This video is amazing. I'm a 18 yr old Christian who veils fully(no hair showing or neck). I felt convicted to dress modest and to veil. In the beginning, I was really scared about how i would dress because i didn't own anything modest but it worked out 💗
I think researching modesty in Christianity and other religions has helped me a lot. It really gives you an idea and inspiration on how you wanna dress and why you do it.

Hi, can you please research this further? Start by looking to understand why the Apostle Paul was saying this in 1 Corinthians 11:13-16 that says, "Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice-nor do the churches of God." Notice that the long hair is the covering itself. No veil needed. Not even Jewish women in Israel today wear it. Dressing modestly means different things in different cultures. Certain places in China, for example, considers bad for a woman to wear pants because it is considered man's apparel but they men don't consider sensual for a woman to wear skirts with long slits showing her entire thigh. I saw a man hitting on a woman who had a full burka on once because he saw her ANKLE. Do you really believe that covering yourself more is the answer? Modesty in God's eyes is woman dressing in a way that celebrates our beauty in pure ways, meaning in ways that men will not look at us as pieces of meat but as respectable women they would introduce to their mothers for marriage and there are tons of women who receive that honor (including myself) without needing to be completely covered. You simply dress in a way that you do not enhance the more sensual parts in you. If you have a big butt that you know a certain type of jeans will enhance, do you wear that jeans. Simple as that. If you believe you exude sensuality regardless of what you wear though, then the heightened sensuality might be part of you as a person and needs to be dealt with spiritually so the Lord will get rid of that in your walk, in your posture etc but you were not called to hide who God created you to be to avoid others from sinning. Men (and women) with perversion in their soul will sin about you regardless. All you do is to not provoke them to sin by enhancing the elements in your body that an person is usually attracted to. Please keep looking for more wisdom on this and honestly ask yourself in a few years if your life with the Lord has truly become more intimate after veiling yourself. Please also study hard on the differences between the Old Testament covenant God had with his people and the New Covenant Jesus brought. You'll see why it's useless for us, under the new covenant, to follow the customs of the Old Testament. Many blessings to you!

@@bluezy710 What provoked you to comment this?? What I choose to wear does not concern you. Idc what other women are wearing in other countries. I chose to dress this way because it's my choice and God commanded me to dress modestly. I cover myself because I want to. I don't have to cover every inch of my body, but I choose to. @@pringl3112 What provoked me to comment here is my desire to have you think for yourself on this matter so you don't fall into the trap so many women are falling with covering themselves and then realizing it's actually leading them away from an intimacy with the Lord Jesus and putting them into a legalistic mindset, especially with you being so young. It's important you understand that modesty and head coverings are not synonyms. Just your attitude when replying to me is being a red flag. If your relationship with God is that great, why would you have such hostility in replying to a respectful comment by me? Especially with the fact that this is the internet, and a public place for all to share their minds. Please think about that.

Thankfully, Paul wrote to the Corinthians as a whole church, and not just to whomever wanted to listen. Moreover, while Paul wrote to Corinth, he was in Ephesus. So for him to say that this practice is done in all the assemblies, meant it was done in Ephesus.... all the churches.... not just Corinth😊

I’ve recently started attending a small church, where many women cover. I had to study it for awhile before starting to cover. It made sense to me once I understood its Gods ordinance. Now I’m on the hunt to get various coverings for modest apparel. At first, it felt a bit difficult because it was very new to me. Started at age 60, and I feel it’s right! More of God, and less of me in reverence to our Lord.

What is God's ordinance about it? Because according to the covenant our generation is under with God through Jesus, the Apostle Paul makes it very clear that the long hair of a woman is her veil itself. 1 Corinthians 11:13-16 says, "Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. I would like to add my two cents here after reading this discussion. First of all I believe we should follow the teaching in 1st Corinthians 11. The main problem here is the misunderstanding of 1st Corinthians 11 altogether. I also have made an intense study of this passage, and the obvious conclusion is that Paul was referring to long hair being the covering.
The first thing one should take notice is the lack of wording required to conclude that a veil is being referred to here. The word veil or cloth is not in the text if we read from the King James version. If you read from the “modern” versions then you might get that view but not from the Textus Receptus.
I would like for you to reread the verses that allegedly refer to a veil which is 4-7 and 13. In those verses we read the words, cover, uncovered and not covered. According to scholars these are used as adverbs. Like if you were to say I am going to cover my feet. No one should be thinking of a veil just the action of being covered. What is missing in these verses are nouns that would prove the idea of veils. Since we should not be assuming anything we should be asking the question what is the thing that a woman should be covered WITH based on the passage ALONE? So if you do the math you would find that Paul refers to hair directly 3 times and then indirectly 4 times with the words shorn and shaven. So if there is no noun for the word veil or cloth yet there are 7 instances of idea of hair, then what are we to conclude? That Paul is referring to hair whether it be short or long.
But the counterargument would be that Paul is allegedly telling women to put something on. But that is not exactly true it says a woman should be covered, but he is referring to long hair based on the surrounding verses. But what about that a woman ought to be covered when praying or prophesying? The assumption is a that Paul was referring to only two instances which is not true he was merely giving us two examples. This also applies to men about being uncovered. Evidence of this is written in the forgoing verses. Paul writes that men ought not to cover because he is the image and glory of God. And then Paul goes into how woman was made for man and is the glory of the man. So it would seem that man shouldn’t be covered at any time if he is the glory and image of God. Paul also mentions that the mere observation of a praying woman should make us note how uncomely (unappealing in appearance) for a woman to be uncovered. Paul states this in a way that it should be obvious to anyone that she looks off in verse 13. He does this again in verse 14 about how shameful it looks if a man has long hair. He says it this way…
Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? KJV
So this judgement that we should make is exclusively based on observation of an “uncovered” woman as well as a long haired man. Two consecutive questions both appealing to something innate or within us. Paul is in essence saying that it should be obvious to see that something is wrong or off.
So how is it that for the women we are somehow to know within us that a woman would be unappealing in appearance without a manufactured veil? That does not seem logical especially since the word veil is never mentioned. Unless that is not what Paul is meaning but rather that if the woman was not covered in long hair (meaning her hair is short) doing something holy or godly LIKE praying or prophesying. I think most people can relate that looking at a woman with short hair does have an unappealing appearance. It naturally provokes head turns. And if there was any question Paul flat out states what he was talking about in verse 15.
So the facts are that there no nouns to use as evidence of a veil. There is evidence that Paul was using praying and prophesying as examples. Paul appeals to nature and something innate within us to judge that being uncovered or covered (meaning having short hair or long hair) should be obvious to all. So this cannot make sense with a manufactured veil.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm a Christian and have been looking more into head coverings. There's are still things I don't understand, like if it needs to cover your hair? But I understand it is symbolic. Do you wear it all the time or mostly in church? The Lord has already convicted me to dress more modestly. I used to think, because I am skinny and not too curvy I dont need to think much about modesty, however I found thats not the truth and it is more about it being an act of obedience. I am starting to feel that way about a head covering as well but I like the style of a scarf over the hair, curious what other Christian women who do this think?

    • @FaithsOven

I wear a covering most of the time. God is everywhere not just in church so when praying (I believe we should be ready to pray at any given moment) same with prophesying... We have biblical studies at home with our children and my daughter and I wear a covering even then while at home also... Not all day all of the time but we are in the mind to be prepared. We are all in works. As long as we are of this world we are sinners. We ask for forgiveness and repent during prayer. Apostle Paul stated fornus to cover our head. Our hair is not a covering. Just like we are not suppose to dress like men and men not like women. ❤

I feel the Holy Spirit leading & am praying for the strength and courage to step out in faith regarding covering. I'm in the US & there are only 2 other women in my church who cover.

I agreed with you in covering hair while women praying, but there is no commandment in Bible for women to cover their hairs. I'm sorry sister Faith Rebecca was in her way for her groom and this is Middle Eastern tradition the bride covers her face before her groom comes and reveal her face as surprise. Regarding Turkish women, they cover their hair because they are Muslims and that is a part of their religion. I'm sorry again we are not Muslim, but if you want to cover your hair, that's up to you, but it is not commandment from God.

@@ashoriamesopotamia9881Hello and peace. It isn't left up to us. It's an apostolic decree for functioning in the assemblies of God. If this were optional, Paul would've written it in the same manner as he wrote Romans 14, but he doesn't. In Romans 14, Paul says not to break fellowship because of disputable matters. Meanwhile, with 1st Corinthians 11-14, Paul tells those who are spiritual and prophets to test that what he's written is a command from the Lord😮.
      ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
And in Luke 10:16, the Lord said that if we reject those whom he has sent, we are rejecting him, and also God the Father.
There is nothing optional about obeying a command of the Lord.
As Christ said in John 14:15, if we love him, we will keep his commandments.
And, the Father instructed us to listen to the one he had risen up like Moses, or we'll have to answer for ourselves in Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
      Peace to you

To start off there was no “apostolic decree” for functioning in the assemblies of God regarding this topic of head covering. There is no mention of assemblies and much less about a veil or a hat. If veils were what Paul was talking about he would would have made that clear. Instead we have the words long hair, shorn and shaven written all twice for a total of six times. These are words related to hair and to ignore the context should show the bias of how far some will go to manipulate the idea of veils. Paul was referring to covering up in long hair and men with short hair.
The way to obey this command is for women to simply keep their hair long and men’s short.
      God bless.

@@FA-God-s-Words-Matter 1 Corinthians 11:4 Every man who prays or prophesies wearing something down over his head brings shame to his head, 5 but every woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame to her head - there is no difference between her and a woman who has had her head shaved. 6 For if a woman is not veiled, let her also have her hair cut short; but if it is shameful for a woman to wear her hair cut short or to have her head shaved, then let her be veiled.
This is the Jewish version... When Paul was speaking
I agree .. no apostolic decree but veil is definitely mentioned. From my understanding as of now, a veil covers or conceals 🙏🏽
If the hair is actually the covering, then there would be no mention of cutting her hair if the hair was not covered. 🙏🏽

We broke the ten commandments and Jesus paid the fine for us, saving us, so no good works can save us from hell but Gods grace on the cross. All religions do good works to save them but Christians only do good works because God saved, in love and obedience to Him, so its a beautfiul work Jesus done! 💕

From the Islamic perspective, covering is a sign of submission to the Lord! He orders, you obey! It's that simple! We can ask why? We can come with all kinds of reasons but the most important reason is the total submission for His will. Men have their dress code.

It was the same for Women in general around the world. Most every woman especially Christian women covered until feminism came into play around the 60's.
When women got away from covering (taking on the feminist perspective) they got away from it fast. The independent woman became popular and it's not a good thing (women need men, men need women) and the order God created is beautiful but the ways of the world have crept into the faith. People have gotten away from scripture and turned acts of obedience into legalism rather than understanding they are the ways of GOD! 🙏🏽

Not only women covered their hair before, but also the men because most of them used to work in farms and the hot water wasn't available, as it is today, to wash their hairs everyday, so that was due to their needs at that time and it became a tradition, but Bible never commends us to cover our hair except while we pray only.
