Never heard of "Kotare". Guess not available in the USA. And glad to hear that WingNut Wings are still around!

I am sure that anyone who buys and builds this kit will be as impressed with it as I was. Kotare have done an outstanding job.
I am grateful for your mentioning my channel on your piece- in particular about the undercarriage oleo leg fitting. My video on this can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/AqdlDJhCUXs/v-deo.htmlsi=67bnC68Qrw6n4QGx and as you will recall, I went with legs on at an earlier stage for fear of breaking delicate internal components.
The instructions mention removing some material in order to ease fitting and this may very well be the best way, but I found that the oleos were very solid if fitted slightly earlier.
You really should build this one- I am certain that you will quickly run out of superlatives for it!

Another great review. To use a good Scot’s word, I have been ‘slevering’ over the Kotare Spitfire for months and am sorely tempted. Just bought the Meng Fokker DR1 1:32 so will have to drool over this spitfire a while yet. Keep up the good work and all the best to Jess.

Great Review Nigel. I pre-ordered mine and the pre-order bonus (like the 1a (Mid) which I also pre-ordered, and had it Hand Delivered as I live in Auckland!) was a set of exhausts (the Early ones) in resin. This kit arrived in the mail and only 2 days after official release)
I'm currently building the 1st release from Kotare right now, just finished sealing up the fuselage. I've enjoyed it so much I just ordered the Brian Lane special edition.
I drilled out all the lightning holes in the frames and it was easy with one exception. That X shaped piece that's between the two rear frames that the harness attaches to with bungees. I mangled it. Snaped one arm while drilling, and the holes are all wonky. If you intend to drill it, be really careful.
I also added all the control wires with lead wire, and it looks cool, until you put the cockpit tub in the fuselage, and realize you'll never see them. Maybe a little peek at the rudder ones if you squint at just the right angle. The rest are pretty pointless. Definitely a, "I know it's there" situation
All in all though it's been a great kit so far. All the positive reviews others have given it are spot on. I really look forward to Kotare's future releases especially the 109's

Hi Nigel, One more great review of a magnificent kit👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I looked at their website to see what else they have, well, that's it so far, there is also a resin figure that cost the same as the kit🤨
The price of the kit is quite reasonable for the quality. If I build another Spitfire (...), I'll probably get this one, stunning!
I looked also at Border Models website, they have a beautiful bf 109g-6 1/35 (perhaps you reviewed it) but the Stuka is not there anymore (?), luckily I have one.
I wonder if Wingnuts have the Lancaster instructions somewhere? As I know they had instructions for their Handley Page 0/400 as I have seen them. The 0/400 and Lanc looked at about the same stage for release when they closed.
Wonderful review of what looks like an outstanding kit; potentially another winner in your reviews for 2024, lol. Since Kotare and WnW like to fill voids in our world, maybe one day they'll check into a 1/32 Hellcat and an FJ-3.
Oh yeah, why oh why don't we have a decent 1/32 Hellcat??
This one's a must, I recommended a fabric wing Hurricane as a future release.
Servo tab is correct, Nigel. It may be a trim tab as well if it's adjustable.

Hi Nigel brilliant review as always, this is now definately on my wish list after watching yours and Jens (Jenesis models and crafts) reviews, also I have just received my first Wingleader book on the early Lanacasters, and its brilliant, thank you again, I would highly reccomnend this book, whatever scale Lancaster someone is planning to build.. Will also get the Spitfire book once I get the Kotare kit. (prob Mk 1a Mid or the Mk V when it is released. Are there any similar publications for the B-17, or will I have to look at the book you got from the US recently ? Thank you as always for your brilliant content Kind regards Mark
I wish Wingleader would do a series on the B-17, but it would probably be the British ones?
I have the early and the mid. I really, really want to get the early as spot on as I can, so it'll be the mid first as a trial run. I'll do the early as K9789 - the first ever Spitfire delivered to an operational squadron, with the kind help of Iain of the 'A very average modeller' channel, who is making some serial masks for me.

The WNW heritage is very much in evidence, including with the instructions. Now, what would be nice would be a between the wars fighter/light bomber say one of the Hawker types, although we have IBG's PZL P11.

Nigel mate I need help if possible ? I'm struggling to source trainer yellow from outlaw? Everyone seems out of stock. I appreciate I can go with another colour but I want to pre shade first and as we both know other yellows don't cover darker colours well hence you previously advised outlaw. And as this is a special gift for someone I don't want to mess it up using another yellow. Do you have any contacts that I can go get a jar of this stuff ? Cheers Nigel

Thats the Mk1a Mid, you can still get this one, it's just been released.
No doubt a lovely kit Nige. But, I am getting a bit burned out with seeing tons of Spitfire kits being released.
Wonder if they willl ever do a hurricane?
I expect so......
This and Armas 1/48 Hurricane must be the most accurate ww2 aircraft out there
