@@kotarojujo2737 Nope, not only for Javanese descent. I'm Chinese Indonesian and can easily relate to our Chinese Surinamese brothers and sisters. If I see someone with the surname Tjioe, I can guess they're Chinese Indonesian or Chinese Surinamese. Chinese from English speaking countries would spell the same surname as Chew or Chiu. And amongst Chinese Indonesians and Chinese Surinamese, many are Hakka. So through our shared origins and experiences in former Dutch colonies, we can easily relate on both a superficial and deeper level too. There are also Indian descent in both countries. In Indonesia, many of the Indian descent are Sindhi and Punjabi in Java, and Tamil in Sumatra. I'm not sure where in India the Indo-Surinamese originated, but I'm sure the two can relate to some extent for the same reasons as the Chinese and Javanese descents in both countries.
Crazy how these ancestral lines work and how people were transported to different continents. I'm South African and most of the mixed and Asian people from the Western Cape(Cape Town) part of the country are descended from Sumatra and the Java islands in Indonesia, as well as Malaysia, The Philippines and India. Only a few of Indonesian descent can speak Basha fluently. Both my parents are mixed with Javanese and African ancestry, but my mom has Indian ancestry as well. A única coisa que eu sabia do Suriname é que teve aquele episódio do suicídio em massa no final dos anos 70, que na verdade foi na Guiana...

This marks the time I’ve MOST wanted to visit a country after watching a GN episode!
Hopefully one day you'll be able to😌
I'm actually really impressed on how much information you popped in one small video and very accurate I might say. 🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷

The "Eenheid in verscheidenheid" word is the exact same word in Indonesia if we translated unity in diversity into Indonesian language, which is (very obviously) written "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" or "Bersatu Dalam Keberagaman"

my relatives from the Philippines are staying in Suriname ... i hope i can visit this beautiful place
This was an awesome episode as a South African, Suriname reminds me of home with all the same people groups with the exception of the maroons and the creoles and Apartheid. they also have a Dutch connection. Big ups to Suriname

It's really awesome how this country brings people together, and how this channel brings people together! Just in the comments here I've seen Indians, Indonesians, West Indians, Brazilians, Dutch, and people from Surinam itself all sending love to each other. This channel really is something special to be able to facilitate those conversations. And this country is something special too for all these people to be able to hold on to their culture while at the same time uniting together (we Americans have a lot to learn from them). Even me, as a Jewish person, now feel connected to the place cause even some of us wound up there!
I was waiting for this for so long! You did an awesome job in this country's episode!

There is so much more amazing food from the Suriname. It may be my favourite cuisine. It's like the best food from India, China, Indonesia, West Africa mixed together (+ Dutch, Native Amerindian, Middle Eastern, Jewish). It's just amazing.

Suriname is our long distance brother, much love from Indonesia 🇮🇩❤️🇸🇷
Jawa
only for Javanese descent
But the weirdest thing for me, my last name is actually Filipino and don't have a clue where that came from😁😁😁
@@kotarojujo2737Indonesia used to be called Netherlands Indie in the old days. It was also a dutch colony like Suriname. That makes us brothers.

Anyway would be interesting to mention that Surinamese people in the Netherlands have a big influence on pop culture, music, humor, and all kinds of sectors.
