I'm a fan of winging it... but I certainly appreciate the planning process now.

I noticed you put your tension system (a line grip and hangover) into your tension side bag. I was curious if that is all you use to tension you highlines. I have been using a double pulley/multiplier system for longlining and waterlining. Do you shy away from this kind of system because of the weight? I'm more curious how you achieve proper tension using just a hangover. Thanks Ryan!

Sorry I haven't had time to do a tension system video but it is actually quite common now to only use a linegrip and hangover for highlines 100 meters and under. It pretty much gives us the right tension as a full tension system can easily be overtightened. I'm guessing I put on about 1-2kn on a line with that setup. And I do love the weight of it. I'm posting our Rigging Example #4 on half dome today, check it out. There is a 1 second clip of me tensioning like this at 0:29. And if you never have tried walking loose lines... try it!

Our buying guide trilogy starts here ua-cam.com/video/V43waXlR3_g/v-deo.html and a webbing chart is found at the top of www.slackademics.com/coursecurriculum/guestspeakers. And in my most recent Inov Split episodes, I recommend you don't buy anything longer than 50 meters.
