►A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17-19, then went part-time ever since, holding 'day-careers' like chef (red seal papers), spiritual health care while raising a family. As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, playing International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I like to explore grunge, pop rock and alternative, alt-folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar, ambient electronic and classical as well. Recently i 'discovered' shoegaze and lo-fi. I have a home studio that is ramping up for lots more music so stay tuned.

Oh, you have Miku and Kanami mixed up😅No. 5 Miku was doing the scream and No. 4 Kanami was doing the solo.

Yes. Saiki's live vocals these days sound amazing. So much more vocal and emotional power, with wider range and it flows much in the same way the other instruments do.

MISA and Akane are the most intuitively brilliant "rhythm sections" in rock.

This was song #27 out of 33 during a 3 hr 45 min long concert featuring only themselves! No Opening acts! Endless energy and stamina! Love your channel.

Dean - Since you love Saiki's singing (as we all do ;-), check out Endless Story from this same Yokohama concert. 🤘😍🎀

Saiki and Miku's growth have increased the bands range and impact, both have worked hard and gained impressive results. Imho no band is as consistently excellent at composition and performance.

Tanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter ).
Please react to "Endless Story" from the same show that was also uploaded recently. I believe you will get weepy like I did at the venue and when I watched the video.

Great reaction and very good analysis. This was number 27 of 33 songs that night, 3.5 hours total. They have infinite energy and after the concert, Akane put a ramen restaurant out of business.

I had a similar journey as you when it comes to Saiki's vocals

Like you I did not care much for Saiki's voice when I first started to listen to them. Things changed quickly and I have fallen in love with that voice. With every new song now, I can't wait to hear where she is going to take me with that wonderful instrument she has. So much control and passion and musicallity in her voice. There are songs were I just sit and wait for a certain part just to have her enthrall me. Great reaction Dean! I have subscribed and am looking forward to traveling with you on your musical journey that hopefully includes more Band Made - the greatest rock/metal band in the world today!

Her early studio vocals were too clean. I always preferred her live vocal even when she was inconsistent with limited range. Saiki isn't the same singer we used to kind of dismiss. The power of her live vocal is incredible. Even some die-hard Miku fans are starting to begrudgingly appreciate Saiki's singing.

I can kind of understand why Dean-san wasn't interested in vocalist Saiki at first. I am also a fan of Prog-Rock, so my introduction to BAND-MAID was the instrumental tune "onset".
However, Saiki's singing ability has improved tremendously over the past few years, and before we knew it, the BAND-MAID had become an invincible group.
BTW, It's a bit sad that Dean-san, who always gives a favorable reaction to BAND-MAID, still has a vague distinction between Miku and Kanami.😂

    • @lurkmerchant
      @lurkmerchant 22 дні тому +1

Kanami doesn't wear the same traditional maid uniform like Miku anymore so it's easier to tell which is which now. Both are cute and adorable though. 😂

By the way, you did a reaction to "giovanni" three years ago(ep.270), and this song has a "white room edition" like "without holding back."(ep.690)
So why not take a look at how crazy and Prog the song was already when it was an instrumental?
