    Great advice! I have the same tool and it works great. I would recommend to also mark the position of the 1 mtp joint line and measure the ditsance the cleats are behind it, this makes it easy to find the correct position when changing shoes also. Steve Hogg has a great article detailing how to this.

    1 - My toes have to be a bit outwards, if else there will be a strain on the knee tendons, which can easily lead to knee pains that linger for weeks/months. (So: be very careful adjusting the angle) 2 - find your natural foot position by sitting on a table with the inside of your knees fully against the edge, then dangle your feet: you will find if your feet want to stay more straight or at an angle. 3 - changing the fore/aft position is more forgiving but with pressure/pain on the front of your knee, move the cleats backwards so your bottom leg is more straight downwards when pushing down

    Hi Victor, I'm not sure if anyone touched on your point about power in squats. Squat position is very dependent on how the femur inserts into the hip socket. This insertion dominates foot position, but most often it is indeed with toes slightly out! Great video regardless!!

    what is the effect of the cleat position on the muscle groups used in the legs? In my experience this is a big factor in cleat positioning - e.g. more forward will cause the heels to come up more because of the natural movement, and so more stress on the calves especially when the pedal is moving upwards. But so far the best video on setting up cleats I've ever seen!

    • @zwamman
      @zwamman 4 роки тому

      It's very difficult to predict what your ankle will do when changing elements of the bike fit. That's one of the reasons they do dynamic measurements. I think in general a more forward cleat will "feel" like your saddle is slightly lower and your cranks are somewhat shorter but your calf muscles will need to do more stabilizing work when you're putting down power.

    7:04 "my right foot, the heel is just slightly a bit more out"
    - do you place the cleats the same? (this way the right heel goes a bit out because being possible by the float of the cleat)
    - or do you place the right cleat slightly a bit more out?
    thank you! great video! ;-)

      It’s a good idea to have some float either side of your natural foot angle, so I’d adjust the right one to suit the position as opposed to allowing this movement with float alone

    Another good video Victor. But why force your feet to be straight? I pedal slightly heels in/toe out as that’s how my feet naturally hang and what feels most natural. Arch support does make me less toe-out though. Cheers

    • @vocsnor
      @vocsnor  4 роки тому +2

      I would not suget to force your feet, I just would sugest. If your feel look realy funny. You should do some specific work on it. It will not change over time. But my feet are now already a lot straighter as at the start of my carreer. This only happend my specific exercices. Watch this vid!: instagram.com/p/wyWFWxyXJY/?igshid=128idwqpjfhht

    Als de plaatjes meer in het midden van je schoen zouden zitten, zou je dan niet lager zijn en dus meer gestroomlijnd?
    Zoals Egan Bernal momenteel aan het proberen is, wat deze video analyseert: ua-cam.com/video/cicLFf9981o/v-deo.html
    If the cleats would be more in the middle of the shoe, wouldn't that make you sit lower and thus be more aero?
    As how Egan Bernal is trying at the moment, which this video is analysingua-cam.com/video/cicLFf9981o/v-deo.html

  • @gweflj
    @gweflj 4 роки тому +1

    I don’t think a totally straight/inline shoe is gives correct ergonomics. We’re designed to walk and run, not pedal a bike. If you look at a running motion the foot goes through a fairly large angle change and there is a predominant ankle in/pronation bias. There may not be a power difference but for knee health, ankle in should be more natural.
