Thank you ! Saw this a couple of years ago and thought it one of the cutest and funniest of films with a load of commentary on the social dissonant culture... have enjoyed it again this morn. .will surely watch again in future. .
Thank you - I’ve never seen this one. I love the remake with Monty Woolley and Gracie Fields. I’m a very big fan of Roland Young, so really looking forward to this.
I worked for a Wealthy, Elderly Woman,in an Assisted Living Housing establishment, for Wealthy Elderly persons. I had delivered her meals to her Suite, as requested & stayed a shirt while as i helped her get settled.I saw several photos, of a personal nature of 2 women & some young girls. Some with horses, some at riding events.I recognized, Lillian Gish, in several photos. The Lady explained she & Lillian had been very old & dear friends & Miss Gish would come to this Ladies, daughters riding events etc..... I felt honored that she shared that with me.
This was the source for the 1968 Broadway musical DARLING OF THE DAY. Jule Styne was the composer, E.Y. "Yip" Harburg the lyricist, and Nunnally Johnson the uncredited librettist. It starred Vincent Price and Patricia Routledge, who shared the Tony Award that season for Best Actress in a Musical. The show, which ran only a month, was recorded, and the score is a real delight.
So now the goddamn establishment is taking over UA-cam now too? Goddamn commercials being shoved down my throat Jesus Christ there’s no escaping fucking commercial I can’t stand it. FYI FREEDOM OF SPEECH Delightful Lillian Gish, she and Young had great chemistry together. Fun movie tho there was quite a few silly and irritating scenes.
So she winds up losing her house (very rare feat back then) and she's just supposed to be okay about it...hard pass on this segment of female treatment in the past!!!
My first time hearing Lillian Gish's voice!
Delightful on every level.
