Architects - Gone With The Wind (Cover by Gerard Vachon)

- I've been postponing this video for a long time now. Shortly before Tom Searle's death, my father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is an extremely aggressive type of bone cancer. It's taken a very large toll on him to the point where he has strongly debated discontinuing treatment. This song spoke to me even before that diagnosis and after learning about the songs meaning, it hit even harder. I was going to film the guitar and bass part of the cover as well, but after blowing my voice out doing the vocals and just being emotionally worn out I decided to keep it simple.
I've removed the intro of this video as after a lot of therapy I realized that my father was not a good person. He was my narcissistic abuser who gaslit me into thinking his abuse was ok. Though this song still means a lot to me, it's not for the same reasons it once was.

(To elaborate since I've had some issues with this in the past, these are not the official Architects stems that were released through URM Academy and Nail the Mix. These are stems of this particular cover, as I am a URM student (and do some stuff behind the scenes there) I would never jeopardize the relationship I have with them and that they have with artists and labels. If you would like the official stems (which are much better than what I've provided) go sign up for Nail the Mix over at urm.academy! )

Phenomenal.
Lauren Babic that means a lot. Thanks!
MORE FEATS PLZ
He hears you even now brother, stay positive and breathe deep. Always Celebrate the life and hold onto what matters most, family and memories. I got your back.
Damn dude, Carters vocals are hard to do, but you pulled it off. Great job!
Ed Hance thanks, man! I'm glad you did it. They're very hard! I blew my voice out doing this song!
@@GerardVachon But can you give the lesson video?
one of the best vocalists i've ever heard. I hope you keep making music my dude. All the respect in the world for you.
Just amazing dude, I'm speechless.
Werner Erkelens you dareal bae
Gerard Vachon man, cover is nice but if i'm right you do extreme vocal on your vocal chords. You should not to do it. Try to learn safety extreme vocal on false chords. The difference is big. And it's not hurt your vocal chords.
Sry for my english) i hope you understand
This was incredible, man. After listening to your cover of Mikasa with Lauren, I had to check you out.
It will be 1 year on June 24th when I lost my stepfather, one of the greatest men I've ever known, to Pancreatic cancer. It hit him hard and it was inspirational to see the support pull together to keep things positive for him. It was a humbling experience, among all the bullshit news we would receive, to see my family pull together to buy juicers, and a sauna, and massages, or whatever it took to keep him happy and comfortable to save his energy to fight the cancer.
Unfortunately after a short 7 week battle he came out with too little energy to fight any longer. It puts a whole new meaning to thinking of someone every single day -- and I truly hope that your dad pulls through so that you never have to experience those things at your age, or at his. Through those times though, dude, I heard of so many amazing stories of people pushing through to reach the impossible and as long as your dad is here, he can definitely, 100% without a doubt be on the telling side of one of those stories. I hope I get to hear it on your videos one day ;)
Keep strong, brother. Keep doing what you're doing. And fight the good fight with your father! :)
All the best, man.
Nate
PnkDrmmrNathan that's extremely profound. I'm sorry about your step father. Thanks for sharing your story. Cancer affects everyone in one way or another. I'm glad you enjoyed both covers. And thanks for the wishes. Best wishes to you too!
Oh yes, your yell is so very emotional, big up for italy❤️
AWESOMEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no words... Incredible
Usually I don't like covers, but this is really good
Ursoc I'm glad you like it!
Amazing.
I posted a comment here some months ago but I don't find it back so I'm a making a new one.
I'd told you that I could feel the emotion and pain in your voice because my father suffered as well from an illness (an esophagus cancer).
I feel it even more now. He passed away 2 weeks ago after 4 long years of fighting. Since then I had several thoughts for you but I couldn't go back to this video or even listen to an Architects song, that was too painful. That's now done, losing someone you love is such an horrible thing even more in that context.
May he rest in peace alongside your father, and I thank you another time for this cover.
Keep doing your great job, I'm sure he is proud of you where he is.
Gr8 cover man!
My dad passed of multiple schlorosis, it was like having a child and watching him wither away. I feel your pain brother. Great cover of such a heartbreaking song.
Wow! Amazing job!
On point!
Death is not defeat 🖤
Your amazing.
Absolutely amazing, you should be proud of yourself!
holy shit dude you have an insane vocal range. From Mikasa to Hate to this great cover. Keep it up and stay strong, you have my support from the netherlands
Byron Heebink thanks, man! I really appreciate it
I blew up my voice last Saturday when I've finally seen them live for the first time in my country. It felt like a guilty pleasure to keep screaming all the words even though my voice was hurting.. Much love and appreciation for what you're doing, brother! :) Can't wait to hear more from you!
Im sorry to hear about your father. While She Sleeps - Our Courage, Our Cancer. That's how I deal with it
Duuuuudddeee.....What The Unholy Hell... idk what to say.. this is ART.
Incredible I know I'm late but sorry for your dad.
Awesome job on this. Sam Carter’s vocals are incredibly difficult to do. This is one of the best tries at that style that I’ve heard.
Very kind of you to say, man! I sadly can’t do these anymore for some reason. It’s like there’s a mental block for me with that technique these days
I wish I had a band, i'd come calling for you...you're a beast!! wow...I feel your connection to that song well done mate!
so awesome voice!!
i'm a bit late, but genuinely didn't realize you were screaming along for a good 5 seconds. phenomenal cover.
This is just breathtaking. Congratulations man.
Beautiful. Love the emotion in your voice. 😍
Absolutely brilliant! You were spot on, man.
I felt the passion in every lyric. This is truly amazing
You can hear the amount of emotion in your voice and see it in your voice....I'm in love with this cover and I started tearing up from this and I'm sorry about your father man.....stay strong and stay metal 🖤🤘. You should also try hereafter, I would love to hear that!
Denver Jones this means a lot, man. I’m actually doing a cover of doomsday since my father ended up passing away recently that I hope will heal some wounds and be a great form of expression for me and I hope it honors him well
Hopefully it honors him well!
@@GerardVachon I'm so sorry for your loss my man...I can relate with your situation on a deep level, music is a huge help in my life and I'm def sure he would appreciate all this.
I love watching your videos, truly amazing and this is my one my fave architecfs song. im sorry about your dad sir.
I have no words.....simply amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻
You are the best. There is nothing else to say.
Christian Turcotte you must have me confused. You're clearly the best for saying that
Extremely good cover! Really nice voice for both the screaming and the cleans. I will listen again for sure. Also, really sorry about your father..
Wow! Incredible Gerard!
Just... WOOOOW... Amazing cover!!!
Vitor Santos thank you so much!

I feel the emotion brother! such a beautiful cover done well. cheers from Texas
JOSATAN vox covers vocal covers I'm glad you dig it! And I'm glad the emotion came through. I blew out my voice putting my all into this
Gerard Vachon bro it's a strong cover. probably the best in my opinion.
Legendary / legendario
This is my first comment ever in youtube, and I’ve gotta say that this cover made me so feel so emotional. I can hear all the pain and emotion through your voice and thats what music is about. Transferring the feelings through the song. Simply amazing.
Jötteri that means so much, man. A month ago today my father lost his battle to cancer; and I'm getting a bunch of musicians I've worked with in the past that my father liked to do a full cover of doomsday. If you thought there was pain in this performance, I'm pouring every ounce of myself into this next one in his honor.
I am very sorry for your loss friend. I can understand the pain that you're going through. I lost my father when I was at age of 11. I'm sure your father is in a better place now as my father is. Keep on doing what you do and never give up on it. My deepest condolences and wishing well of you and your family in this time of loss.
Man this is so powerful. Apreciate the work!
Sensational!
Oh god, no words, amazing!
Fede Nehuen I appreciate it! It means a lot!
this is sick!
Man so good! Thank you for your story.
Great cover, love it!!
There is a reason I follow and subscribe, its because you have such heart in doing what we all love to hear and see. It gives me good vibes and strength seeing the emotion and vulnerability in the beginning. We are human after all!!...Don't stop, ever. Fantastic job sir.
jacob rhoads thanks, man. That means the world to me
powerful emotion…. a big thx for that !!!
Fucking nailed those melodic screams, holy shit.
wow!!! AMAZING!!!!
Amazing dude
Gerard,
This cover was awesome man. I’m so sorry about your loss. It’s a really good thing to channel that energy you have into something positive like music. This is what I do as well and some days it’s all you need to keep you going. I feel a connection to this song as well similarly to you. Thanks for sharing your story man and I hope all is well. Lookin good, soundin good, you killed it bro. Take care.
Thank you.
Man it's phenomenal. Congrats. The projection of your screams is pretty awesome.

Such an amazing cover ❤
Loved it!!
Can you please make a tutorial on yell screams.
It will be very helpful.
DemisoidIndia honestly, I just yelled and blew out my voice lol. I'm the last guy that should give advice on that style, I'm still trying to figure it out myself. Sorry!
Gerard Vachon That is really genuine of you man!
Much respect.

MsSilithius will do!
DUDE YOU'RE AWESOME, sorry to hear about your dad
Man speachless!!!! How can you do this insane vocal 😱
alex boisselle honestly, this style of vocal blows my voice out. I'm getting better at not doing that but it's been a lot of trial and error
Ok thanks you for the tip 🙂
Amazing! keep it up man, cheers from Korea 😊
My mum just recovered from cancer and my grandad her farther just died of cancer. The shit sucks man people like you help me through much love!
wow that was emotional.. sorry for your loss.. this song have some much power
Dariø GR thanks, man. As a disclaimer, my father hasn't passed away at this point. But the cancer is certainly taking a toll on him. Some days he can barely move. But this song has a very strong message and puts things in perspective for those who were in a similar situation to Tom Searle's.
Amazing Gerard. Keep on buddy.
christopher duke I'm glad you like it, dude!
Great job, keep it up 👍
Man, I just discovered this video.
My dad was recently diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma, and this song resonates with me so deeply. Your cover is outstanding. Stay strong, you're amazing.
Michael Lynch, I'm so sorry. Stay strong and make sure you're there for him. I hope he gets better. Fuck cancer.
Great song great cover buddy... ur absolutely nailing it.
How are u feeling by now
Sorry I’m a late to this cover.I heard the Veil Of Maya cover years ago.I really love y’alls rendition of that Song.I come across it on occasion & watch it when I do.Which after a few yrs has finally led me here.Bc I’m an idiot & never thought to follow the talent to see what else you 2 have done. Now Remedied.
Again Sorry this is late,But Congrats on creating another great Cover Sir!I loved it & definitely felt the raw emotion!Which I give you Monster props for opening yourself up.I know what you were & most likely still Are feeling Bc I spent my entire teen years dealing w/ it. My baby sister & then my grandfather.Anyway,I couldn’t open myself up like that back then & still probably couldn’t now. I hide behind a Guitar while destroying my neck/body for others amusement : ) Truly it’s bc I feel different when I strap a guitar on & that makes me go apeshit on stage. So all this rambling is me saying,I’m sorry & I know that from a total stranger that really doesn’t help.bc as far as I have figured it brutha Only time does & I am truly sorry.
My best wishes & if you have some musical projects to dive into(not to hide) But to occupy & channel. Go full tilt boogie bc I tried the wrong way at 1st. So I dove head 1st into creative endeavors & It worked for me better than I could have hoped & I got to tour, meet cool ,odd, strange ppl & Play w/ bands I never thought I would.Embrace the grind Sir.
This is incredible dude!
Yash Sharma thanks! I really appreciate it!
Holy shit man! This is amazing! 😮👌🙌🙌🙌

Mathieu Forget I'm so sorry to hear about your father. Your story really touches me and I wish the best for you and your family. At this point treatment isn't making things better, but we're trying a new one and keeping our fingers crossed. My heart goes out to you.
Gerard Vachon with all my hearth, thank you. I wish to you and your family the best of luck in these hard moments. Keep up the good work man.
