I can remember the first time I drove a Mack truck pulling a lowboy trailer. I was 16, and my dad was driving, and just made a delivery of a piece of heavy equipment. We rolled out of the yard, went a mile or so down the road and he pulled over. I said what are you doing, and he told me, you’re driving home. Keep in mind, I’ve never driven a semi! I got in, took off, and acted like I knew what I was doing for the hour drive home! Man I miss those days, and I miss my dad!
I'm proud of how they encourage him and they don't discourage him and they give him advice but they don't do it in an aggressive way they're raising up a young fine man to become a amazing truck driver down the road this is the way things should be done

This young man is a ROCK STAR! It reminds me of when I was 14 and I was running heavy equipment for my Dad. It was awesome. But back in my day thats what we all did at least my buddies and I did. We worked for the family construction business. Nobody cared we did it because we were taught the by our fathers how to run the equipment, fuel it up and do the maintenance on the equipment. My Dad had a gold rule. If the equipment runs out of fuel or breaks down during your day you fixed it. If you didn’t do your maintenance check every night before you went home you didn’t get to drive the equipment the next day. I was very great full for the time and love with respect that he taught me. SO KOO’DOO’s TO THIS YOUNG MANS FATHER. SON YOUR DAD IS A REAL “HERO” THIS IS LOVE AND TRUST.. IT DOSN’T GET BETTER THAN THAT!

That’s the way to bring kids up, teach them responsibility and have fun doing it. Last time I saw something like this I was on an Amish farm and a little 5 year old boy was backing a team of Belgians into the corn crib, driving them out and backing them up again. Over and over for the afternoon. His brother would stop by to give him pointers every now and then, but the little guy stayed right at it and didn’t miss a beat. Kudos to you dad, raising your son right!!!
This video is near and dear to my heart as I started working fur my dads excavation and logging company at 8 I drove one of the crew trucks and at 12 I was driving the 18 wheelers with heavy equipment from one site to the next (it was all Forrest service road so it was legal back then and even the highway weren’t to bad since the sheriff went to school with my dad lol much respect to these kids and their parents for raising them right. Very rare these days

thats right. I taught my oldest son to drive from the time he could hang onto the wheel and sit on my lap he took to driving later in life much quicker. I didnt do it as much with my youngest and they struggle a little.

I learned how to drive at 8 I started driving my dad around locally at 8, at 11 I was driving on the highway. learned early cuz he was and is a bad alcoholic and wrecked a few times drunk driving and got some DUIs so he figured it's better for me to drive.
Awesome job, I grew up, my dad was a diesel mechanic, he had me first in tractors then had me bringing trailers around for repair. We need more parents like this, take the time to show your children a skill that will always be available.

Got to start young. It’s the way I did it 65 years ago. I think it’s still working. I told my 3 year old grandson he better sit still while setting on my lap driving a farm truck because highway patrol doesn’t like to see two headed truck drivers. He took over the steering wheel that years harvest of corn silage hauling over 150 loads in. I’ll remember those days the rest of my life. He’s 15 now 6 foot 2 inches tall 200 pounds playing football. Not farming anymore lol.
My Dad was an owner operator in the '60s and '70s. Started with an old B model Mack. Then moved up to a brand new '72 R Model. Hauled Steel (when it was a thing) As he did as much of the maintenance as possible, he started taking me out at 11. By the time I was 14, I took it for a spin around the parking lot. Did fine, put it back exactly where it was. He never let on that he knew I did it. But 6 months later, I wound up in Military school! This post took me right back to that lot!
The kid did a great job, but I don't believe that it's legal for a 14 year old to drive a semi, even with a licensed driver on board. There's only a few states that allow a 14 year old to get a learner's permit, and Federal law says you must be 18 to get your Class A Commercial Drivers License. You can then operate only within your home state lines. At age 21, you can cross state lines while driving a semi.

I operated fork lifts at a lumberyard for many years. In the afternoon I had to load up all the trucks for the next morning and then drive them around the block to park them. Just doing that little bit of driving with those great big trucks was such a a blast!!! I loved it!!! Good times.
