I want to explain to my new counselor that I need this. The counselors I've tried seeing have expressed that validation is something they shouldn't have to give because I should just "self-validate". I think this is very hurtful (especially since I was emotionally neglected growing up) and quite frankly unrealistic and non-sensical. What you've explained here is way more therapeutic. What do I do? I'm close to giving up on trying to get help.
