I really like your videos. In fact, they inspired my wife and I to get a sleeper car from Chicago to Frisco, loved it. Keep up the travels, you've got a fan here in Detroit.
You guys definitely giving me courage to start traveling all I do is work and no travel time .. is fascinating to see the West Coast how beautiful it looks on the train . I just love your music selection , This is definitely my time to venture off in travel on the Amtrak , I’m glad to know the food looks and probably tastes delicious ..Thank you for all of your travel videos. Safe travels❤
Love your videos! Please consider doing one about Rail Pass - how it works, how to get the most out of it, and the drawbacks. Thanks for taking all of us along on your travels!
I love your videos. One of the things I love the most is the peaceful, melodic music. It just makes the whole experience calming, and restful. I will chime in about the very first tune you played. It sounded like someone had a very gassy, upset tummy. Maybe don't use that one again. 😊 Ihave seen you talk about theBurrito Lady several times. Does the Burrito Lady have a name? Let's give her some credit. Ask next time, please.
I enjoy all your Amtrak videos. My late father worked for Pennsylvania Railroad that was absorbed into Amtrak so watching your travels brings back great memories of when we got free passes for train travel and we went everywhere from up and down the east coast and Canada as well as Chicago. Keep up the great videos! ❤️
One of the most charming aspects of your channel is that you are always appreciative, despite any monotony in the scenery or the food. If it were me, I might grow weary of similar meals, similar scenery, similar starting points or end points of the journey. In fact, I might begin fasting and meditating, even dreaming of trips to the Moon.
I will be doing this in April, only going the opposite direction. NYC to DC, DC to New Orleans (you could do NYC to New Orleans on one train but I haven't been back to DC in decades), New Orleans to LA, LA to Settle, Seattle to Chicago, Chicago to NY. But I will be doing it in coach on a rail pass.
@@Mimilikesstuff it will be a great time. I also looped the southwest chief and California Zephyr in sleepers with connecting trains last year. That's a must! Between them I will see most of the states. Then next year I'll do the New England states and the following year 2026 maybe Florida.
I took Amtrak from San Antonio, TX to Austin, TX (and back in one day). I had the breakfast sandwich on the outbound and the cheeseburger on the inbound. Both were tasty.
I am so happy to have found your video! I would love to travel across Canada by train..the US could do better offering more train travel. I live in North Central MN, and we are a train city, but only freight trains, so I think we can catch a passenger train in the Twin Cities...it was sad to see all of the garbage along the tracks in NY
I love watching the views too, but on these long trips of multiple days it can also be nice to have some audio books downloaded to listen to (with earbuds!) once in a while, while watching the view go by. I see some passengers watching movies and missing the views! There's no internet connection a lot of the way, so best to have any reading/ watching/ listening already downloaded.
Maybe I missed it, but have you two posted a cost breakdown for the trains? We have done plenty of trains in Europe, but never one in the US. Just trying to get ideas on whether they are cost prohibitive for us.😊
Just found you guys and I'm Lovin' it. Thank You ~ I would really like to know the month/year that your video is being taped. Just cuz I'm nosy lol ~ Also, because We almost never travel but IF we did it would be great to know the best time of year to do it for whereever we end up going to . Bless you Both
How well do the two of you sleep on the train, esp. on these long journeys? Do you bring anything to make things more comfortable, or is it a nonissue for you? I struggled.
Have watched your train travel for some time now. Hubby and I want to do what I call "the loop", we live in Central OR, want to do Chemult to Emeryville, then the CA Zephyr to Chicago, 3 nights there then the Empire builder to Seattle, then Seattle to Chemult. QUESTION, hotel within walking distance in Emeryville and Chicago?? In Chicago one with laundry would be great. Hoping to do this trip in early December, been saving for a couple years now. Any other advice would be awesome!!!!
Do you have to go get your food and bring it back to your room? How do you book a trip like this, station to station or destination? Love it we're planning a trip this summer. Did you have to get hotels along the way to accommodate the train schedules (lay-overs until next train)?
No the sleeping attendant will order the food you want and bring it back to your rom if you do not want to eat in the dinning room. Yes you pay for hotels or whereever you what to stay at the end of each trip and also give at least 1 extra day for changing trains.
I'm a little confused because I watch your other channels which say that you're in Southeast Asia and this says you're in Seattle I'm wondering how you're making all of these these videos at the same time?
I wouldn't be able to do these types of trips if I couldn't get healthier options for food. I wonder if you can get salads, fresh fruit, and protein with vegetables as options.
At 1:23:37 you talk about dropping cars in Spokane. Has it ever happened where you’re set up in a sleeper car and they decide your car is getting dropped, so you have to change rooms before you get to your destination?
They have an Ada room on the 1rst floor and can sleeping car attendent will bring you all the meals to your room, the only thing you will not have a shower subcritical shower is not ada accessible on this train but you can either deal without it or do a sponge bath with the sink in your room. Coach you will have lots of room but open, no meals or showers are included.
My friend and I are doing the Empire Builder, Coast Starlight and California Zephyr in May. She has never done a long train trip before and as things are falling into place she is so excited that she says she wants to do another one…lol Thinking Southwest Chief to LA then the Sunset Limited back to New Orleans….what is the route that would get us back north to Chicago?
Hey, I have a question. We are traveling from Florida on the Silver Meteor to New York in a roomette and should get in around 11:30am. Can we go to the lounge and eat lunch before we head out to sightsee and go to our hotel? We will be getting on the Cardinal the next morning to Chicago. Thanks for great video and as always, great info!
are the showers hot on Amtrak trains or is it hit-or-miss a lot of times? have you noticed any difference in water temperature between viewliner 1 and 2's etc?
Question-with Amtrak’s notoriety of being late, how do you plan the various trains and making the deadline to board from one train to another? Trying to plan a multi train trip and not sure how to plan for this. Love your videos btw❤️
Count on any given train being late and forget about making a tight connection. It won’t happen. If you’re ok with that you’ll enjoy the journey and know you’ll get to your destination eventually. That’s train travel until more money is allocated to improvements.
@@sallyjane5943 Except twice when I took the Sunset Limited westbound into LA it came an hour EARLY so instead of arriving at 5:30am it came at 4:30am! which was even before the Metropolitan lounge (the fancy first class lounge) opened, plus they woke me in coach an hour BEFORE arrival! Only a few hours sleep that night. When it happened again the second time (45 min early that time) I now wonder if that's common for that line. Other long-distance Amtrak routes I have taken have more commonly been late into the last station, so yes if you really want to be certain of making a connection it's safest to give yourself a layover day in the hub station.
I made the mistake of using Amtrak Vacations to book a round trip vacation to Seattle from Arizona. We had a death in the family so had to cancel the trip. We only received a 50% voucher and still had to pay 5700.00 for the trip. We did not buy Travel Insurance. We rescheduled but because we scheduled in I guess 'travel season' we had to pay an extra 1000.00. I called Amtrak who said there was nothing they could do for us since we booked through Amtrak Vacations.
Hi , we will be on the silver Meteor in april. We just got our tickets and we are in room 2 roomette. Could you please tell me if that is upstairs or downstairs. Thank you
I think they take the trip and then break down the video into segments so you might see the start of this video as the same beginning of another video. Plus they don’t answer questions so that’s not much of a help. 😮
Only fir sleepers, you can either use body wipes or carefully do a sponge bath with the sink in the coach bathroom, or if you have money has pass through Chicago you can get a day pass for the metropolitan lounge which have showers.
May unsubscribe because you make a concerted effort to avoid two of the real beauties of rail travel. One is experiencing meeting new people in the dining car where you will meet people from all walks of life and the world. The second is eating a well prepared meal served couteously while you converse with those you have just met. Decent presentation of the equipment though, for those who don't want to be around people. Have made many trips with Amtrak and will do more so i can enjoy the mechanical as well as the personal joys of riding the rails.
@@TheWestlandgirl it's not necessary to video them as there have been several sites who video scenery during various movements in the dining car us they showed the meal layout. Hope this clears it up for you. All the best.

I love your videos - can you discuss in one of your videos how to keep up with fitness on the train. The food and sitting around can derail fitness.
Just what I needed tonight! Watching the view and that soothing voice and music! Thank you! 😊

Part of the Pacific coast track was recently washed out. They're talking redoing the whole thing farther up and not so close to the ocean. We'll see.
The weather got gloomy when you go to see the western water. What the round carrot balls they look like coloured pickled baby onions.

Why do you not include any train trips from Atlanta up to Virginia? You always seem to skip that area.
Generally how much on average would this cost for the whole trip?
Also add costs for trip meal drinks available tha ks
If you have a stateroom there are no charges for meals, it's included. Food in the stateroom should require a tip for the service.
