Just one thing that may help you in future diagnostics: Measuring batteries with a multimeter isn't sufficient as it doesn't apply a load. So with an old battery you may measure 1.5v across the terminals, but when a load is applied (when in real use) the voltage will drop. Advice is to get a battery tester which will apply a load while testing. It's the only way to be sure your battery is in fact supplying what you expect.
I really like this idea, I hope you make more videos like this. Seeing you outside the comfort zone and trying to fix odd things is great, I'm learning with you as well.

I'm 64 now, and when I was little in the 1960s there were still a few tinplate clockwork and 'friction' toys around. Sadly, boys being boys, we would often pull them apart after a while to find out what was inside and how they worked. It's a shame, since they would be collectors' items now. Not all waste, though, since I did go on to be an engineer. (Electronics rather than mechanics, but I also have some qualifications in the latter).

There is a highly likely chance that those letter and numbers on the props were just cavity marks on the injection mold. They are put on so if there are bad parts dropping out of the mold that the person running the molding press can locate the problematic cavity.

You get a set of spare propellers for drones, usually when people brake one of the original one by landing the drone wrong. They tend to just replace propellers without watching which one is CW and which one is CCW.
Yes, to answer your question, Dr Who is very big here in the USA and we get to see the new episodes the same day you see them in the UK.I've been a fan since i was a kid like yourself and used to watch the episodes on PBS and now get to see them on Netflix or BBC America.can't wait for the start of season 11with the 1st female Doctor!
The little dimples or divots on the bottom plate of the tin train was for strength and rigidity. Don't forget to use machine oil on the gear set, it's almost like a clock movement.
hey nice video men, in case you didn't know why on the last drone the one blade was delayed like you said. It's not because it is delayed it is just figuring out wich blade's need to spin to get it flying stable again. And when you where holding it like that the blade didn't need to do anything so it didn't rotate. keep up the good work!

Showing my age, but I had one of these. The main problem is that once the tin gets bent, it damages the structural and functional integrity of the toy. Most of the time, my dad could get away with squirting in some 3 in 1. Job done!

Random little story here about rc drones. I worked at a Dollar General about a year ago and when an item got returned even if it still worked, we had to throw it away. Because of that, I was able to get an RC drone and many other electronic toys for free, dumpster diving after work lol. The RC drone has a very flimsy switch on it and with just the right angle you can flip the switch and it works perfectly fine. Wish more stuff like that wasn't so easily thrown away by companies or at the very least the consumer fiddle with the item before giving up and returning.
Fitting the probs to a Robocat racing drone is a pain in the butt if you a total noob like me but I do have a micro drone too and it's great fun to buzz around indoors

You can get replacement batteries for much cheaper from aliexpress but usually they don't come with a connector Or you could get less capacity ones with connectors but I'm not sure if that would make it unbalanced
The plate with the blue train on s slightly warped and catching where the top is buckled and catching. It would all need taking apart to take the warp out of the round plate.
The "disk" where green train is attached is bent, it is clearly visible in video and this is making a train to get stuck and the gears were leaving the holes in the "disk". Very easy fix
Ya doctor who is big in the states too I think just as big as it is in UK. Not as much don't know of the episodes before what we got In the 2000s. I do know of the stuff from '89 and back.
The age range on some of the drone toys sold online are very low compared with the actual skill needed to get them flying and keep them going. Loved the train. I think it would have been for a child of 5 to 7 and so not boring at all. An 8 year old might have been looking more towards actual train sets. The cyber man helmet was interesting. Roger Loyd Pack played the king of the cybermen in the David Tennant days and was quite scary given that they came to 'upgrade' humans to non dying , unemotional cyborgs.
yep thats about it wind it up n watch it for hours see when i was a kid we didn't have computers tablets ect and simple things had more enjoyment value to them much more than they do today.
When I was a kid I didn't have tablets or computers either, but I still had toy cars, dolls, legos, you know things you can actually interact and play with. I just don't see how that train can be very fun.
Well i guess like many kids we were different individual people and like different individual people we liked and had fun in different ways I had a very vivid imagination and used to dream of driving trains so winding the toy up and watching it go round amd round and in and out of the tunnels fueled that dream. and today i have model railway layouts. I also had a toy bus and used to play with that for hours because i used to dream of driving buses like my Uncle did at the time when i grew up i ended up driving a coach for a living. So i guess you could say my fascination and fun with that toy helped fuel my future in a way. but i also had all the toys you could really interact with like any other kid.
Although where you said it’s a Russian toy from the 60s makes me think mine was probably a reprint because I remember that my grandmother bought it for me from QVC lol
My husband and i have a few drones, we love playing with them, crash them at times and have lost a few propellers but we have always replaced them correctly. My husband had to fix a wire on his after it crashed, and the switch broke on mine but they are still playable. 🙂
I'm from the UK but have a friend from the US who lives out in Portland Oregon and I can confirm he is a huge Dr Who fan. There is in fact a bar near to where he lives called the tardis and it is all decked out in a Dr Who theme. He goes there regular and gets his fish and chips.

Excellent video - so interesting. Was the dull charger an Amazon charger? They seem unable to charge very much these days. Loving your quest to learn, without much (as you said) knowledge. I was also, once, a boy who would dismantle things out of interest, but always had leftover spare parts, and they never ever worked again.

You should really get a contact cleaner spray for cleaning switches, buttons, potentiometers etc.

The drone you were holding sideways, was acting like that because of the gyroscope in it. So it was trying to adjust itself.

dr. who is very well known in the U.S can i say its super popular id like to think so its a very very good show i love it but i can't speak for everyone but from my point of view i think its well known in the U.S.
Try me mode is demo mode. That’s the mode it’s set to when the product is in the shops. All the Disney toys are set to try me mode when it’s on the shelf.

Doctor Who is still pretty big here in the states. I have a hard time getting into it because it looks completely different from what I watched in the 1970s and 1980s. I watched it on PBS but now we’ve got BBC America dishing out 24hours of British tv to the states.
