.
just a heads up with the RC helicopter, the blade on the back is supposed to spin so you can move forwards or backwards. I had one and that's how mine worked
That moment when your stick broke was so funny, sorry mate xD it's like a metaphore of life. Also i hope that you gonna repair that original controller, and clean boat parts with IPA to push water from them. Jesus that moment when boat was running away been so dramatic, i literraly don't even blink my eyes to not miss something.
If you cant find another controller for the boat, you could always open up the yellow controller and swap the up/down and left/right leads around so that they would correspond to the right buttons
It might have already been sayd after 3 years :) , but if you just revers the polarity of the motor on the boat, it will also move correctly to the controller
I would coat everything inside with dialectic grease and maybe seal the two shell halves with some silicone and some silicone on the aerial exit and around the prop gland exit where the shaft comes out. As its a planing hull, some ballast in the rear part of the hull would aid traction and steering quite well. Boats, everything is opposite steering anyway and some ships have been known to keep afloat by simply reversing into harbour, one story from WW2 was where a tank in reverse towed its front half blown off by a torpedo.
