- Prince Rama Varma, accompanied by Sri S.R.Vinu, Dr.G.Babu and Perukavu Sri P.L.Sudheer, comes up with a soulful rendition of the Muthuswamy Dikshitar masterpiece in Dwijavanthi on Goddess Akhilandeshwari of Thiruvanaikaval Temple in Trichy.
This event is at Udiyanoor Devi Kshetram in Trivandrum. I recognize it because it is just a five minutes walk from my house. Sadly I discovered the Prince recently, otherwise I would have surely attended.
Serenity,divinity,sanity and humility personified prince that is Ramji Sir synonymous of melody.
All I can say is that he is divine incarnate on earth - a learned connoisseur of music, who has mastered it with his heart and soul in it. Add to this his unparalleled humility makes him preserve music through his enthralling teaching sessions for generations ahead - a contribution that his royal ancestors did in many exquisite ways. May Lord Padmanabha bless him in this lifetimes and all lifetimes ahead. My salutations to the Master 🙏

Story :- The one key story which appears in the song is that of "lambOdara
guruguha pUjitE" which talks about Goddess Akilandeswari being worshipped
by Ganapathy and Guruguha - who is Subramanya. This pertains to the Goddess
being in a state of anger - which was dissipated by Adi Sankara who took all
that anger in the form of tadanga (ear rings) and put it on the ears of the
Goddess and also put the idols of Ganapathy and Muruga in front of the Goddess
so that she sees her sons all the time and hence becomes pacified.
In this kruti Dikshitar describes Mother
Sridevi as the Goddess of the universe worshipped by Guru Guha and Ganesa. He
adds that she is the bestower of knowledge and that she is the supreme
protector.

Dwijavanthi is the janyam of 28th melakartha
"Harikambhoji" The actual name for this raga according to the
sangeeta makaranda, Ramamatya and other scholars is Dwijayavanti (raga of the
twice-born). Dwijavanthi is not a purely Carnatic raga; it has been imported
from Hindustani strain where it is known by the name of Jayjayawanthi In the
north (Hindustani Classical) it changed to Jayajayavanti, whilst in the south
the raga nomenclature changed to Dwijavanti. The name "Jujavanti" can
easily be taken as a non-grammatical name of Dwijavanti.

His two famous compositions: ‘Akhilaandeshwari Rakshamaam’
and ‘Chethashri Baalakrishnam’
are two gems in Dwijavanti. To this day, these two songs stand as references
for this raaga.

Prince RamaVarma personally enjoys singing , and the music flows like a beautiful stream , and there is Divinity. As mentioned by Rajam Ramamurthi, the Divinity can be noticed from the old lady who enjoys the music right from the S beginning.
