    Inspired by the incredible ingenuity and effort Mike Patey put into building the full-sized aircraft, E-flite® delivered the first officially licensed scale replica of his ultimate bush plane - the amazing DRACO 2.0m. Since its release, many pilots have dreamt of and asked for a scaled-down version that’s more affordable, convenient, and easier to fly in more places and smaller spaces! The E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm is precisely that and is slightly larger than UMX (Ultra Micro eXtreme) and other ultra-micro class models to better replicate the complex design while also including as many scale details as possible. It’s still small and light enough to fly in large yards, small parks, sports fields, and beyond - yet also features many surface details including molded-in rivets, panel lines, and control surface corrugation, plus antennas, steps, wingtip “stinger” skids, and more. Functional features include LED navigation, landing and simulated strobe lights, flaps, and a steerable tailwheel. Oversized, tundra-style tires on the sprung wire main gear with simulated KING shocks soak up bumps and provide excellent prop clearance while also making it possible to take off from and land on paved, dirt, gravel, and even the grass surfaces found at many parks and sports fields.
    The high-power brushless outrunner motor can drive the scale 4-blade propeller with a 3S 300mAh battery for smooth and scale-like flight and even to perform basic aerobatics. Or you can use a 4S 300mAh battery without any modifications or upgrades for better-than-scale vertical performance and more aggressive aerobatic flying! The factory-installed Spektrum receiver and ESC deliver real-time telemetry data, including overall battery voltage, current, motor RPM, and more, to compatible AirWare™ equipped transmitters. Plus, the receiver is also equipped with exclusive and expertly-tuned AS3X® so it feels like you’re flying a larger model - even in some wind - along with optional-use SAFE® Select technology that makes it easier to fly successfully after you’ve mastered flying at least one or two previous RC aircraft! Best of all, Micro DRACO arrives factory-finished with a premium, fully-painted plus decal trim scheme and mostly factory-assembled with a separate one-piece wing that can be installed or removed quickly and easily with a single screw. It all adds up to offer an authentic - yet more affordable and convenient - DRACO flying experience, including unmatched STOL (Short Take Off and Landing), scale, and beyond flight performance!
    Micro DRACO is a Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) Basic aircraft that includes a Spektrum receiver equipped with industry-leading DSMX/DSM2 technology so intermediate to experienced RC pilots can use their own compatible transmitter, battery, and charger. An ULTIMATE Combo including the BNF Basic airplane, a Spektrum transmitter, Smart charger, adapter, and battery - plus a copy of the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC Flight Simulator - is also available that includes everything needed to fly and saves you more than $70 compared to purchasing all of the items separately!
    Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? If you are, we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m (www.horizonhobby.cc/CarbonCubS2RTF). Based on the Carbon Cub Mike’s wife, Chandra Patey, used to fly, it’s equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes nearly everything needed to fly (except for a compatible LiPo battery and charger that are sold separately or together in a money-saving Powerstage bundle) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.

      For those who might not see this response to some of the related comments here: There is no industry standard when it comes to how terms like ultra micro, micro, mini, etc. are applied to various models. This model is larger, has more features AND more performance than UMX models....which is why we call it "Micro" and not "Ultra Micro". We believe micro models are larger than ultra micro models, yet should still be under the 250 gram weight limit set by the FAA and other organizations (which this one is). And "mini" models are larger/heavier than that: Ultra Micro < Micro < Mini
      Also, this model is fully factory assembled...the wing installs in seconds with one screw to make the box smaller (which reduces the amount of material used/potential waste, shipping costs, and to make it even easier to store/transport). We've done the same (made the wing removable) with the recently released UMX Conscendo (ua-cam.com/video/9Pj_XjNpODo/v-deo.htmlsi=345cxZ4gtXQjM9qh ), and will do that with more ultra micro and micro models in the future. But they will still be fully factory assembled otherwise!

    Can anyone help with regards to if I can operate this with the Spektrum DX6e? I'd rather not have to spend the extra money for an NX6 if I dont need to.
    I'm just getting into planes and am wanting to get a Conscendo 1.5m glider and this 800mm Draco and hopefully a DX6e will happily fly them both.
    Any advice would be gratefully received 👍

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 місяці тому

      The NX6 has a 7th channel that can be very useful for more complex models that have flaps plus retracts and the option for SAFE Select as well as thrust reversing. The DX6e will work great for the Conscendo Evolution 1.5m and the Micro DRACO 800mm so you don't "need" the NX6 to fly them, but you may come up short on channels for larger and/or more complex models in the future...especially if you plan to use SAFE Select. The NX6 has a nicer feeling case with rubber grips, a rechargeable battery, WiFi for easier firmware updates, a USB port so you can connect it to a computer to use it with RealFlight, and other features over the DX6e that make it more expensive but also a better option for many people because they won't outgrow it (a lot of people outgrow the DX6e and end up having to spend more by buying an NX6 or NX8 after).

    Can i use a Spektrum 4S 450mah Battery? Will it handle it? Or not?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  4 місяці тому

      This model was designed for and tested with 4S 300mAh batteries that weigh around 45 grams (and 3S 300mAh batteries that weigh even less). 4S 450mAh batteries weigh almost twice as much at around 85g. That's a huge weight increase (~20%) on a model that weighs ~200 grams without the battery. The 4S 450mAh batteries will likely work, but it will probably be nose heavy and the flight performance will not be as good when using them. Also, when using 4S 300mAh batteries, the total weight is just under the 250 gram limit set by the FAA and other organizations...if you use 4S 450mAh batteries you will technically need to install a Remote ID unless you are flying in a FRIA. That's why most people prefer to buy and use the recommended 4S 300mAh batteries that cost less than $20 each: www.horizonhobby.com/product/4s-14.8v-300mah-30c-lipo-battery/SPMX3004SJ30.html

      The UMX Timber X is more aerobatic overall, including the ability to perform some 3D aerobatics. Micro DRACO is also capable of performing aerobatics, as seen in this and other videos, but it's overall capabilities/flight envelope are more similar to the UMX Turbo Timber Evolution. Which is why the best solution is to buy both :)

      Although it's relatively easy to fly, especially due to the optional-use SAFE technology, we don't consider the Micro DRACO to be a good "trainer" for first-time/beginner RC pilots. We do offer an "ULTIMATE Combo" ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/micro-draco-800mm-bnf-basic-ultimate-combo/EFL13550UC.html ) that includes everything needed to fly it, plus a copy of RealFlight Trainer Edition to help, but we still don't recommend learning to fly with that (though some people will likely try...and even succeed!). This is what we say officially regarding the skill level for Micro DRACO:
      Skill Level 2 - Some Experience Required
      Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots with some experience and the skills to assemble and/or set up and fly similar class models. Although this is the easiest to fly DRACO model yet, it's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or a “next step after a trainer” model for low-time RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly higher performance ultra-micro models like the various UMX Timber models or larger models like the Slow Ultra Stick 1.2m, Valiant 1.3m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Micro DRACO.
      Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? If you are, Micro DRACO is not a suitable first-ever RC model, and we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m. Based on the Carbon Cub Mike's wife, Chandra Patey, used to fly, it's equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes nearly everything needed to fly (except for a compatible LiPo battery and charger that are sold separately or together in a money-saving Powerstage bundle) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.

    Just ordered mine I would love the big one but at over £550-650 I would never be able to justify that money well unless I won the lotto 😂

      It's slightly larger, has more features AND more performance than UMX models....which is why it's called "Micro" and not "Ultra Micro"! And for added reference from another one of our comments/responses here:
      There is no industry standard when it comes to how terms like ultra micro, micro, mini, etc. are applied to various models.
We've done the same (made the wing removeable) with the recently released UMX Conscendo (ua-cam.com/video/9Pj_XjNpODo/v-deo.htmlsi=345cxZ4gtXQjM9qh ), and will do that with more ultra micro and micro models in the future....but they will still be fully factory assembled otherwise.

    You guys stole my idea! 😊 I really did post, probably along with a thousand others, that HH should come out with a smaller and more affordable DRACO. I'm excited to see all the reviews that will be out on YT today.

      We actually had the idea for this "Micro" version before we even started on the larger 2.0m model ;) Additional videos will be published starting the last week of this month (the week of 2/26/2024), but in the meantime, if you haven't seen it already this video shows Mike seeing -- and even flying -- Micro DRACO for the first time (along with more flying on both 3S and 4S batteries): ua-cam.com/video/LEhk5vj8IY4/v-deo.htmlsi=GRLquMEKYnhe94E5
