Your bow jumper is perfect! Have a lovely birthday and time with your Mum. As ever, thanks for sharing 🥰
Thank you 😊 I love it too. Thanks - it's lovely having her here 😊
Oh my goodness Emily!!!! That bow jumper fits you so WELL!! Well done!! That is absolutely gorgeous on you. Everything the shoulders the fit the colour!! 😍
I would not change the shoulders on the Chevron jumper. It is not unwearable and to me it looks fine. Ofcourse if it REALLY irritates you and is something that makes you not wear it, by all means go ahead. I have made a tank top that was way too big - hello gauge issues 😂 - and just sewn the armhole smaller and it is definitely not my most comfortable tank top but I still wear it and in public so I just go with it and when I wear my tank top that fits well I know the purple one is just part of my journey and still a wearable item for my to use.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend ! 💜💜💜
Thank you :) I'm so happily surprised by how well it turned out. Especially as the ribbing was cast on for a different project and I just spontaneously decided to make this one instead. And who knew, navy blue is my colour?!
I like the way you think, especially if that means I don't have to rip anything out again haha
I think I'll try a trick I've heard about with a ribbon, to see if I can move the shoulder up a little without having to undo any seams, but otherwise, I think it is wearable. I'll see, as you said, how much it irritates me over time then make my decision :)
I saw your video on your tank. It's crazy how just a stitch off can change the entire fit isn't it?! 1 stitch doesn't seem like much and then BAM... hello extra 3.. 4.. inches haha I'm so glad you had success on your second attempt with it :)
Rnjoy your bday!!!! Have fun, all the best!
Thank you so much 😀
Happy belated Birthday! Your bow jumper is lovely.
Thank you ☺️😊
All lovely
Thanks 🙂🙂
Happy Birthday Emily! Have a wonderful visit with your mom ❤🎂☺
Thank you 😊😊
Oh Emily your bow jumper has inspired me and I think I’m starting on tomorrow 😊😊 Happy birthday ❤
Yay! More bow jumpers entering the world is always good 😊
Thank you 😊
Emily I think the Bow jumper is your best fitting jumper to date. Its absolutely beautiful. ❤ I'm with you on the seed stitch part on the chevron jumper, I also prefer stockinette. I am planning to make a chevron jumper and bunny jumper in the future.
Love the color of your husband's jumper on you!! Its much prettier color on you. The rust tones don't suit you as well. But that lingonberry shade just sings with your complection and makes you radiant. I know it sounds horrendous but I would frog it back to the yoke and size it down leave it a bit roomy with positive ease. I'd shortening the sleeve depth and length and shortening the body to a better lenght for you. I relize its a lot of work, but you'll wear it more and stockinette works up so fast and there's probably enough yarn to possibly make a matching beret. Cant wait to see what vintage jumper you cast on next.😊
Thank you :) I agree - and all I had to do was read the wrong instructions and use the wrong calculations to discover it haha I will definitely hold on to these knitting notes for future makes :)
Hey I add to your post. 🎉
Oh my! Your dress with all the animals is so cute! Your vintage bows jumper fits you perfectly🥰 I am hoping to knit several of the stone knits socks this year. Dyed up some yarn for it today. Thanks for keeping me company while I cut of the collar on my autumn alpine☺️😅
It's cute isn't it :)
Thank you - I'm so happy with the fit 😊
Yay! You are so good at actually knitting socks, whereas I talk about it alot haha maybe watching you will inspire me 😊
Oh no! The collar was something you were not a fan of in the last video you posted... I see it didn't improve with time! Good luck with the fixing of it 😊
I agree - the pink/pinky reds do look better on me. I have a lace top I knitted that is such a great colour but I don't love the yarn.. I need to carry the left overs with me to yarn stores and find another that resembles it 😊
I always thought orange/rust suited me but then I stared recording UA-cams and seeing myself on camera and now I'm not sure it does haha
You're right - that does sound horrendous haha
At the moment I'll keep it as it is, because in the winter I wore it and it was so warm. The long sleeves kept my hands warm and the length kept my bum warm. Every other jumper sits at my waist. This is going to be an "under the coat" jumper for a while and I'll see if I can make it work in other ways. I would actually like to find this colour in a thinner weight yarn, because then I'd happily make a smaller version and lighter weight version of it :)
Oooh the cast on-itis is already starting heehee
I have watched your chevron jumper episodes but still do not remember what thickness wool you eventually used ?
Please can you remind me. I have just bought the pattern for myself. My shoulders are also very narrow although I am bigger than you so I will do some careful measuring before I cast on. Your jumpers look so nice on your slender frame.
Awe thank you ☺️ I used sport weight wool that was 350m/100g
Definitely do a different gauge swatch for the moss stitch as it doesn't knit up the same as the chevron.. at.. all 🫣 a lot of people go down a few needle sizes but I obviously needed to adjust my stitch count overall anyway because of my yarn choice. But otherwise I'd probably still have adjusted the stitch count anyway tbh. I haven't actually followed a pattern completely yet haha always doing my own thing here and there.
I wish you lots of fun and success with your knit ☺️ it's an absolute favourite of mine.. 💕😄
@@emilykatemadethis I knit at quite a loose gauge and intend to use 4ply so I shall definitely do s swatch! Moss stitch will be no good for me because I purl at a different gauge than knit. It's a shame because I love the look of it.Also, I can't have a neckline that touches my throat so will have to do some calculations to make a necklace shape. The story continues...........!
I so admire your work! I too knitted the chevron pattern and it came out HUGE. Do you happen to have your modified pattern for sale? I would love to make this one again in the right size. ❤
Thank you :) Yeah I don't know how that pattern is supposed to be the size it says it is haha
I don't I'm afraid. I used my gauge to tinker with the numbers to get it to fit, so it's different on different jumpers and different parts of this jumper.
As I discovered, my moss stitch has a looser gauge - oops!
But as an example of what I do, I wanted the bust to be 32" (no ease), so with my gauge of 6.5st/1" that would be 32 x 6.5 = 208 stitches at the bust. So I made sure when I got to the bust, I had that many stitches. (or however many chevron repeats I could fit, in the chevrons case)
Of course, I knitted mine in the round. If you knit this flat, like in pattern, it would be 104 on each side, maybe an extra stitch on each side for seaming together.
You can do this for your other measurements, like your waist and arms, so you cast on the amount you want and increase or decrease to get what size you want, using the gauge you have.
I'm knitting the Poppy Tee top from Petite Knits at the mo. It's a challenge as it's a top down jumper and I haven't knitted one like this before - has no sewing up and is made on circular needles. really like the construction ( especially no sewing up!). loving the blue bow jumper!
The no sewing up is a definite bonus haha
I haven't knitted a top down in what feels like forever! I do have a colourwork yoke top down jumper on the list, also on circulars. It'll be a nice change.
I am sure you will rise to the challenge and it'll look lovely :)
I could not figure out how to pick up the purl when cutting with a lifeline either! Still don't know how to do it. Mine dropped and I had to use a crochet hook.
I may need to practice on a sleeve cuff or something..! It shouldn't be that hard but.... It is haha
And the amount of times I need my crochet hook, I really should buy an ergonomic one by now 😂
OH Emily Kate Just found your channel and am enjoying it. The blue sweater is so stunning. Now I hate to even say it but the shoulder on the Chevron sweater needs to be fixed. I only say this because when the shoulder fits like the blue one it is so much more beautiful. And just a thought, would the tab for the buttons be better it the longer section was on the front, if I am making my thought clear?
Hello :) Thank you so much - and welcome :)
I'm very curious what I have done to make this blue one fit so much better than the rest - I did the same calculations and yet.. somehow this one has the best fit?! I better figure it out before I get to the next one haha
I'm thinking about trying one more thing on the shoulders of the chevron using a ribbon, and then if that doesn't work, maybe by next year I'll have fixed it for the hundredth time ha but it'll be worth it I'm sure. The moss stitch gauge trips me up every time!
The buttons work just right for me now that I've moved them to the shoulders. They really didn't work when they were on my back. I'm not that dextrous apparently haha
There's so many great moments in this podcast. I love all your projects. It's a lifeline haha! Have a wonderful Birthday. Didn't see anything in your teeth, btw, and I'd do the same thing if my neighbor was watching, hahhah! All the best- Kimberly
Thank you :)
Ugh... lifeline...! Let's see if I remember that haha
I think I was actually too far from the camera this time for anyone to see, thank goodness. Usually I stand closer but I seem to have been miles away from it this time, for some reason..!
The neighbour has his wood saw out again so I'm glad I managed to film without that mayhem haha
hahaha! @@emilykatemadethis
Is making a Discord server in the realm of possibility for you? I would love to join a vintage knitting discord! And we would be able to see everyone's posts without dumb algorithm changes hiding most of them.
This is a very good point. Algorithms are destroying the fun... evil things.
I have tried Discord a couple of times but I never understood it haha there's a theme to this whole thing, isn't there!
I won't rule it out though. That would be fun. I will have a ponder on it :) Thanks for the suggestion 😊
Hahahaha about the neighbour. It makes me think back to your episode where you were lifting your skirt. I can't imagine how embarrassing that would be. Hopefully that person stopped watching you podcast, it sounds creepy!
Hahaha yes.. it was quite strange. But I think they thought that about me at that moment haha
Oh gaaawwd... The skirt episode haha 😂
😂 do you know you’re supposed to enjoy this?🧶🥴😂
Luckily I do 😄 and the drama is a thrill in itself haha
