I never realized until recently that the giant pink guy at the gates is responsible for ghosts existing- in the ghost princess/Clarence episode they can't go to the afterlife until they remember their deaths. A lot of the skeletons outside might not remember their deaths either (or they know they're gonna be sent to a lower deadworld and don't want to). Although there are other times that ghosts come back just because they have regrets or because they want to interact with the living, so I guess you can also just choose to return as a ghost too.
All I can say about PB without spoiling much is that PB and Marceline are two sides of the same coin. It's like Marceline said in "Evicted", "I'm not mean I'm a thousand years old and I just lost track of my moral code." Except one decided to live a carefree life and another chose a life of responsibility.
To be fair to Bubblegum, she asks them to do things for her a lot but that's also kind of their job. Like they don't work directly for her but helping royalty is a large part of what they do, and PB is the princess that lives closest to them so they sometimes treat her like a defacto boss. Also she does usually return the favor if they come to her with some ridiculous science request or if they need to be bailed out of a bad situation. I don't know if you've already seen any episodes like that but she is generally willing to help if asked. Not going to pretend that she doesn't do messed up things some times. But most of those things happen later in the series. Right now we're just talking about her casually asking some friends to look after her plant while she's doing something. Which, to a normal person, would mean put it by a window and maybe water it once.

This was one of my favorites. Being introduced to how incredibly dark Peppermint Butler is. They only hinted at it with him having Finn and Jake get rid of a dead goblin for him in a previous episode.
Fun Trivias about on this episode: Princess Bubblegum's Science Conference takes place at Stanley's house, which is referred to as being in Veggie Village. There are 20 different police cars littering the underworld. When the Gate Guardian tells the "spear in the neck" skeleton that he may enter, the skeleton does a front handspring through the gate. Jake is shown to know a lot about Princess Bubblegum, as he knows she has a bird called "the Morrow", as well as how fast it is. This is the first appearance of Death. Episode connections: Finn says that he is not the musical type, but in "Prisoners of Love," he is seen playing the flute. In this episode, Finn chooses the sleigh bells instead. When Finn tells Death that he knows Peppermint Butler, the same music from the episode "Dungeon" plays in the background. The secret room scene was re-used from "The Enchiridion!" Stanley the watermelon makes a reappearance at Princess Bubblegum's Science Conference since his debut in "The Jiggler." In the end of this episode Peppermint Butler tells Finn and Jake that he wants their flesh as payment for helping them. This is the second time one of the candy people craves flesh, with the first being Starchie in the episode "Slumber Party Panic," where he says that he cannot help it and continues to chew on Finn's leg. Cultural references: When Peppermint Butler opens the portal into the underworld, this may a be reference to Frank Belknap Long's story The Hounds of Tindalos in which otherworldly evil beasts can manifest or be summoned via 90° angles and corners of rooms. When Jake drinks water from the river, he forgets who he is. This is a reference to the river Lethe in Greek mythology. While Jake receives the Kiss of Death, his leg is bent behind him in a way that was used by women in old cinema and TV kissing scenes. This act is meant to signify the woman's enjoyment of the kiss. When Finn reveals himself to Death, Death grumbles "Another one." This may be a reference to Orpheus, who similarly came to the Underworld to reclaim a dead soul. To get the soul and Jake's memories back, Death challenges Finn to a musical duel. This is probably a reference to the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Death maintains a Japanese rock garden, often called a Zen garden. Zen gardens are intended to imitate the intimate essence of nature, and to serve as an aid to meditation about the true meaning of life. Death gives Jake the "Kiss of Death", which is a sign given by a mafioso boss or capo that signifies that a member of the crime family has been marked for death, usually as a result of some perceived betrayal. Production notes: This episode was previously titled "Dead Flower." Errors: When Peppermint Butler is crossing his eyes, his bow tie is blue instead of red. When Jake asks Finn to hop in his pouch, one of Jake's arms is partially transparent. In the scene where Peppermint Butler opens the portal to the Land of the Dead, there is a lamp in the corner before he enters the room. It is missing when he walks to open the portal. While opening the portal to the Land of the Dead, Peppermint Butler is holding Finn and Jake's hands, but in the next shot he is standing behind them. When Finn says "No! I still have to rescue stuff," his mouth is not synced. When Finn and Jake lie near the slide-like path, Jake's tail cannot be seen for most of the time. While the Princess Plant is lying on the bed, it is about the size of the bed. However, when Jake covers it with the pillow, it is less than half the size of the bed. When Finn says "It's bone-kickin' time!", his right butt cheek is on his thigh.
I can’t help but feel like the popular fan perception of Princess Bubblegum and fandom knowledge of what she’s done ahead of time is influencing Nux’s takes. Nux is suspicious of PB because of the fandom, where many people who dislike PB or know about her past, are encouraging his takes. Nux constantly claiming PB is psycho, manipulative, or messed up every time she’s on-screen feels a little unfair because I think he’s constantly being prepped to see her in a bad light. PB isn't manipulating Finn to do anything for her, he's doing all that stuff himself because he has a CRUSH on her, so of course he sees her as this beautiful and perfect angel or the beautiful princess damsel that he can save as her knight. He's thirteen. Calling PB manipulative or psycho isn't fair because she's friends with Finn and doesn't want a romantic relationship with him, but Finn's feelings aren't going to magically go away and he has to learn boundaries with her later on as well as when to share his opinions instead of just blindly doing what she says. PB is way more complex than just the manipulative ruler who can be really messed up, there are genuine parts to her character, and I don’t like seeing constant hate takes on her when she has her good qualities. She truly does care about Finn, Jake, a certain other special character (spoilers), and her people, but what makes her interesting is that this genuine care doesn’t automatically mean she can’t be cruel. I hope he sticks with the series because PB gets more and more interesting the more attention the show gives her. Not just that you learn about just how messed up she can be, but also how wonderful she can become as well and I hope he's given enough space to take it all in for himself.

@@andrevanrooi3509 Working for the cosmic police doesn't make you a cosmic entities, those are far more primordial, eldritch and has cosmic ties/origin to the multiverse itself. Scarab is just a guy who work there, without his multit-tools bro gets shat on by basically everyone
10:48 I mean, on the morrow does mean tomorrow....in old times speak.
Been loving adventure time but wheres the harley quinn?! Was loving the reaction to my favorite modern animated show
No way love AT I cant wait till you get to season 3 episode 10... even though I'm sad you will have to cut out a lot of it due to music...and other episode with more Ice King. Can you get throw it all I wonder?
"Wait, you know Peppermint Butler?"
Just broke Nux. All the crazy this show puts out, it still catches people off guard with stuff like that.
Just an average trip to Hueco Mundo.
Definitely keep your eye on peppermint butler ;)
PB: Watch my plant
Nux: "OH MY GOD SHE SENT THEM TO HELL!"
Are we watching the same show? They could have just sat it on a window sill for a day. How was she supposed to now they'd depot it, shove pizza and soda in the flowers and burn it alive? Like, what is your chat feeding you my guy. She's a morally grey character, not an evil super computer. His chat is red pilling the fuck outta him
I love the fact that those skeletons arent flesh crazed because theyre skeletons and want the flesh on them but because they are just weirdos who like flesh (SPOILER FOR OBSIDIAN) because in later episodes when finn goes to the land of the dead he looks normal and doesnt see any skeletons because hes dead himself and can interact and feel things on his flesh
I love the Death in Bloom title card so much I have it as my lock screen! There's something so blissful about them being long dead, long forgotten skeletons and being so chill about it, hanging out, drinking tea and feelin fine.
One thing to note this isn’t hell per say. Everyone goes here good or bad so it’s more like a land of the dead
The fact that Jake lifted up his leg when he was being kissed by Death, though
Sisty
Bark and bark. It's a vacant urge
@@firepuppies4086 Heh
He also says he loves Billy and has a crush on him
I literally just watched that episode yesterday.
Peppermint Butler best character!!!

Bubblegum is NOT Makima. Cmon people.
SPOILER
YES she was, until she got back with Marcy
17:00 Nux, there is a tradition according to whom, if you can beat the Devil in a violin play competition, you can obtain the soul of one person you love back to live.
Is the cars a reference to "all cops go to hell"
I love how plants canonically have souls in this universe and everyone just glosses over it 😂
I mean, why wouldn't they?
dont fuck with peppermint butler end of story O_O
Have you realized how most of the people in the underworld are humans?
Also next ep when
18:00 🤌
