Looks like a poor country with two classes, those without money and those with money. I wonder how many million motor bikes there are there. Also doubt all those shanties along the tracks have any kind of indoor plumbing,

Thailand is not a rich country. The difference between rich and poor is very big. But it's not only a very beautiful country, it's also very safe. As a tourist, you don't have to worry about your safety. Motorcycles are the best way to get from one place to another in cities like Bangkok. You can quickly get through the constant traffic jam on the main roads. But yes, even the simple houses have sanitary facilities.
