My school has a three step process which is Run- if the person is not near the classroom, Hide- If the person is too close to the classroom, and Fight if they are in the room or are trying to get in. The hiding part is not just lock the door and curl up in a corner though, the teachers are trained to block the door with desks and stuff... I'd say its a pretty good technique, and wonder why it isn't implemented in every school.
it’s so fcked that schools actually have to do drills like these what is wrong with some people
yea in canada they put shutters over the windows if they have them, but they tell us to fight
@@arph100 Bullies🤷♂️. And our society that focuses on popularity and shuns the outcasts. When you break someone to where they have nothing to lose, school shootings happen
In the UK our government restricted access to guns after Dunblane in 1996, so we've never had these drills. Some sporting, muzzle-loading, and historic guns are still legal but most are not (apart from in Northern Ireland). That said, the official advice to students in the 1960s was that if a nuclear b**b was dropped on their school they should duck-and-cover under their desks!
In my school , you close the door turn off lights and each student hkde under the desk , its like if we do that , we become invisible .

My teacher has actually told me that the reason we do that in a tornado drill is because if the school gets destroyed they can easily find all the bodies in one area-
bro wha💀💀💀
well sure, but the odds of a school getting destroyed by a tornado are extremely low. most tornadoes would do close to nothing to a school. and if a tornado did do damage, it would be safest to do what you do in drills. EF5 tornadoes are probably the only ones that would level a school completely, and the last EF5 in the entire world happened 11 years ago
Ok, so hear me out. When I was in Elementary school there was a real fire. (Which was ironic because it was the week the alarm was not working) So our principal came on the intercom and said "This is not a drill, there is a fire in the 2nd grade hallway" and ong, my teacher just told us to RUN. There was 20 3rd graders running for their LIVES at that point. I had seen a class come straight out of the smoke it was crazy. (I put more effort into remembering this and writing it then my essays)

One day my shop teacher was like “we’re gunna arm ourselves with weapons” and bro whipped out a wrench 😭😭
In my senior year of high school (2021), our fire drills changed, whenever the fire alarm (when we had planned drill they would set it off) went off we had to WAIT and just sit in class like everything was fine until the teachers got a notification on their phone and the app was ass half the time it didn't even work so we had to wait with the fire alarm blaring until admin finally realized the app wasn't working, it happened multiple times lol, this was all because they were afraid a school shooter would pull the fire alarm to get ppl out of the classrooms. Also, we had A.L.I.C.E. school shooter drills. Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. It ended up being all of us just fucking around talking about how we would beat the fuck out of a school shooter.

When the school drill comes in clutch with a perfect timing
My school doesnt do the corner thing anymore we talked about escape routes and how to fight back.
Our school had a really bad kitchen fire and the fire alarm was pulled tbh every one was pretty calm and remembered the drill
12:24 when the tornado sees the kids in the position, it turns around and leaves
3:32 I think it'd be metalwork because there's a lot of heavy objects to barricade doors, and they have so many things you could use to defend yourself, also so many big machines to hide behind.
The best way I could think of would be to only tell the teachers on where to hide escape etc. so if the shooter is a kid in the class they won’t know but if they issue an emergency the teacher can quickly explain what to do.
what if the shooter is a teacher?
In my high school we heard about a tornado on the ground near us so we all went to the library since it was the center of the school and pretty much just sat there and accepted the fact if it hits us we are just done for. I think some people thought I was psychotic because rather than panicking with others I was sat at a table reading my Bible. The way I saw it is I didn't fear death and might as well read the Bible after I got through praying. I think some people saw me different after that, realizing I was one of the only ones who wasn't terrified about it.

One time there was a school shooting drill/lockdown drill whatever you call it, needless to say the vice principal forgot to say the drill part. Bitch I was down the street so fast, I ran to my aunt’s house. Luckily I never got in trouble because the teacher and the rest of the class ran too.
Edit: Should probably explain, every outer class has emergency exit doors.
Good thing my house is 2 min away from the school , like if any shooting happens , me and my friends are just safe there , like if we run it even takes a min or less
oh my lordy degenerocity and joe bart. an absolute masterpiece
I remember in middle school the lunch ladies caught a plastic bag on fire and I saw it and someone yelled “FIRE” and bro I’ve never ran so fast. I literally jumped down the stairs 💀
My school just “locks down” and tells us to hide. I had a intruder drill in our gym once, I just went in the supply closet with all the spots stuff, and found a screwdriver
Maybe for the real school lockdown plan, the teachers and head administrators can advice the same plan but at school tell the kids a fake plan, so if it actually happens then the teachers can quickly explain to the kids and lead them to the plan 😮
That’s not gonna work, drills are things to be practiced, so teachers hastily telling a whole class a completely different plan than what they’ve been practicing, during an intense situation, would just lead to chaos.
but watch how confused the white kid that isn’t the shooter will be once he sees everyone simultaneously heading to the basement and putting on armor in sync
My school doesn’t make us sit in a corner, for drills we are allowed to hide anywhere as long as the teacher agrees it is a safe spot, and in case of a real situation there are exit routes (windows, closets that connect out to the hallway where an exit is, etc)
My school has a lot of issues with the fire alarms either going off on their own or being pulled for a very minor kitchen or lab incident (kitchen fire/ gas leak). They always tell us when it's a drill but 99% of the time the alarm got pulled was an accident or some dickhead kid. It might be real but we never run. We just take our phones and walk out into the snow.
I live in Ottawa, Canada and I grew up doing regular lockdown drills, only I didn't think they were for shooters. Because I don't live in the states school shootings were not a thing I was worried about growing up. I can count on my hand the number of incidents this city has had in the last 30 years. They always made us think that lockdowns were in the event of an unwanted stranger somehow getting into the school, when in reality it's almost always a student or recent grad.
Bruh i love degen and joe. This is too good.
as a minnesotan student the drills we have are extreme weather (blizzards, tornados, etc), earthquake, lockdown, lock drill(lock doors but resume class like normal). Surprisingly we dont do bomb threat drills, although my school had a threat last year so half of the kids didnt show up.
I live in MN aswell! I’ve never had a blizzard drill tho
@@hihihihihisss it was mostly just an inside joke between everyone at my school
3:45 best class has to be shop, there’s hammers, saws, screwdrivers etc
Joe B never disappoints us with his content!
In my school, the best place to be during a lockdown is the janitor’s closet because ours had access to the roof, the ceiling etc.
Bro these are the 2 funniest UA-camrs I’ve been waiting for this crossover
once in 5th grade we had a shooter and no windows, I literally grabbed a staple and a big ol textbook and I was ready. I finally released how scary that was all these years later.
i remember in elementary school, we used to always have lockdown drills and in 5th grade the alarm went off so we thought it was another teacher were all sitting there laughing and talking and stuff then it stops the day continues normally but at the end of the day they hand us a paper saying a girl entered the school trying to attack staff because her son was expelled and they just had us sit in class even though she most definitely knew there was school
7:40 Movies have warped our minds. Humans can’t travel through regular vents
We do “run, hide, fight” drills. If we can run; we can, if their near us, we hide. And if they come in we have every right to do anything against them.
6:00 I'm not slow, I just have Asthma
We had stone walls when I went to school. And my teachers always said that they would push something in front of the door. One of my teachers told us he has golf clubs in his class room. They also told us they would tell us whether or not it was safe to leave. Most told us that if it was clear in that specific hall, we would be allowed to leave the school. The teachers would always say, “they would have to get through me to get to you all.” Even if they were the epitome of Noah In the Bible.
You and degen are some of my favorite youtubers so this is W.
bro ur vids are just way too awsome and funny and they wake me up when im tired

That’s the tricky thing about school shootings you really can’t do much else except hide besides running out of the school if You have the opportunity and the shooter is not near you but if the shooters in the hall, you don’t have much other option except maybe run out the window or something or probably hide idk. Teachers will also say to fight back if they don’t have a gun or instead have a bat or something. One of my teachers has bug spray in her classroom bc it basically works as pepper spray if it gets in their eyes.
I love how this comes out when yesterday there was actual fire at our school cuz some kid thought it was smart to put a hot pocket it the microwave for HALF AN HOUR

My high school had a b0mb threat, and the faculty had us all walk slowly to the football field. I think if there was an actual b0mb, everyone would've been screwed.
And when it comes to fires, I've had some experience with fire incidents as an RA. Technically, the RAs are supposed to go to the first floor and get a card that tells us which door to hold open, then go to that door. I won't lie, during the actual fire incidents, I just tell every resident I pass by to get out of the building, and then I go to the closest door myself.
And with tornado drills, the thought process is that 1) the hallways have fewer or no windows or other small objects that can be easily thrown around by a tornado and 2) getting closer to the ground should (hopefully) make it more difficult for strong winds to lift you up or knock you over
There was tornado warning and I was in the hospital. They wouldn't let me get out of bed, so they rolled us all into the hallway. It was crowded. Also made me laugh.
0:05 this is scary

Joe when you mentioned bomb drill I was laughing only because my school got threatened with a bomb and we stayed a outdoor facility for two and a half hours and got out early 💀
Once in school during lockdown drills my social studies teacher had a sword he was able to use for educational purposes
my school has ONE main hallway. then a main stairway. there’s about 10 exits. 2 side stairways that have doors and if you’re near those, you can easily leave. there’s the drama areas that are also have a 2-3 doors. then there’s the main doors. the doors near the gym.
3:35 in my physics class we also had chemicals, and the teacher literally encouraged us to throw chemcials at the shooter if there is one.
While I was watching this video, a greatest idea for a school lockdown drill came to my mind.
What if in every classroom we have a hidden vent on the floors in the corners. Like the classrooms that have the floors are made up of these hard slabs have suction cups so that we can remove a slab that hides the secrets vent, and for the classrooms that have rug floors, you just pull the rug and then put it back in and have all the vents be big, and have those vents lead out the outdoors and have the school not telling anyone about this other than the staff so that the intruder doesn’t know about that.
Well you just told everybody so now the intruder knows
what if the intruder is a teacher and the kids will find out in the drills or will you have a fake drill?
That is a good idea, but again, schools are broke
6:52 Carl Duty 💀
They actually changed the school sh***** drills, well for my school anyways.
lock the door and put as much stuff in front of the door to deny the shooter access from the room, we’re also supposed to stand scattered around the room holding something ready to attack and make as much noise as possible to try and overpower the sh***** as fast and as quickly as possible.
And if you’re not inside a room you’re supposed to just run away from where the sh***** is at. Which in my opinion is miles better then sit behind dry wall and try and guess who the imposter is.
Our entire school has gotten use to fire alarms and no one notices and keeps going on, and we had a lockdown drill earlier today and we still didn’t take it serious, we more than likely would’ve died😂
Joe there was a shooting where someone pulled the fire alarm and got everyone out and then shot them so now at my school we have to wait 2-5 minutes so they can check the building EVEN IN A REAL FIRE
