This animation gives me WILD Felix Colgrave (the creator of Double King, etc.) vibes, but manages to stand all on it's own through a cleverly made soundtrack, captivating visuals, heavy usage of video game tropes, and all around heart. This is inspired work, and its clear you had fun seeing this idea to fruition. I'm excited for more! A serious delight to watch. I expect a full Meatball Man waltz.

Sadly enough, I think Grobletombus Marble Eyes was probably the nicest, friendliest creature in the entire story, all things considered, and if he hadn't failed his platforming section, Runmo probably would have been stuck in time/space jail for eternity, but with someone who'd patiently at least explain philosophy to him. In the Meatball Man room, anyone else notice that Runmo easily ran back to safety faster than he did running forward? I guess it fits with the concept of being more afraid of dying than living.

I just learned that the fundus is a scientific term for the upper part of the stomach and not just a silly word that Gooseworx made up, as I had believed for nearly two years until today. The Wheel of Fundus is actually a pun, and I came back just to say, Ya got me.
I mean out of everything here that was the one scene that went absolutely nowhere. It could have been cut with no effect on the plot. It just stand out bruh.
Its weird when i get actually scared, but the meatball man just made me feel like this video got into my wierdest yet scariest nightmares, that scene some will find it funny but i found it really unnerving, something that made me feel really weird and scared like never before, congrats to the person who made this animation 10/10 this is the exact representation of what anxiety and weirdness would look like.
It was probably because Runmo knew it was inevitable and he wasn't able to make it, no matter how fast he ran the meatball man was still going to kill him and he panicked and turned back. Running much faster than he had before, he probably would have made it if he ran that fast and kept going Okok I just rewatched it- it's also bc the meatball man is in the background slowly coming closer with that weird ass but funny screaming song And i now have proof that Runmo would've made it, he was a little bit more than half way before he turned back
That's existential dread my guy because something infinitely vaster than you with alien form and unknown intentions is just straight up looming over you slowly getting closer.
I like how Runmo can probably see that the path he’s on leads to an endless abyss at the end, but is so happy that he runs towards it without a care in the world anyways. I like to think he’s exploring it as a ghost now.
Meatball man is really something of a Lovecraftian horror: you can’t beat him, you can’t even fight him, all you can do is to try not to be driven mad by just knowing that he is somewhere out there, and hope that he never considers you or your world anything worth destroying or conquering. All you can do, is hide in a corner and pray for your life to not be ended by this eldritch horror that, no doubt, has already destroyed countless worlds and will destroy many more.
Plot twist: Runmo ended up in a strange place, with weird blocks and a red and white sky. He didn't look the same, but rather like a chess piece. Over time, he made friends, and soon forgot most of his past. But some things you never forget. YOU DIDN'T EXPERIENCE A GAME SHOW IN THERE, DID YOU?

The god created what he first saw, but once he got to the part where he Hadnt seen anything, the god wasn’t there to create it... because there WAS no god. So instead they throw a bunch of junk to fill it in.
i think that the reason it wasn't finished is that he wasn't meant to ever get past it. the whole thing was just meant to kill runmo to make the green juice for the kings underground and it's likely that the "god" was just another puppet of something higher. runmo was just a cog in the machine that saw too much
It's not because it's cringe and messed up that you can say it's the same... There is waaaaaaaaayyyy more effort and time put in double king (not that I didn't love this toon, tho)
This is amazing. The surreal visuals really reinforce the strange and beautiful feel of this whole artwork. The music fits so well, with the cheery tune for the beginning, and Meatball Man's theme fitting with the absurdity of that scene. I love the fact that Runmo never speaks or has a mouth, but conveys so much emotion nonetheless. I like that you can see some Little Dangers in the background at some scenes. The character design is great, too. My favorite is Pikit.
When listening to the Runmo soundtrack you can recognize a distinct style. All the songs feel like they belong together. One repeated idea I heard was extended melodic phrasing. Just when you think the melody will take a break, it continues onward. The continuation of phrases makes the song sound like its trying to tell you something, like there are lyrics but no one bothered to write them down, which gives every song a powerful onward motion. The lack of dialogue in 'little Runmo' matches nicely with this style. Its a story no one thought or wanted to tell, until now and the songs are bursting with this feeling. Contrast this with another amazing soundtrack from a game like Hollow Knight. It has melodies and styles that are repeated throughout it, but the atmosphere of the songs is far more haunting and wistful, as if longing for the old days. The themes, once again, match the story as you explore Hallownest in the wake of tragedy. The songs are more atmospheric. Songs from hollow knight do not lend themselves well to lyrics. there is no way to describe how it feels to enter the white palace for the first time or discover the once great city of tears. even the boss themes are designed to invoke feelings that words could never come close to. Runmo on the other hand is whimsical and vibrant. it is a story which is begging to be told. Adding lyrics to the OST is as natural for the music of Runmo as exploring ruins is for hollow knight. There are videos which add lyrics to Runmo songs and to Hollow Knight songs. I know which I prefer. Although it is very satisfying to hear words put to the songs, lyrics take away some of the magic of the Runmo music. Free of lyrics, it works harder to communicate the feelings, thus making each song an adventure. Gooseworx. What a truly awesome job you've done on this. I love everything about Runmo and i think its brilliant. It is an inspiration to me. Thank you!
Also what fits more towards thus, or just something to mention, almost none of the songs end properly, the only one i can remember is the lose life song, and that’s obvious. The rest are cut off and not finished properly. Even the credits song is interrupted by the life lost jingle.
Well that's how life is. You see an obstacle most would assume to be easy but you have difficulty overcoming. So you look for any way around it; you seek aid from unhelpful acquaintances, a person in a position of power, and when all else fails you look for an easier path that just makes things worse. Ultimately when he did decide to overcome, Runmo found that his reward was disappointment, as he'd made everything else so much worse simply in pursuit of an easier life.

Meatball man is really something of a Lovecraftian horror: you can’t beat him, you can’t even fight him, all you can do is to try not to be driven mad by just knowing that he is somewhere out there, and hope that he never considers you or your world anything worth destroying or conquering. All you can do, is hide in a corner and pray for your life to not be ended by this eldritch horror that, no doubt, has already destroyed countless worlds and will destroy many more.

The god created what he first saw, but once he got to the part where he Hadnt seen anything, the god wasn’t there to create it... because there WAS no god. So instead they throw a bunch of junk to fill it in.
i think that the reason it wasn't finished is that he wasn't meant to ever get past it. the whole thing was just meant to kill runmo to make the green juice for the kings underground and it's likely that the "god" was just another puppet of something higher. runmo was just a cog in the machine that saw too much

This is amazing. The surreal visuals really reinforce the strange and beautiful feel of this whole artwork. The music fits so well, with the cheery tune for the beginning, and Meatball Man's theme fitting with the absurdity of that scene. I love the fact that Runmo never speaks or has a mouth, but conveys so much emotion nonetheless. I like that you can see some Little Dangers in the background at some scenes. The character design is great, too. My favorite is Pikit.

When listening to the Runmo soundtrack you can recognize a distinct style. All the songs feel like they belong together. One repeated idea I heard was extended melodic phrasing. Just when you think the melody will take a break, it continues onward. The continuation of phrases makes the song sound like its trying to tell you something, like there are lyrics but no one bothered to write them down, which gives every song a powerful onward motion. The lack of dialogue in 'little Runmo' matches nicely with this style. Its a story no one thought or wanted to tell, until now and the songs are bursting with this feeling.
Contrast this with another amazing soundtrack from a game like Hollow Knight. It has melodies and styles that are repeated throughout it, but the atmosphere of the songs is far more haunting and wistful, as if longing for the old days. The themes, once again, match the story as you explore Hallownest in the wake of tragedy. The songs are more atmospheric.
Songs from hollow knight do not lend themselves well to lyrics. there is no way to describe how it feels to enter the white palace for the first time or discover the once great city of tears. even the boss themes are designed to invoke feelings that words could never come close to.
Runmo on the other hand is whimsical and vibrant. it is a story which is begging to be told. Adding lyrics to the OST is as natural for the music of Runmo as exploring ruins is for hollow knight. There are videos which add lyrics to Runmo songs and to Hollow Knight songs. I know which I prefer. Although it is very satisfying to hear words put to the songs, lyrics take away some of the magic of the Runmo music. Free of lyrics, it works harder to communicate the feelings, thus making each song an adventure.
Gooseworx. What a truly awesome job you've done on this. I love everything about Runmo and i think its brilliant. It is an inspiration to me. Thank you!

Assuming the game has no control issues, it's fairly simple. Not typically the first obstacle you see, but simple nonetheless.
Well that's how life is. You see an obstacle most would assume to be easy but you have difficulty overcoming. So you look for any way around it; you seek aid from unhelpful acquaintances, a person in a position of power, and when all else fails you look for an easier path that just makes things worse. Ultimately when he did decide to overcome, Runmo found that his reward was disappointment, as he'd made everything else so much worse simply in pursuit of an easier life.
And now years later... the game exists.
