I have been using the duster for the past five years now and it’s as good as when I bought it..... the ride quality is amazing ... your can drive for hours and hours non stop without feeling tired .... yes it lacks in features for sure but for that you simply can’t compromise on ride quality and comfort which the others lack .... if anyone wants to buy a car then one can surely go for it
Just like the classic jeep.. Duster is the similar icon of modern times.. That classic shape won't die down, and interiors are meant for an offroader,I repeat offroader, just functional and bare bones, not for shopping with wife and kids...thums up for duster.
Test drove it and I freaking love it (rxz manual 1.3) . Push the pedal to the metal and it pushes you back in your seat plus it sounds so good. Took it over some bad roads and potholes and you won't feel uncomfortable at all. Also the steering is not heavy at all unless you're coming from an electrical power assisted steering wheel. Duster's got a hydraulic steering wheel it gives you confidence on higher speeds so plus point. Sure the interior looks outdated which is noticeable when you sit in creta or seltos but this car is beyond those two.
1.5 NA engine MT has better response than turbo...I booked one recently as this beast is unmatched when it comes to cabin silence and suspension....better than kushaq and taigun
Still One of the car where 5 people can sit comfortably unlike Venue and Sonet... Really disappointed by Sonet backseat.. Cancelled my Sonet booking...
When Duster RXZ(manual of course. Nobody will buy cvt) is compared with same price Seltos or Creta, duster is definitely definitely a good package. Basically it comes down to the matter of how much money you want to spend and what trade off you are willing to make.
The best Reviewer on you tube who doesn't blabber like others talking much about features and looks , but on driveability and the real technical aspects related to the engine and performance, ride, steering feedback, suspension, cornering, road manners etc. Superb !
Suv mainly depends on the dynamics of the car, still it's width and length is more than creta and seltos. Duster can taken into any roads due to its approach angle(raised front bumper) and 205mm ground clearnce compared to creta and seltos. Duster had 4x4 model which has same dynamics .
Why are you comparing the CVT s with the Corean DCTs.......Do the performance comparisons with Manual transmissions..... Turbo petrol with stick-shift would be far better than CVTs...
@@zenjm6496 The price difference of the automatics being compared! Even the CVT's on Kia's and Hyundai's are more expensive for that matter. So this aint a proper comparison.
Major drawback of this car is touchscreen position, as it is placed downside, it's very difficult for driver to use it while driving. Secondly, instead of traditional hand rest, a glove box can be provided. Spare wheel can be placed inside car at boot area.
This manual turbo engine is a beauty test drove it handling and drive is fantastic, the interiors definitely needs a big refresh, if you are looking at the drive dynamics without the knick knacks then this is your car.
RENUKA its a great Review! But i was expecting the review of the Manual. I mean who reviews a Duster in CVT? CVT gearboxes are known for the rubberband effect. I just wanted your prespective on the clutch side of this so called Best in class engine power (156). 👍Otherwise loved the way you reivew❤️
Duster really need an update in terms of interiors.. who will use that steering column mounted controls! I remember Ford figo also had updates similar to this..
Naturally aspirated Engines are more maintenance friendy. Turbo charged engines need more maintenance as oil changes need to done professionally at the dealership.
blessindia1 the difference is not much in cost around 500-1000 bucks but you also get much better performance and better mileage in highways in turbo petrol
I own 1.3 Rxz Cvt & believe me, it is the fastest & smoothest ride one can get his hands on. In case, you’re looking for a package offering power on tap, road-presence, plush ride/handling with a topping of regular safety & comfort features, this is it. Sadly, with Renault pulling the plug out of Duster brand this month citing low sales, has given owners like me an opportunity to be a part of an elite club, who have had been lucky to enjoy an engine codeveloped with Merc(Daimler Chrysler) & doing duty in some of its range of products which cost north of 40 lacs INR.
I wanted a reliable car (with higher ground clearance) in Rs 15 lakhs budget. Duster was the call of the heart due to it’s performance of the 110PS engine in the past. But, the preference was on reliability. And duster killed the 110PS engine in the past with it’s fuel injector issues and higher cost of ownership in servicing. Then I opted for Ecosport Diesel (Titanium plus) with a heavy heart. These are the story of 2 and half years back. I always loved Duster and still I love. So, I watch it’s review every time it comes. I appeal Renault to upgrade this car as per the customer needs. Besides, a BS6 Diesel engine like the previous 110PS with reliable other mechanical parts could have been a strong plus point for Duster all the time.
I think the least they could do was atleast try and liven up the interiors. The main grouse of the Duster has always been the interiors. While i feel the exteriors with the last updated and this shade of blue still makes it look good, but I am wonder which blessed person sanctioned those brown fabric seats? That with the contrast patches on it looks straight out of 90s ambassador taxis. Add to that a shiny hard plastic dash and the 90s design, it really doesnt help. But if I was in the market for a turbo petrol SUV, I would still buy it. It may not be a hardcore off roader but it still has the SUV bits that the koreans cant match. Yes they have a fancy features, but to me the Duster, as rudimentary that it might be, appeals alot more to me. Only thing is I would choose the MT over the CVT. Hopefully we will get to see a MT review may be atleast as a comparo.
i had renault captur platine diesel model . i think same music system . its has really good audio quality . Now i had got used to music controles . i have driven creta diesel .its really very very easy car to drive . But capture its complicated . but ok. want's for city go for creta .
This is a great car. I bought duster CVT in 2018 and I still enjoy the drive. Renault introduced compact SUV segment in India with Duster. To rewrite the success story again, Renault should focus on upgrading the design and features. Compact SUV segment has become the most lucrative market for first time car buyers and there is already so many options available n this segment now.
You cannot expect a CVT to be as firebreathing as that of a DCT...Simple!! Moreover mam, you should highlight that the manual duster is a significantly more poweful on paper & as well as on road than its korean opponents.
Yes the duster is a very good practical SUV. It looks good, the performance is good even the handling is impressive , but the interior could have been updated. Even smaller compact SUVs like hyundai venue, kia sonet Gives better features and has very beautiful, modern looking interiors. So if renault gives a better looking interior to the duster just like its competition the hyundai creta and kia seltos then its will be a great.
While the review covers all points but I don't get why would you review the CVT vs the MT. A turbo petrol AT will never do justice. I'd love to compare the figures on the turbo MT to the Koreans in real world. Also the weight at slow speeds in the steering is why it's also more weighty and accurate on windy and moon like crater roads of our country. Anyways I did enjoy the snapshot review . Thank you
This car has so much potential.... Only if Renault could update duster a little... Especially from interior, it can easily compete with current lineup of Nexon, Creta, Seltos...
Duster is one of the top models in past ..But now so many suv's are sailing top the market .. Renault should upgrade the outer look and interior to bang the market again ..
I went to buy one and then I found these; 1. It has a black and silver dash and brown and blue seats. I wonder which Paris designer did Renault hire ! 2. It takes you a proper while to move your vision from the road to the infotainment screen and back. I think I need to make a stop to do anything I want to do on the screen. 3. The front row seats are from the 90s. Actually! 4. I found the clutch to be way too light. I thought it may be because of me being used to a Ford diesel clutch. So I asked the showroom to give me their best driver for a 0 - 100 sprint. Every time he changed gear, there still was a jerk. Your latest crush may not like it. 5. Then finally the showroom said ARAI mileage figures are 15 kmpl. That in reality means about 11 kmpl. I get 18 kmpl from my diesel Ford. I am just not used to this! 6. It did have a good ride. But let's not talk about the handling! Verdict - Buy it only if you are nostalgic about the 90s!
Based on info in this video, appears renault is selling the 1.5 ltr petrol as well. Will you / your team be able to compare the on road driving characteristics of the 1.3 turbo with that of 1.5?
renault, plzz make the duster costly but upgrade it plzz bring the nxt gen btw owning the duster 2013 performs amazing but missing some features for 13lacs

Honestly the way duster 1.3 turbo is advertised I thought it would indeed carry the fame of the old powerful duster. But I was very very disapointed with its performance after the test drive, in my opinion it does not match with the 110 dci engine leave apart the duster AWD which is all together a different class . Renault has done a total blunder by stopping the desiel engine in India. The 1.3 turbo which they are banking on needs more road testing and perhaps more fine tuning in the engine. It has got some turbo lag and possible seltos GT line would be more performing than this 1.3 turbo. Also it is lacking in performance compared to ecosport tdci based on the test drive experience of both the cars.

Yes all CVT from Renault Nissan are JATCO. There has been reliability issues especially with more than 150k km which lot of cars run in US compared to India. Most of the models for 2013-2017 I hope now they are reliable. Meanwhile I own Nissan Altima 2019 with same JATCO CVT 🙁
Duster's fate is that of Moto G. The first gen was so good that it blew people's mind off so much that it single handedly started a new segment war. But as time passed, both Motorola and Renault got so carried away with hype they didn't pay attention to actually updating them with time, thus losing market to new competitors with better features

Duster was such a good car but renault messed it up by not updating it and not launching next gen model. It is outdated as hell.
Yes I agree. No AWD also
They've launched in rest of the world but India...
If Renault had updated all features with maintaining the same SUV DNA ,its price would have been far away from Indian customer ..

"Hell" is never outdated, sir! The devil is watching you!
This car is screaming for a total upgrade
Car are not living beings...So Only they can't scream
My guess is as usual, the new model is more expensive, might come to india next year when/if they find ways to make it cheaper.
It makes me sad...how renault killed duster in India when it had so much potential
Because of our stupid tax system no company can survive but cheap and worst car makers

Also their service is very bad my duster spent more time in the centre than in my house for about 2years
Still One of the car where 5 people can sit comfortably unlike Venue and Sonet...

hahaha cancelled Sonet toy model?
Can you plz explain How is the backseat of sonet??

The duster is originally part of the Dacia brand in Europe, which is the barebones economical subsidiary brand of Renault

Even today in exterior design it's my personal fvrt !

Rubber band effect is very less in this new cvt
Heavy clutch is the sore point of Renault Duster
CVT rubberband will be only with less powerful engine eg Baleno CVT has rubberband because of 85hp
The selection of location itself shows the capability of Duster. Bdw they really need to work alot on interior quality
Duster really need an update in terms of interiors.. who will use that steering column mounted controls! I remember Ford figo also had updates similar to this..
Just look at the price Renault is offering the solid drive quality, handling ,the suspension setup which all are must for a SUV
1.3 turbo in duster without a.w.d is very disappointing....still waiting for it to come in 2021...what do you think..
Same here waiting for the AWD.
No 4wd/Awd now Suv
Awd demand on the internet , no buyers in reality. That's why most manufacturers stay away from providing awd apart from pure offroaders
Please include NCAP safety ratings along with videos....
it trails because you are driving a CVT and comparing with DCT, drive a manual and compare.

More than 60% of the sales of Duster was that of diesel engined ,I don't understand the logic behind discontinuing a best selling model
The Koreans can be called rivals rather than being called as cousins 😂
Korean cousins means creta and seltos
kia and hyundai are cousins

Why no one is reviewing Kicks CVT? It was launched earlier? Which one you would suggest between 2 why
The renault again come with a diesel engine... Most of people in that segment like to buy diesel car I think....

Does it have the infamous JATCO CVT? One that single handedly destroyed Nissan in US and European market

Thanks madam i really like your honest reviews, just curious why isn't anyone doing a review on Kicks CVT is out in the market earlier than Duster CVT
Duster is the only best and a premium car in Renault from the day it was launched. other cars from Renault like KWID, Triber are so and so.
Renault has been selling the Duster with this stale design in India for years.Time for them to bring the European Dacia facelift to India
Renault should have really plonked in a small turbo diesel as well. About 60% of SUV sales in India are still diesel-powered. 🤷🏻♂️
I want to buy it but interior changed my mind
Go buy it brother
Interior never stays same
The thing which matters is reliability and cost of maintenance

U r right bro...its disappointing....1.3 turbo without a.w.d...
Loved it ❤
@Autocar please come up with the issue regarding car companies giving fixed rear headrest.Cause its very unsafe for rear passengers.
Excellent narration and unbiased view expressed
When 3rd gen will come??
