Gotta say, ... your videos are very entertaining, but so informative. You outline which control you are using, then show what it does. In a really neat way. Exactly what we need to know about these pedals before purchasing. And concisely. Well done.
Dave Lanciani its honesty the best channel on you tube. I am subscribed to 7 channels, but this is the only one that I watch every upload and get excited for.
Agreed! This is my favorite pedal review channels. Everything is so well laid out and edited, plus the variety of unique pedals is awesome. So much better than the same old blues riffs through 69 different overdrive pedals
Noir Spectre More than a few to be honest. The true oscillator of this pedal has nothing to do with the classic sub-octave square sounds a la Blue Box, OC-2 or Multiplexer. Other are more obvious, like the rainbow machine, which is nothing new as an effect if anything the format and specific controls and range selection make it kinda special. Nothing you couldn’t do with a Lexicon or Eventide rack unit 30 years ago.
@Noir Spectre Ehhh little bit of an oversimplification I think. First off, pretty much all pedals are rehashes of older pedals on some level, and most manufacturers are copying old stuff more blatantly than EQD. There's normally some creative new twist with what they do. I think Earthquaker pedals are sometimes more fun than practical, but if you're making your own music then even that's not really true. They're not marketing their stuff to dads playing Mustang Sally for the 1010th time.
@Club Soda The pedals not terrible, It's a synth pedal, it's very difficult to use with the way it's set up, it's equivalent to learning how to play guitar again. I've talked to people about this pedal, it's apparently extremely hard to come up with something good on it, but it is actually possible
This is the gold standard format for pedal demos. Also, you really took time to get into specifics while providing background details; which really makes it approachable for peasants like myself who learned everything on the same 4 modeling amp settings.
This is the best video for this pedal out there. I planned on getting one just for the chaotic aspect of it, but to know that it can actually be used musically is wonderful! Also, that sequencer stuff is
I don't normally gush, but your video review/walkthroughs are the bees knees, man. It's at the point were if I see that you've made a new one I just buy the gear and watch the video after I get it to see if I'm missing something. I am, and you point it out, and I continue on with my good brooding in a more enlightened fashion. Good show old boy.
This is the one i need. Was looking at this, MXR layers, EQD bit commander, and Montreal assembly Prpll, and i think this is the one i need to record my new stuff this fall. I have so many EQD, chase bliss, boss, walrus and MXR pedals, but even Avalanche Run v2 and disaster transport Sr. Can’t make these noises. So awesome
I just got one of these. I’ll admit that it took some experiementing with it before understanding how it works, but now that I’ve got it figured out, I’m thinking of all sorts of fun ways to use it.
Weird compliment here man, but I love how you communicate. I've noticed in all of your videos, a very aesthetic, witty and funny form of english. Is it possible to learn this power?
Like the Bit Commander, it’s a monophonic synth, meaning only one note is being tracked. Whichever note is picked up by the synth is what it references for tracking, and I believe the oscillator is the way you control it. On MOST polyphonic synths, for years, they required you to have an external tracking pickup for your guitar that was made by Roland and was an additional $200 you need for proper polyphonic tracking. Just in recent years, there are poly synth pedals that have built in tracking now, but your options are limited to a few pedals made by Boss, EHX, and Meris. The Boss SY1 is what you might want to start out with, but if you’re liking the sound of Bit Commander and Data Corrupter, chances are you’ll only find that kind of glitchy sound in a mono synth. Hope this helps!
Thanks for an amazing pedal review. The jury is still out for me. It's a bit of a one-trick pony and I can get some pretty goofy sounds out of my H9, though nothing this insane and broken, and the H9 cannot reproduce a PLL. What bothered me most about this pedal was the constant dive bomb every time I stopped playing, and that was a big reason I sought out (and found) videos such as yours to see if this could be adjusted. I will give the pedal another try. As others have said, those of us who play synth do have a gazillion options open to us on there and I've wondered if tweaking with my synth would make this pedal unnecessary, and do I want a separate pedal just to make a particular kind of sound? I wish it took an expression pedal so I could adjust some parameters while playing. It would also be nice to be able to save presets. I got a very nice sound out of it (if you call any of it's sounds "nice") at one point but couldn't reproduce it later as I kept messing with knobs. In retrospect, I should have taken a picture of my settings. I really love that "breaking up" sound when playing stops.
i could... but don't have space on my board. i can't imagine throwing a clean blend on this pedal in first place would've been too difficult? plus would make the pedal a whole lot more usable
potatopotatopotato I think they intentionally left it off as a style choice. PLL pedals are kind of a no brakes sort of affaire. I bought one for bass and I can say in all the different ways I use it I don't need a clean blend. It's not like a traditional fuzz. I think you would enjoy using it by playing an octave up and dialing in the sub-harmonic to compensate your low end.
Great job Knobs! I've been watching as many Data Corrupter videos as I can, and I was sad to see so many people turn down the pedal by not understanding what it is. Not to mention the number of terrible demos released onto UA-cam. Because of it's complexity it's going to be very easy for people to make this pedal look bad. Which is funny because it's just so gooood.
This pedal reminds me of Jimi Hendrix and how incredible he was with pedals. Some of these not all were achieved by Hendrix with what he had. The data corrupter does things for u really. But i think its a fantastic pedal for older guys who dont have the energy they once had to fuck around getting sounds on a guitar. this does it for you if u want. its also a very nice sounding fuzz. a lot of fuzz pedals i checked out dont sound like a big ass fat assault of fuzz like this. i like it very much and think it can be super useful. some think it cant be useful but i doubt that. i dont think you have to make dive bombs and Mario sounds on it.
Knobs: you're a pest! I was thinking of selling mine. Now I've watched this I've got to rush home sooner than expected, stick it on my board quick, and see at tonights band practice if I can use this on a solo at our gig Friday. 😝
im looking for really crazy pedal to use on synths. i like the way this affects the signal, though the result is kind of rough and over disttortioned. but i am still considering it. any other suggestions for about this price range?' great vid man. congrats.
This pedal will prove indispensable in our eventual war against the robots. My advice is to order one now before it's too late.
that's what we keep sayin'
DOWN WITH THE ROBOTS, UP WITH DATA (CORRUPTION)!
EQD = Quality, Inspiration and Made in the USA Kick-Ass Attitude. Your shop rocks.
thanks for the kind words!
Plot twist: Small label inside reads "designed at Skynet Laboratories"
I'm really glad Earthquaker learned their lesson with the Rainbow Machine and had you review this pedal as soon as it came out.
They're even just fun to listen to! The avalanche run demo is one of my favorites. So dreamy...
Agreed! This is my favorite pedal review channels. Everything is so well laid out and edited, plus the variety of unique pedals is awesome. So much better than the same old blues riffs through 69 different overdrive pedals
Earthquaker is unstoppable. Every pedal is a banger
Noir Spectre More than a few to be honest. The true oscillator of this pedal has nothing to do with the classic sub-octave square sounds a la Blue Box, OC-2 or Multiplexer.

@Club Soda Its subjective. It might sound odd by itself but it could sound awesome in the right context.
@Club Soda The pedals not terrible, It's a synth pedal, it's very difficult to use with the way it's set up, it's equivalent to learning how to play guitar again. I've talked to people about this pedal, it's apparently extremely hard to come up with something good on it, but it is actually possible
Most of the time I just let these videos be the background music while I do other stuff. But this pedal..........
The Yousician ad should have more of this applied to it.
This video was by far the best I've seen for this crazy ass pedal. Earthquaker alone is going to inspire so many new bands
Buzz The guitarist from the melvins uses this pedal
I do t always roll one before a pedal vid...but when I do, It's knobs.
Vibrato with the knob at the center position at 4:26 sounds like Yoko Ono
It's true. I fell in love with that setting and my band broke up.
Gonna be honest, not as good as scream song by yoko ono
these videos awaken a childlike spirit in me that is incredibly satisfying
This is the gold standard format for pedal demos. Also, you really took time to get into specifics while providing background details; which really makes it approachable for peasants like myself who learned everything on the same 4 modeling amp settings.
This demo gives me hope. Thank you.
The demo I have been waiting for!
This is the best video for this pedal out there. I planned on getting one just for the chaotic aspect of it, but to know that it can actually be used musically is wonderful!
Also, that sequencer stuff is
perfect name choice for this amazing pedal

Cool, now I can finally nail the holy grail of guitar tones: "Space Harrier on the Atari ST"
5:13 ... Was that Welcome To The Black Parade???
I wish you could see my cats face.
Me too
Will play this for my dog ASAP.
What a wild playful pedal. Will get one one of these days
this video helps a lot. it's a confusing, yet addicting pedal.
Love the videos! It's great to hear you using input sources other than guitar! Keep up the good work!
jesus christ this thing is gnarly. this would sound awesome with the digital oscillator on the microkorg.
I just got one of these. I’ll admit that it took some experiementing with it before understanding how it works, but now that I’ve got it figured out, I’m thinking of all sorts of fun ways to use it.
At first I was worried this would be a Death By Audio ripoff but this thing is its own beast. Fantastic!
oo0O0 what pedal would it be ripping off? The robot?
Thank you, Knobs. Everything is good here.
It needs to be available in euro rack module, with inputs for control voltages.
Would the Doepfer A-196 work?
I would love to hear what this pedal could do to a vocoder...
Dru Jeffries that actually gives me chills thinking about it
It reminds me a live King Crimson perfomance
Perfect pedel for my juggalo band
The only perfect pedal for your "jugaloo" band would be one with only one function: "off".
ICP 2: electric jugaloo
TheCannedWalrus Oh, how cute it is, just learned to talk!
Alright, Ken M
whoop whoop **sprays Faygo**
In a time of so much corruption...
This pedal is so much fun.
1:29 that sounded so epic! I'm amazed how you would be able to write with a pedal like this.
just swooped it. thank u zzounds
I watch these muted to unpleasure myself.
I saw some other videos popping up for this pedal recently, and my only thought was "Hooray, this probably means another Knobs video is on the way!"
About 4 yrs after having originally purchased this, and 3.5 after having sold it, here I am, probably gonna buy another one 😅
Weird compliment here man, but I love how you communicate. I've noticed in all of your videos, a very aesthetic, witty and funny form of english. Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from a Jedi
The layman's way is to read lots of Wikipedia
That's not a weird compliment.
Agreed
100% spot on comment
Learn how to us the word aesthetic wtf
I don't know how I'd use it... But I want it
How would you ever know if it was broken?
Beautiful
“Grrreaat... Scccotttt....” - Doc Brown
"Man. This is heavy"
I was wondering when you'd get around to this pedal...
This is something I absolutely have to have
Just a fantastic demo of an unusual pedal. I think combining this with the Chase Bliss Habit pedal would break the Earth.
Embrace the weird.
two seconds in, thumbs up. This shit's dirty! love it!
This channel should have a hell of a lot more subs! Keep up the amazing work 👍 👍
Put this through Avalanche Run or Afterneath.
Another splendid presentation
I'm torn between this and the Keeley synth 1.
This is the perfect Knobs pedal
Flashbacks of 8 bit games🔊😊👻🤖
Playing the Legend of Zelda theme would be fun using this pedal.
track well on bass ? amazing job btw, keep it on !
Works wonderfully on bass. The tracking is obviously glitchy at times, as expected, but it works just as well on bass as it does guitar.
This pedal is brilliant!
so my question is: does it track chords? or is it like the bit commander where it only tracks single notes?
Like the Bit Commander, it’s a monophonic synth, meaning only one note is being tracked. Whichever note is picked up by the synth is what it references for tracking, and I believe the oscillator is the way you control it.

Did Jack White just copy this for one of his TMR pedals? Sounds a lot like it.
Great vid! Got one on the way !

Been waiting for this one

I really love that "breaking up" sound when playing stops.
wish this had a clean blend so i ACTUALLY could use it on bass
You can always use a blender pedal or a boss ls-2
i could... but don't have space on my board. i can't imagine throwing a clean blend on this pedal in first place would've been too difficult? plus would make the pedal a whole lot more usable
I think a LS-2 is great to blend anything in, and always some dry air out.
potatopotatopotato I think they intentionally left it off as a style choice. PLL pedals are kind of a no brakes sort of affaire. Ya I agree with you. Any kind of petal should have the blend now days. It just makes them so much more versatile.
Yo soy disperso... Esto es mi alimento...
i'm ordering this thing in a few days yay
Moog from hell
Wicked
This thing sounds awesome!
As far as “noiseboxes” go this one is actually pretty good for what it’s capable of
i was waiting for this :D !!!
Great job Knobs! I've been watching as many Data Corrupter videos as I can, and I was sad to see so many people turn down the pedal by not understanding what it is.

check ThePedalZone take on this pedal. So far the best I have seen. He really makes this thing actually sing and unlock some great melodic uses for it
Devin Anderson That's a good thing! Ups the chances of you scoring one second hand.
I can't decide if I want this or the Boss SY1
If only Tron had a metal band.
Great vid another pedal I want to buy
This pedal reminds me of Jimi Hendrix and how incredible he was with pedals. Some of these not all were achieved by Hendrix with what he had. The data corrupter does things for u really. Only thing I wish this little beauty had - A CV input function. ;)
the donut is a lie
The cake is a nightmare.
It's a donut cake!
Knobs: you're a pest! I was thinking of selling mine. Now I've watched this I've got to rush home sooner than expected, stick it on my board quick, and see at tonights band practice if I can use this on a solo at our gig Friday. 😝
Yup- knobs makes me GAS another one once again......
I have one of these next to a Mantic flex. Dear God, what have I done? What have I done?!!
i wonder what will happen when chained to a rainbow machine or a transmisser
What a fucking awesome pedal. Wow. If you see this, thank you Robb from Sweetwater! ☻
Someone needs to hook this up to a theremin
So fire
This obnoxious heinous thing makes no sence.I MUST OBTAIN & POSSESS ONE... .. .
But how would it sound for bass I wonder...
Check out the pedals and effects vid
Can anyone compare this to the Moogerfooger Freqbox?
IS 1:29 INSPIRED BY ALARMIST?
Pls help me , I can not get a decent sound out of this pedal ever. I am using with bass.
Some of it sounds a lot like something straight out of NIN's Year Zero album.
Exactly, I’m going to buy this cause I produce industrial Electro Body Music
1:52 Defender, when thrusting and firing.
im looking for really crazy pedal to use on synths. i like the way this affects the signal, though the result is kind of rough and over disttortioned. but i am still considering it. any other suggestions for about this price range?' great vid man. congrats.
Hello. I run my synth through the Way Huge Atreides Analog Weirding Module pedal. it sounds wonderfully terrible.
im in love
Wow,...just wow.
Ah, love it
Excelente sus cualidades 😍
a data set of medians and fuzzy nuptials.
i need this!!! OMFG
Kinda like a new take on Schumann's PLL.
Exactly my thought. PLL for the "masses".
i love futura too :)
Anyone know the approximate settings to get those sounds at 2:15?
The transition screen tones were all of my favourites too. Lmfao
