There was a new Boss theme released around 3 weeks ago for “Apep” called “God Devouring Mania”. Absolutely wonderful piece of music, Hoyoverse does not miss with it’s boss themes.
Still my favourite boss theme in Genshin, it's just so big and epic. I've always liked game orchestral music but Genshin gave me a even bigger appreciation for it.
14:10 It is a double string instrument from “Hu Qin (literal translate: foreign instrument, Hu means foreign)” family. This family consists of a lot of instruments in the similar shape but different materials, pitch and sound “Zhong (middle) Hu”, “Er Hu”, “Gao (High) Hu”, “Ban Hu (frequently used in Hakka music, very “flat” sounding )”, “Jing Hu (Used in Beijing’s traditional opera singing, playing the same notes along with the singer to emphasis the vocal). We refer the two strings as “inner string” and “outer string”, with the former lower than the latter in a scale of 5. Zhong Hu has the tuning of GD(442hz), Er Hu has D(442) A, and both Gao Hu and Ban Hu has GD an octave higher than Zhong Hu. And lastly Jing Hu has the highest DA, an octave higher than Er Hu. Sometimes the tuning can be adjust slightly to match the requirements of the song, such as the very popular song 二泉映月 (The Spring Reflecting of the Moon) composed in 1950s has a tuning of CG on Er Hu, or a lot of them like to use Zhong Hu to express the feeling of vicissitudes of life. I played these instruments for 8 years and have a decent long list of popular songs in my hand. If you really like them I can recommend a lot of those to you! (Or even that of Pipa, Bamboo flute.)
When you said the guy takes half of the screen.. haha He indeed does take half of the screen, your playable characters are so small in comparison to his legs that I think a lot of players sometimes lost the sight of their own characters amidst dodging Azhdaha's elemental attacks and/or his infamous "death stomp". Azhdaha's Rage Beneath the Mountains has always been one of my favorites along with the newest weekly boss' Warden of Oasis Apep and Sumeru's overworld battle theme: Gilded Runner. Oh hey, why not try listen to Gilded Runner? If you want to hear "whacky but cool time signature", go try listening to it!
Childe (or tartaglia)'s theme along with Dvalin and even Andrius' themes are soo good! If anything i do really reccomend many of the other tracks like Hustle and bustle of ormos (town theme) Jolts in the forest (jadeplume terror shroom music) Gilded runner (overworld battle theme from sumeru) Die Mittsommernacht-fantasie (a battle theme we can sadly no longer hear in game 😭 but is related to the character fischl) Duel in mist (imazuma battle theme)
Yup. Same here. This is one of my favorite boss theme in Genshin. Though, this big bad boy here isn't connected to the previous ones you reacted to (signora and scaramouche) since Azdhaha is associated with another nation in the game.
If you like other instruments from the same family as the zhonghu, I suggest giving a listen to "Cinnabar" from Land of the Lustrous/Houseki no Kuni. It uses an erhu for a very slow, sad sound.

Whenever I hear this theme, I always feel that Rimsky-Korsakov could have written something like that. Especially part 2 sounds kinda similar to one of his compositions.
Although I like all of the boss themes a lot, this might be my favourite. It's probably because this is very symphonic metal and I have a weak spot for symphonic metal.

A bit of background, azhdeha means dragon in Persian and one of the regions in genshin takes a lot of inspiration from Persian (and MENA) cultures. I didn't hear any traditional Persian instruments in the song(which makes me a little sad) but it was pretty great. Also, there's either an ancient Persian tyrant (named Azhi dahak) that is named after it or vice versa.
Even though Azhdaha's name is taken from Persian, the area he's "from" is inspired by China, so I wouldn't expect to hear Persian instruments here. The area in which he was subdued by Rex Lapis in the story is along the border of the area that was inspired by Persia though (Sumeru).
As the instruments used in the genshin music come from the region the character/ location is inspired from.. So, as azhdaha’s origin is Liyue (China), so it’s pretty obvious that they would use traditional chinese instruments in it more instead of Persian instruments
I have a recomendation for you man. Its two songs, ORDER, and Tenebre Rosso Sangue. Both are from the game Ultrakill. They both slap so hard. Even if you dont make a video on them, you should still give them a listen.
After watching your videos, I'd like to hear you playing a drum cover of a genshin theme someday. That would even leave an open window for collaborations with other UA-cam musicians, I think.

The "high xylophone" parts at the beginning are actually supposed to remind you of sounds of pickaxes hitting rock.

That much was definitely apparent. The influences were distinct and it did well standing as its own movement
