  • Jafar Barron is sharing is love of music with this unusual instrument. He found his love of music when his father came home one day with a clarinet and eventually, he got introduced to the trumpet. He plays the pocket trumpet and it is called that because it's made to be more compact. But it still has the same range of sound. He sits in Rittenhouse Square playing his pocket trumpet and many people stop and listen.

Not sure, but it was absolutely annoying.

Jafar is awesome! But some advice: Leave the background music out of it. It completely takes away the shine from the subject and the charm of what you're representing.

I watched it a few times. I have a background in production as well music programming for radio and a lot of audio recording experience. All I can figure is that this annoying and completely unrelated background music track was probably not on the original TV news broadcast. I think the producers or ABC network added that in specifically because they knew it was going on UA-cam and they didn’t want to have to pay as Fees for the song. By mixing in other music it gets past the audio sensors that would normally pick up on that. Let’s face it The great old classic song “nature boy“ is probably not in the public domain. In the bigger picture this is just a producer being cheap, they want to put it on UA-cam and get a lot of clicks but they don’t want to pay the publishing clearance rights for the music the man plays on the trumpet. That’s my feeling, the background music is simply a distracting mask over the trumpet, fully intended to mess up the copyright infringement sensors, and sadly… They did this at the expense of the viewer. Can you imagine being the trumpet player and referring people to a link of this video? It would be like taking your résumé and Tearing it in half before you mail it to someone who is considering employing you

Nice little documentary but I have to wonder why the segment producer decided to have them edit in some other music that was not in the same rhythm, it was not in the same key and in general it was a really bad sound mix of voice trumpet and background music plus the ambient noise from the park. Sorry, but this is not Emmy award winning news production, I get this thing about a C minus I gave the musician an A+

I used to play my jazz solos on a pocket trpt while in the Marine Corps Band 71 - 74. I found it in a local pawn shop......more stuffy than a cornet, but playable.

I think the father came home with a cornet, not a clarinet. The cornet is very similar to a trumpet, but has more conical tubing giving it a softer, more mellow sound than the trumpet.

Can you post this without random ass background music please? It's not even in the same key as what he is playing half of the time.

Rule no 1 when making a video about music, don't have unrelated music playing in the background. Like duh!

You should not play canned music over the top of a musician playing live music. It’s like talking over someone, or looe bringing a jam box to a recital.

Is it just me or does Jafar look and sound like Tim Meadows "The Ladies Man" ?

1, never actually showed him playing anything good. Anybody can noodle the valves after a couple hours of figuring out the embouchure.
2, had background music over what he did play.
