    Hi,
    The explanation is pretty straightforward. I have a question though. Where I live (Brazil) it's a little difficult to find these modules and when you find them, they charge you an arm and a leg for them. In my layout I have 2 reverse loops. One of them is a big loop (12' to +/- 14') and the other a fairly short one (5' to +/- 6.5'). Because of the way the layout is set up, they are fairly close to each other, although in different sections of the layout. I am wondering if it is possible for me to use one MRC module and jump it to both return loops? I'm pretty sure I would not be able to run two trains on these reverse loops at the same time, but do you think it will work for one train?
    I appreciate any feedback you or any of the other subscribers can give me.

    Good explanation of the ways to get a reversing circuit to work in DCC.
    I have 4 reversing loops on my layout and prefer the DCC Specialties PSX-AR. Yes they are more expensive because they use microcircuits to perform the task that is performed by electro-mechanical relays such as those in the AR1. They work flawlessly with engine consists (which is why I gave up on the AR1 that I started with) and do have a version that can switch a turnout (with either stall or snap machines).

    probable a silly question. does the polarity switch on the revers loop while the train is on it or the rest of the layout excluding the loop itself. Im from the old dc days. if you have another train running on the same track is it affected.

    Hi Mike. Right after I sent you the last message to you about the reverse loop, I kind of figured that the only way it's going to work ...is what it's called REVERSE back to the same track it left.
    I kinda thought that would be the case especially since I watched your video again and again...and a light bulb went off. So if you get a chance if you're not busy let me know what you think.
    I really appreciate your input. Mark

    Hey Mike. Great video, you keep it real simple. Question: Must you be careful NOT to have wires from the main line bus WITHIN the reverse loop, i.e., is all the power for the loop provided ONLY by the AR1? Thanks.Dale

    Hi Mike, I've watch your other DCC cabling videos about isolating the turnouts between the different lines. I have a yard where through a series of switches it can be considered a reverse loop sine a train can exit in the opposite direction. My thought was if I isolate the turnouts and track into the section and provide power separately off the bus in that section it shouldn't matter or require an AR module. Am I wrong? I haven't laid out my track or used DCC yet, I'm still planning but may change the layout because I don't think I want the AR modules. Maybe I shouldn't care, I don't know.... Thanks, Tom

    I'm glad I found this, Mike! When I'm finally able to get back to work on the Layout, I will be constructing the first reverse loops I've ever done. 😨
    I have 2 MRC AR units, with a loop at each end. I too am struggling with how to automatically throw the turnout - and you know my story by now, there's NO way I'm going to be able to afford a PSX-AR, even if it IS the best solution.
    Have you learned anything since you made this video?? Thanks!

      I looked into that Mike. That's just a block detector - which I definitely will also need....
      The BD20 can trigger snap switches, like Kato and Atlas, but will not work for Tortoise.
      I just got off the NCE website. What I'm going to need is the Switch-It Mk2. That gives train detection from both routes into the turnout, automatically aligns the Tortoise switch machine, and even triggers signal LEDs from red to green on both legs!
      NCE has an MSRP of $29.95......
      I can't do that. Do you stock them?
      Thanks, Carmine 🚂

    Hi Mike, I have a rather complex situation. I am building a layout with a peninsula. The peninsula is a reverse loop. However, I have tracks coming into the loop from both directions. One goes into the loop from one side and the other from the other side. On one side, the loop is larger. The second entrance from the other side is a smaller loop, but shares a large part of the larger loop. I don't know how to wire in the AR-1. Or if I need two AR-1s, one for each part of the loop. Will they conflict with each other? I also don't know where to place the track insulators. Wish I could provide a diagram which would help you visualize my situation. Thanks. Dale

    Mike, I have 2 AR1s on a large double deck layout.
    When the train goes into them, there is a severe voltage drop.
    The only power for these loops is coming from the AR1.
    Does this sound like I require a booster in the reversing loops? I assume that is my issue because if I tap into close by supplied bus power not AR1 isolated of course I get a short.

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale 2 роки тому

      @@N-Scale ok Mike don’t know what we’d do without your guidance. The smaller of the two loops I found how it was shorting and now it works flawlessly using the AR1. It is a very small loop. I made some changes on the bottom giant reversing loop but I think it’s too big for an AR1. Do you show on your videos anywhere about how all the bus lines come into your dcc box? Are you using a power district splitting device? Are you using a booster?

    Hello Mike, how are you? A great video as always. I am working on my loop, it is powered and everything is fine when I test, however, when the locomotive enters the isolated zone, it does not advance. I am using a kato n4. Maybe it is the default configuration because the device manual tells me that I should not use turnouts with an energized core? What is the proper position of the bypass? All the screws to the outside or to the inside? Thank you very much.

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale 2 роки тому

      It depends on the age of the turnout. Some of the early one were marked backwards. I think they are saying that it needs to be selective routing on the turnout. ( power to those rails only when turnout is thrown.)
