Listen, you have no idea how much of an impact you've made on the decisions i've been making regarding my puchases in these past 2 years. Albeit this is my first comment, I just wanted you to know that the work you do is completely appreciated. More times than not, after I've conducted my own research, I've looked up the product I was considering and YOU already had a review on said product. Thank you for your passion and interest!
I absolutely love this tarp. I’ve used it a few times already. As a beach tarp it’s fantastic, though the stakes are not ideal in sand. I added the Danchell ones you mentioned here because of that. I used it in the rain as well and it was great! As far as reusing the storage bag, it still works for me, I figured out that you need to fold it in half the short way until it’s the size as the bag then simply roll up. Granted I need the help of one other person when windy.
A 12 X 12 One Tigris Bulwark Tarp would do me and my sweetie pie very nicely and Olive Drab doesn't scare us one bit. We prefer beefier tent pegs and use 360-pound test cordage. There are many ways to use a tarp other than shown. We'd use this tarp, and we like it as well would not hesitate to purchase one. Excellent Review!!!!!!
I've had this tarp for some time as well and agree 100% with your review. I switched out the lines with reflective 550 cord. I've used it in some some pretty good rain storms as a covering for hammock camping with my One Tigris Compound hammock. They're a great pair together. Hope all is well with you and your family Luke.
Great review. I appreciate how you've touched on important factors like frustration with the guylines and stuff sack. When I'm sticking things in my pack, I often discard the sack anyway. However with a tarp, sometimes a person may want one just to keep it from dripping on other gear. Unfortunately, I've decided to change out to lighter and better quality cordage 90 percent of the time. This is especially true when the products come from china or cheaper manufacturers. I ended up going with the Aquaquest, both for quality and some weight savings on their UL version. I ordered a few One Tigris products this past year. Some I like quite a bit, others not so much. I will say that my border collie absolutely loves her One Tigris camping bed for ground insulation and comfort. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for another very informative video. I've already set on an AcquaQuest Defender tarp: although it will be a little more weight, I won't have to check the wind speed before putting it up for an emergency shelter...also, their storage bag is easier to put the tarp, guy lines and pegs back inside. All the Best and happy camping!
I don't have this tarp but I have one with similar tie off points. I put a keyring into them to tie to, rather than trying to thread a cord through the loops.
i bought this one in june and received different guy lines with the tarp (black nylon) . Also still use the storage bag for the tarp itself without the tent stakes
I have been using the DD 3x3 tarp for the past few years and it has been through some heavy rain and zero issues .I have been looking to get a bigger tarp and although this tarp is good and the price is excellent for what you get, I have my eye on the aqua quest . The DD tarp has been good and being square it makes for awesome tarp tent configurations . Thanks for your honest reviews Luke! There is nobody on UA-cam that even comes close to how truthful and on point than you and it is much appreciated.p.s. the end music should be your signature ending to your reviews. Constellation is a beautiful song .
I have one these tarps. I like it and has worked well no problems there. I have found with gild lines well I found that most of guild lines that come stuff like this are not that good to start with. I use 550 cord and #36 blank line for just about everything for use of, so agree with guild lines being a mess.
Have thought of purchasing prior to the review, now most likely. Alot to do with your review Luke , but also the price. Have made my own gear. A tarp this size not easy and the materials would cost me similar. I have bought a few minor gear items from One Tigris and thought excellent quality for the price,so I'm confident enough to expand into tarps... important gear. PS will make my own stuff sack.
That's usually what I do. I just take two tarps and a military sleeping bag to camp. Obviously extra stuff for the trip in the bag but at far as shelter and sleep that's it.
Your review is bang on. I have one of these and agree with everything you said. The only redeeming feature of the guy lines in they do have a reflective strand in them. Makes them easy to see at night with your headlamp or flashlight. Other youtubers have been after Onetigris about the storage bag to no avail. They refuse to accept that it is uselessly small and just fix it. I'll be getting a stuff sack for mine.
I bought one based off your last video. I have yet to take it to the woods, but I did found the same issues you did, and I would like to see to see tie outs in the center of the sides as well. As a bonus, the useless bag can be repurposed to that end... As for the tiny tie outs, paracord or bankline will fix that. You might even figure 8 it through the other loops to spread the stress out. All in all, its a good tarp for the money. I kind of hope they make a smaller one in the future...
You can seal the holes on the corners using seam seal tape that you iron on, you can get it cheap on amazon usually in 20 yrd rolls for relatively cheap its mostly designed to work with PU coatings so this should work on this thing. I use a waxed paper to prevent the iron from touching the fabric directly and avoid issues, and set a regular iron to medium it works descently.
I left this on another video but you should check out the dutchware tarps, the new xenon bonded is really cool and the wide ones are huge. As a tarp fan I think you would love them, even have internal Ridgeline to hold internal poles in place to keep them open.
I bought this tarp during early summer and I got an OD green version too. I've had a DDtarp before and my OneTirgirs feels very cheap in comparison. I'm not sure if the OD green version is a knockoff sold by a third-party dealer or what but I wasn't all that impressed. My tarp also didn't come with paracord or adjusters. Just the tarp and that's it.
Looks pretty good! For a little bit more ($ 55), the 3F UL 210T Polyester/Silvered PU is a good quality alternative, does the same job but has better (in my view, perfect) loops and is slightly better sealed at the corners. I really wish these options had been around back in the day, good products.
Looks great for a budget friendly tarp. One Tigris, for the most part, does a good job providing affordable quality gear. It's also worth noting that they seem to listen to people when it comes to making improvements to their existing gear as needed.
They have changed the material of the lines that come with this tarp! Mine came with black cordage with reflective material woven into it and it does not have the problem like the tan cordage does.
Video: thanks for another outstanding product review! I’m not sure that you notice, but I’ve noticed for a few months that the videos seem to be quite flat. Like HDR is supposed to be on but not working properly or maybe some log grading. The camera looks fantastic and video quality is great but I have noticed a flatness that is noticeable. Just thought I would let you know but you may already. I love the low aperture number - bokeh looks smooth!
Thanks Luke! Interesting indeed. Just get rid of the stuff sack, replace the guy lines and youre good to go! Good size too. Budget friendly alternative.
One way to get around the small tie-off loops is to attach the smallest aluminum D-ring clips you can find. They would also be multi-functional. Yes, I would definitely change out the guy lines (either 550 cord or bank line). I would wrap them up individually to avoid the tangles. Overall? Not bad for the size and price.
Thank you for your review. Your content as always is awesome and the locations you film from are breathtakingI use a DD 3x3 tarp and I'm glad I spent that little bit more money because it has kept me dry. so many times. Many thanks, Paul.
I have enough Aqua Quest tarps of various sizes so I don't need another, but I may tell some of my friends who've asked about affordable tarps for occasional use. Instead of letting them borrow mine and not clean/dry them correctly before returning them.
Ordered one off of Amazon and it camr today. The description said coyote brown but what came is in fact the green one. So the rumors of there being a green version ia true. The color doesn't make a difference for me but if it does for you beware.
Can you check the Kalinco 10x15 tarp? its 1.25kg pack weight. I have the 10x12 in coffee and its only $34. Used it in pouring rain and worked amazingly well
Hey Luke, love your channel. I really would like to see a review of OneTigris' TC Tarps. supposedly they are more rugged? Let's us know, please. Thanks again.
Great review as always! Have you ever reviewed the German Bundeswehr elephant ground sheet? I feel like you may have mentioned it in a past video, but not 100% sure. Anyway, I have one that I’m adding grommets to that fit 10 poles from the LiteFighter Tent as well the improved combat shelter that uses same diameter poles so that it can be my floor to set up as hasty hooch. That way when not needed can leave tent body at home. Also the grommets will make possible tie off points that the German ground sheet lacks. Will look at some of your past videos maybe I can find the product review. Thanks again good to see you doing well.
Please do a Show were you only use Homemade Gear from everyday Items, like a Homemade Tent, Sleeping Bag, Cookset, etc........A lot of Folks are on a Low Budget and Homemade Equipment may be all they have and need some help on bettering their Gear using Budget bought items.
@@KaiMirra actually that isn't true. I have made a tent from old blankets & bed sheets. Made a sleeping bag from old comforters. Used an iron skillet for cooking & heating water on a campfire. Used a regular blue tarp over the tent. I did all of that when i was about 13. I am 55 now. If i had to i could do it all again. I grew up poor. We didn't have the $$ to buy camping equipment.

@@OldNavajoTricks you are absolutely correct! Can't tell you how many times i made a hammock & put it a good 25-30 feet up in the trees. I was just a kid & loved every minute of it. Cooked soup right in the can & cooked fish in it for my dinner. I was a crazy kid & loved everything about being outside!
2024 update: I used this tarp with the 1p OneTigris bug tent for an overnight camp. The tarp was waterproof for about 3 hours of steady rain. Set up and packing is super easy. Only con is drying the tarp in an apartment is a challenge lol. Definitely worth the money.
Can someone (you) do a video explaining the difference between nylon, silnylon, polyester, and other common materials and what all the number mumbo jumbo means for us folks? Keep up the great vids!
Does anyone know if you can set this up in a TP style or with a single tent pole so one end is staked to the ground? Looking for a back/overhead configuration to use with my poncho-tent & groundsheet. Seems like there would be enough guylines to do this, even if it's overall height is lower, just wanted to make sure though.

Love the content, wish the skin tones were less green. I Like the color at 5:06, but the haze & washed out look of the rest of the video is a bit too much.
I am thinking if this is polyester then ripstop nylon of the same size would be just as durable but half the weight. I was expecting these to be bomb proof for that weight.
I have this tarp. His review is accurate. It's a quality piece of gear for the price, and unless you're in a blizzard, hurricane, or tornado, it's going to do what you need it to do. We've all spent $50 in dumber ways.. Cheers my friends
Thanks for the review Luke. I’ve been undecided between the AquaQuest and the One Tigris tarps. After watching your review I’m going with AquaQuest. One question though. Which one, Safari or Guide series?
Just wondering, will the storage bag work as a stuff sack for the tarp? I prefer to stuff my tarps instead of taking the chance of wear marks from continually folding them up.
Why do companies not just make storage bags just that big bigger. Surely an extra couple of inches won’t make that much difference too the price?????😊❤
Maybe OneTigris could use better fabric in the body if they didn't try to also sell the pegs, the cordage, and the stuff sack. I don't need to pay for stuff that I can't use.

And again, I have zero need for a tarp like this, yet here I am watching Luke review one in great detail. Lol Best gear reviewer, hands down! 🤙🏼
