- Complete Honkai: Star Rail guide for Xueyi with reference from the CN Community. Xueyi is a very unique DPS that scales with both break effect and crit, making her one of the most difficult units to optimize assuming players did not keep their break effect with crit relics since 1.0. As a unit, Xueyi opens the door to brand new archetypes of DPS that we have yet to see, so learning how to use her could make future units similar to her much easier to understand. Something which is very important in my opinion building her is to not try to optimize her.
You talked about either optimizing her or give her Seele gear with some changes for budget, but there is an even better option.
The idea is that you don't need ATK%, Break, CR, CD on every gear piece. That would be the optimum, but a subset from it with priorities CR > ATK% > Break > CD.
And this means that while farming Gear for Seele or QQ there might be pieces which aren't that good on Seele or QQ but great for Xueyi!
Something like a dbl crit gear piece, which gets Break on +3 and then a lot of upgrades into Break. This would have normally be discarded but now is great on Xueyi. A gear piece with ATK% CR and Break? Great piece for Xueyi and not so great for Seele/QQ. And that's huge in my opinion.
Also I think she can be run in a dual dps comp with ease as sub dps for Seele.
Like already mentioned, gear can be farmed for both at the same time and on top Seele's Talent gives a lot of hits and thus stacks of Karma. Then it's totally fine for Xueyi to just use basic attack because Xueyi Skill would give her 4 stacks in an optimal case but with Seele you can get a kill, another hit and then Xueyi basic are 3 stacks. Without adds Xueyi only gets 2 stacks which is the same as Seele skill and Xueyi basic.
Fu Xuan, Seele, Xueyi and Mei would be a great team because Mei is great for dual dps.
With Hanabi instead of Mei it will even be turned into a variable Seele and Xueyi Hypercarry hypercarry setup.
Yeah, I got similar idea with you. Especially on E2 you can weakness break any toughness bar. Xueyi is the stopgap character for new players. One of the best character to get if you started playing.
If you started on Topaz' banner you can pair her with Topaz. If you got Clara, pair her with Clara + Natasha for phys breaks. Got Hanya? Even better. Got Silverwolf from reruns? She made a good tandem with Silverwolf. Heck even the good ol Clara-March combo can use Xueyi if you want to. Basically you can pair her with most characters and get something out of her.
Currently she isn't the best character to build if you got 2 teams ready to take MOC, but if you only got 1 team, then she the next character you should build. Since she can benefit from a lot of substats, cd, cr, break, atk %, speed.
I agree with you, but the only thing I'd change is that break is much more valuable to Xueyi than attack up to her cap. This is because each break stat rolls an average of 5.8% while attack stats roll 3.9% so even though you end up building more DMG% on Xueyi the break still wins out, and that's without considering that the attack doesn't contribute to her break or entanglement damage.
Well, unless you're using a lightcone that boosts damage instead of attack.
I agree on the most part, but seele and xueyi might not be the best pair for dual dps.
Seele is SP hungry, she can consume up to 4 SP in just 1 turn. Xueyi also needs to skill so that's 5 SP in one rotation already. Even if you reach 134 SPD threshold on every character, that's still a poor SP economy. I can see your reasoning, I'm just reminding you that SP exists.
I still think hypercarry team works best for her.

Mono Quantum really is the best investment tbh.
Honestly, just giving her Aeon LC and atk orb might be sufficient enough when using supports that buff atk since she already gets a massive dmg bonus from having a lot of break effect.
I'm testing xueyi dual dps with qq, and the support is ruan mei. The idea is to use skill points on xueyi when enemy toughness is still on and use skill points on qq when enemy is weakness broken. It's quite fun
By far the most comprehensive video on Xueyi I've found (I've watched like, 3). I have some interesting pieces for her, but I will just farm out more while I try to farm out phys pieces for Argenti. I am curious how she works as a pseudo-preservation unit using entanglement, especially combined with Ruan Mei + Silver.

Oh, thanks a lot. I was downright malding from only getting one Xueyi and was ready to bench her, thinking as a 4* she's severely gimped without E2 or E4 like QQ.
I'm very close to having a full Thief for Xueyi, meanwhile my Argenti still doesn't have a single Boxing relic yet...
Idk I'm just so in love with this character I'm always choosing her over argenti. It's crazy cuz he deals way more dmg still her play style is peak

I had so many thief relics with crit value but I think I sacked most of them since break damage doesn't change with crit. Didn't expect hoyo to release a break effect/crit hybrid but honestly I like that they're releasing more characters with interesting stat spreads than just build cr/cd.
I don't see why Bronya wouldn't be good for Xueyi. Her action advance and ulti looks great for Xueyi.

I think the main reason is that Bronya’s buffs will have disappeared by the time Xueyi launches her follow up attacks (assuming Bronya is not E6). Silverwolf grants the def down + res penetration, and Ruan Mei gives similar damage buffs to Bronya’s, while also providing the 25% res penetration and speed. It’s looking like for DPSes that have a significant portion of their damage coming from follow ups, if you were forced to only bring one harmony, Ruan Mei is the better pick.

Kinda surprised to not see The Moles on the list of lightcones. It gives 72% ATK with a quick ramp-up time, which is higher than Aeon (obv base stats are higher here). I do believe S5 Under the Blue Sky still edges it out vs Moles but I think they should be evenly matched. And considering how valuable Aeon is for F2P's who didn't get the sig for either DHIL or Jingliu it is unlikely to be freely available to her. Mine is on my Clara for instance.
Ruan Mei ate all my weekly boss mats so I haven't really had a chance to test out my Xueyi yet. I did get her E2 tho, and I have a few "missrolled" quantum pieces that got a ton of BE% and still have double crit. I also have a god rolled 4 Thief set that Serval has been using for a long time. I wonder what will yield better results...
I have no quantum set pieces so I just went with BE 4 piece and she has some great crit rate/dmg subs
thought on the new misha forgotten hall LC on xueyi? it gives 56% BE and increases crit rate by 30% for 2 turns when the wearer uses their ult. that's at S5.

I get a lot of pieces with Break effect and break efficiency and double crit. This is why I dont throw away anything.
My Silver Wolf has the Thief set with really good crit substats. I think giving that one to Xueyi (but change the EHR body for Crit) and farming a Quantum set for Silver Wolf will be the most efficient.
You want Xueyi to break and Seele always ends up breaking the enemy with her infinite turns, so Break Effect Silver Wolf is redundant for both teams.
I think building both would work if your substats are super godly
The BE is really gonna carry you but if you can score some crits on inital hits, it cab determine a MoC or GG/Swarm run

Question about S5 The Moles Welcome you, I have this weapon S5 and dont have Fall of an Aeon so i subbed it for that since (assuming all 3 stacks which have permanent uptime by starting with a basic) You get more atk% and (possibly) faster than Aeon though you lose out on the dmg%
I just havent seen it in a single guide and I am curious if i am thinking of it wrong or if people just havent looked into it with superimpositions
Edit) Especially since S5 Nowhere to Run is always shown though it takes 5 patches to max as well as 50 USD and doesnt have the same atk% gain as TMWY
Im new to Star Rail, I got Blade as my first limited dps. It would be wise to get Kafka/Black Swan since Black Swan is wind too? Cause against a wind boss I would rather use Blade. If someone could help me with that, thanks!
Kafka is very crucial for dot team, black swan is also a very good dot unit but idk if you need her if you dont have kafka. So i will prioritize to get/build Kafka first and then other dot units
personally i'd save for next patch (rumours say the reruns are amazing)

Well since you are a new player I don't recommend Kafka yet IMO you have to beat the storyline until you get the DOT+FUA set domain and If you will play Kafka as a Dot unit with Dot partners you should also know that there is a 60% difference between Lv.1 and Lv.3 traces or Lv.3 and Lv.5 and so on and so forth. That is the weakness of Dot DPS Traces are absolutely mandatory the gap in dmg difference between 2 trace levels is way higher than standard crit based dps. Next thing you should also know if you get Kafka rn and plan to get Black swan that would mean you have to farm 2 separate Trace mats cause going forward the new units will be using new trace materials meaning you will waste more resources to what otherwise could have been used for other units. It's the only problem I see with early game dot builds.
Essentially with Kafka
Early game: CritDPScomp>>DoTcomp-Reason Multipliers are more important to clear content
Mid game: CritDPScompDotcomp- The best supports in the game are either DMG% or Crit dmg and Dots can't use crit so it is a no brainer which would be better.
Reason why in endgame crit based dps are better is because at endgame you should be able to clear MOC10 onwards and MOST crit based dps are the most consistent dps in the game and are not fucked over by bosses with multiple phases cause when a boss goes into next phase they lose all debuffs. The only exception to this is Jing Yuan and Argenti they can't get their highest dmg moves 2x in a cycle so they are worse in Major bosses.

black swan is more important than kafka
for units like her, I know 4 stars can be good, but what if it's a 4 star with no dupes? is their a point then? like is it better for me to use e3 lynx over my e0 bailu and huohuo? also I don't have ruan mei or fu xuan if that makes a difference in wether I should even build her not, also because I have every healer aside from luocha, is he worth summoning on for me anymore?
I pulled for E6 Xueyi, not Ruan Mei, and got her. She is absolutely cracked, more than I ever expected. Her FUA is insane and clears bug waves faster than even AOE characters, because each skill will trigger a FUA., as well as getting another FUA every other turn from teammates’ karma. The biggest problem with Xueyi is that she’s the only main DPS who needs/can use Attack Crit Crit Damage Break and Speed. This means virtually any offensive gear is useful, and she has the highest gear ceiling, but hitting that ceiling will take an insane amount of time/luck.
Is it worth to build Xueyi E0 if I am generally interested in her kit and want to try or will it be too underwhelming comparing to having more eidolons? Could anyone please advise.

Since she's a 4* I'm banking on the possibility of getting her at E6 soon enough, and meanwhile I'll just built her while I only got E2. I think she will do pretty well with Sparkle. A future investment I might regret down the line but oh well, ignoring elemental weakness is very versatile and I want that.

if you really need atk% buff on lc that much, you can also hook lc, i mean, on S5 it can give you permanent 72% atk buff when you max the stack, which is only 3
The problem with Xueyi are two things: Eidolons and dependance on Silver Wolf.
I mean, it's true I can just use Pela and with Ruan Mei, it'd be 2:2 team with Fu Xuan or Lynx, but I wish there's more analysis on the more F2P options.

No luck pulling for her. Only got her to E2 after pulling for Ruan Mei + 54 pity. No way I’m going to risk it for a mere possibility of E3. I’m saving the pity for Black Swan. Hopefully I can get her to E6 in a future banner.
Based on experience with Genshin, DPS characters whose offensive kit exhibits split scaling tend to always have issues when trying to optimise their build since you have to juggle the ATK/Crit with the other-scaling stat like HP/DEF/etc or in this case Break Effect.
As someone who already has E6 qingque and whose Fall of an Aeon is stuck on Clara, even though I did manage to get E6 Xueyi, I’m frankly very reluctant to build her for the foreseeable future, especially with the free Ratio already being an impending drain on resources.
It's really not the same as split scaling tends to be in Genshin since her break effect is directly converted to damage%.

I feel the same way. It's just too much resource and time investment.
For me it's all good 'cause I'm already all in on mono-quantum and I use the quantum set on Jingliu as well so going into the mines for Xueyi just means potential improvements to JL, Seele and QQ along the way but I can definitely see why others wouldn't want to try to farm for an optimized Xueyi set.

Not sure why "The Moles Welcome You" wasn't mentioned at all in the lightcone section. 72% atk when fully stacked is more overall value than a fully stacked Fall Of An Aeon with enough break%. It can be stacked in 2 turns, meaning it's hitting it's cap pretty much at the same time.

Yes its the best 4 star option but no way better than Aeon. It requires you to basic atk 1 time. You want that DMG% from Aeon break which is better suited for her who breaks often and easily.
@@Vizefon You don't want dmg% at all. the 18% more attack is much better on Xueyi than 24 dmg% because she's getting so much from her trace and even more if she's paired with Ruan Mei. The only benefit Aeon has over Moles is the 50 base attack.
I was thinking that Moles would be good for her, since it only gives atk% and that's what she's missing. I'm already using Aeons on my Jingliu and I need a weapon for Xueyi . I only have S2 Moles, but I have barely any other Destruction cones.
@@janablom823 18%? The difference at max stacks is only 8%, and what you're forgetting is that with the ~100 lower base attack on moles vs aeon, attack% from all sources decreases making that 8% difference worthless
Cause it's not 72% until you decide to waste a one turn to stack it. While it looks not that bad on paper, it will delay your ult by a turn which isn't ideal. Overall the dmg difference is still in favor of aeon while having 66% uptime vs full stacked moles and since aeon is free the choice is obvious. And if your aoen is being used by second unit then feel free to use moles. That being said we will get a bis weapon for xueyi in the next patch for free so I wouldn't bother with moles at all.

Id say qq, she really carried me before I got Jingliu, my Xuiey isnt done but pretty underwelming so far.
Took me 130 pulls to get Ruan Mei but only got E2Xueyi.
Pairing Ruan Mei and Xueyi for a dual dps team.

How much break effect is good enough for xueyi. Cuz I have been chasing break effect now it's over 180% without sphere and last break effect trace. Cr 18% and cd132%
Her E4 gives 40% BE when using ult, Mei gives 20% BE, Xueyi bonus cap is at 240%. So I think you are good with 180%

There's something that I still don't understand, why would I want to build crit instead of focusing on BE up to 240%? I thought CDMG% and the DMG% from her trace are both DMG% in calculations, so why does it matter?
If ur skills/ult/fua dont crit, they do very little dmg.

@@janerishbaluca1529dmg% and crit dmg% are separated from dmg calculation that's why you want crit too but BE it's more valuable since is easier to get and increase, anyway you'll need crit just not as much as other units

balances out, she gives more karma before break because of efficiency, essentially 'frontloads' the damage.
Got her e4, but honestly not sure if i want to build her. I don't see myself picking her over Seele in future Sparkle mono quantum team.
I'd build her if she could just use Seele's gear, but that's not the case.
I had all the stuff to build her with thief and sss, pretty underwellming so far, but i have to level her up a bit still, and I plan on staying in physical/thief domain for awhile so, I was like why not.
Treat her as a relic vacuum then. At some point you will get good thief pieces just by doing weeklies and her strenght is she uses relics that are garbage for other chars.
Just use quantum set on her with different stats, if you still farming for seele

I have her in the wrong set, I have so many speed sets lying around that got her some crazy good stats, but I'm so mad I have her sitting at E5, but I'm not wasting pulls on a 4 star. And I don't need any Eidolons on either 5 star, /sad.

Thing is that this e useful only in sweat gaming where only form of your sustain is toughness break, in any other situation it either useless or loss
@@akvirr7102 breaking the whole toughness bar with Xueyi follow-up is copium as hell, it'll happen like 1 time out of 100 in the game. And if you won't break the toughness bar completely than I see no damage loss
Well, I didn't find her to be too difficult to build. Yes, in mu case she's a subdps-breaker. We dint have to go too crazy woth her Crit Damage, as we receive enormous amount od quantum damafe directly from her break effect. Hence, we can just multiply her break effect (which is quantum damage too) by the attack dealt by NA, skill or burst. For us its extremely important to delay enemies by breaking them with Xueyi, and it will also result in enourmous break effect after 5 hits. Yes, if you manage to buid a decent crit rate alongside the crit damage, it will multiply your damage on Q, E or ultimate even more. But otherwise we could simply invest in attack on her orb and body to raise the base of her damage.
tl;dr: I mathed it and determined you should run Talia + Quantum. Break Effect (including buffs) up to 240% = Crit > ATK.
I did my own calculations yesterday on maximizing Xueyi's direct damage. The core of things is that Crit damage has an interesting increasing then diminishing returns curve that, assuming an ideal split between cr and cd, peaks at 2.1% increase per substat at ~70/140 and falls to 1.9% at 100/200.
Break effect substats contribute to all damage, since it increases your direct damage via DMG% as well as to your break/entanglement damage. If we ignore the break contributions, every substat roll is ~5.8%, equal to CV substat rolls, then at 170% BE the substat rolls is about a 2.1% increase while at the upper end, when you're nearing the 240% cap and you have Ruan Mei contributing 68% dmg%, the increase per substat roll is 1.4%.
In contrast, attack substat rolls are approximately 3.9% and already starts out as 1.8% assuming a four star light cone, and the numbers just get worse if you use Aeon and assume full stacks.
So that's a lot of numbers but what does this mean in actuality? Well, first of all Talia is the clear winner. The base 16% break effect is equivalent to Salsotto or Rutilant's 8% CR, and its conditional 20% BE is much better than Salsotto's 15% DMG% that doesn't apply to Crit and doesn't apply to skill.
Next, Quantum is better than thief set. I did these calculations under the assumption that I'll be using Xueyi as an off element breaker and it turns out that thief+Talia already saturate your break effect stat - you're starting at 170% with these sets and adding Ruan Mei pushes that to 190. Using Quantum set shifts some of your concentrated break damage into a separate multiplier that allows you to invest more rolls into break effect.
Finally, I put together a script to calculate what the optimal numbers are given you can manipulate RNG and distribute substat rolls as you like among attack, crit, and break rolls. The funny thing is that below 15 substat rolls you want to ignore crit completely, but then above it you want to fully invest in Crit. In the absence of Thief, Talia and Ruan Mei however you're actually low on break effect and you want to get substat rolls to push it up to 150%.
Now, the caveats to this are that this is purely the direct damage portion and ignores break/entanglement. Unlike how Mr. Pokke interpreted in the video, break effect is the only universal stat for Xueyi (besides defense shred and up to 240%) because only it contributes both to direct and break damage. Yeah, you don't get to double dip on it to get a squared increase in damage. So what? In my calculations I ignore the contributions of break damage because I'm not sure what portion of the damage my planned build for Xueyi will be given she's going to be an off element sub DPS. But if entanglement damage is at all a significant portion of her damage, then, just by looking at those numbers above, you should resolve to cap it. Crit rolls peak at 2.1% increase per roll. Capping your break effect in the presence of Ruan Mei is 1.4% increase to your direct damage and 1.7% increase to your break damage. Solving for this, if break damage is more than 30% of Xueyi's damage output, you should max out break damage.

This is why you build her. Xueyi is the straight superior waifu, has an interesting kit and Seele is a bitch. (i have both and I fucking Hate Seele so fucking much and only use her because she was the only decent quantum damage dealer, now i can replace her with the cute robo waifu Xueyi)
