On a recent overnight backcountry trip the smallest segment became absolutely stuck in the extended position. I worked on it for some time, including using the hemostat to grip the tiny segment and push it back in. I gave up and carried it out in the vulnerable extended (just the tip) position inside the case. Even after watching the video at home the next day, I must admit that I was skeptical about the simplicity of this method. Now I know why the accessory kit INCLUDES two rubber bands. It worked. Thanks, Tenkara USA, for making a great product and for providing support.
Thank you. I adapted your technique to my $15 chinese fishing rod (fiber glass), and it worked great. Just had to unscrew the rear plug to gain access to all the telescopic segments and smashed the segments vertically against the floor.
Amazing. My tip was stuck and I had been working hard on getting it loose. I was getting ready to try this, I had tied the rubber band on and did three solid hits just trying to get the feel for how to do this and before I even got a chance to really work on the pole it came loose. thanks this is great.
OMG it worked brilliantly! Tried everything from the tenkara bum rubber pad to using a soft grip plier, but simple physics works! I did worry about hitting on hard surface would break the rod so I used a magazine as padding. Great tip!
oh my god thanks alot sir, my chinese rod stuck and i use all my mighty powers and nearly broke it. as i though this method ridiculous, it WORKS FANTASTICLY after 10 taps
This was the only method that worked on a very stuck tip. 4 strikes and it was free! I blame the stuck tip on an 18" baracuda caught on my 12 ft Iwana. It's always the fish or flies fault.
Thanks. Rubber band worked great for me. Salesperson suggested the standard way to extend the sections was to make a false cast. Right out of the box I tried this and every section got stuck. Maybe this is not the right way to extend the sections.
i have a rod like this and one of the segemts is stuck and it wont come down, it feels like it sstuck on it self in the lowest segment, how can you take these apart?
There is a screw cap on the handle side, just unscrew that to remove the segments. Here's a more recent video we did: ua-cam.com/video/PoQJGzY-YTc/v-deo.html

Use latex or thin plastic gloves. Superb grip and thin enough to enable accurate manipulation of sections. Works brilliantly.
Dude thank you so much it worked 👍👍👍
Worked great! My tip was really stuck and this method freed it - took about 20 wacks!

Awesome tip, thanks for posting it!
It worked. Brilliant. Thanks!
I’m going to try this when I get home tonight. It will be 3am and next to my wife so next I will probably have to buy a new pole.
I have a pen fishing rod and it all comes down except the top part is stuck and I can't get it all the way down
How do I remove the segments from each other to begin with?
