That was up there with the most insane duels ever casted by Dkayed. Reminds me of the absurd Tiaraments Strongest mirror matches - seriously though, those chain links were absolutely retarded. Both of em were on some hard crack lol!
Yeah lab mirror can be so stressful with all the grinding and complex interactions of one player's traps triggering the opponent's monsters and vice versa
@@jimtsap04 yeah and Rollback just took the deck to new absurdity, the fact that you can - furniture discard Rollback on turn zero adds another layer of disruption to Lab.
I wonder how Lab/Plunder is now with Rollback added. Dkayed was all over that deck a couple of months back.
@@yaroubthayer-752 plunder relies kinda hard on the furniture so them being semi'd removes some much needed consistency so I don't think it's a good variant atm
I hope you do a lot more "no Maxx C" tournaments. Hopefully at least once a month rather than every other so-many months.
There was no drastic meta change, going 2nd wasn't any worse than it already is anyway; just more decks doing well that might otherwise lose to the roach, more strategic play with tech cards that decks might not have room for otherwise. Even with everything else the same, the game is just a better overall experience without Maxx C.
Without Maxx c more people were on nibb which is a much better spectator experience than Maxx c imo, Maxx c just look to see if they have an answer or lose but with the rock you get like an impending sense of doom as the game unfolds, much more interesting to see nibb and other cards like the duel links classic econ take

Ok now we know. A game without Maxx C is more fair. Every tournament before this has had games decided solely by the maxx C challenge but now not only have we not had any such games but a greater variety of handtraps, decks, and strategies.
The deck variety in particular doesn't look that different imo. Only Exosister crawled back from the mud somehow.

In the meta where every broken cards are available MaxxC is not the problem. It is the balance needed to put combo decks under control and make sure 2nd turn player have a fighting chance against the bs unbreakable board and endless negate.
The craziest thing about gearfried, in my opinion, is that it's obtainable via legacy pack.
Good luck with that tho. The best I ever got from them was a Galaxy Tomahawk and Cards of Fate.

I remember seeing some people complain in the MDM discord about some of these games taking to long and saying “wow maxx c is totally much worse than this” sarcastically and it’s like

Definitely hope we get these custom ban tournaments more regularly, maybe Konami will even try a Maxx C limit/ban themselves for testing. I get why some people are concerned that these long duels are more prone to getting cheesed with burn/heal cards but that is still more enjoyable than waiting for my opponent to set a board full of negates and they then use Maxx C on my turn because turn 1 advantage is not enough apparently

The problem to be called out here is that all those decks take too long to set up, and Maxx C only shuts their turn down so you can pretty much skip some, giving the illusion of saved time. We need a meta consisting of only mid range decks to truly solve the issue.
Maxx "C" is not the problem with Yu-Gi-Oh! It's monsters that negate. If the only cards that could negate, were spells and traps, going first wouldn't be the advantage that it is and "C" wouldn't be needed to draw into "the out". Try running a tournament where EVERYTHING is legal (even pot of greed) except any monster that negates. If negate boards don't exist, everybody gets to play the game.

That's why some people just take "The Maxx "C" Challenge" because you *can* kill people through MaxxC, the issue is that if they don't die they usually have too much advantage.
I mean, if the opponent turn is RIGHT AFTER YOUR TURN, then the situation just get worse. Some powerful board breaker such as DRNM or rivalry, literally skip killing opponent through normal mean, which mean then you can't win that turn in general
That assumes you can kill them that turn 100% through their board AND what they draw into. Which operates on alot of assumptions. And assumed you didn’t get Maxx C’d turn 1
this show how it's insanely hard to play Labry properly in real life. You have to remember every single triggers and how many trap do you still have in the deck. First time playing labry in OCG I made mistake left and right.

@@youtubeenjoyer7279basically it, with Maxx C, it becomes the going second card, and is a going second card that requires no skill, you just drop it and hope for the best, without it, you have a lot of deck space for a variety of tech cards and enables a lot of diversity, all 4 of the top 4 games and final were interesting back and fourth games, no game ended on turn 1.
Even infernoble that currently makes the strongest going first board(besides crap like gimmick lock and Calamity) never got to it desired board but managed to have a great back and fourth game and win with strategy.
That was a great top 16, i hope you continue to do maxx c free tournaments once in a while

I’ve only been play infernoble since it came out and I’ve loved it.
Feels really adaptive, like even with your main endboards all being pretty much the same, I find it very fun to build them in so many different ways, and if you open the hero package the hand knowledge is so nice, especially with diabell for draws and being able to pop some nice cards out of their hands due to her higher attack stat

It's the most persistent and omnipresent one however, as broken decks eventually get banned or powercrept but maxx c is the boogeyman that stalks every format and only gets better and better over time

Maxx C makes the top decks better because they have smaller engines and thus can run more Maxx C counters. A lot of rogue decks have really fat engines and can't fit all the stuff they need to counter Maxx C.
It's kind of silly we have to devote like 1/3rd of our deck to countering an auto win card. People clearly don't wanna deal with it. Konami should listen. Remember when konami used to ban cards like pot of greed because every deck was using them?

Make all tourneys in a month without the bug when the month has skippable released cards (Tistina, the Divinity that Defies Darkness)
People play Labrynth to avoid dealing with Maxx "C" as often. Yet without Maxx "C", those handtrap reliant decks that are currently on to become a lot less consistent, so decks like Labrynth end up doing better in a strange sort of irony.
Then you have Infernoble, which is a deck that often just wins once it sets up past a certain point. A couple hand traps aren't always enough, but then Maxx "C" draws into even more of them to make it harder to get to that point, especially when going second and having to play through established disruptions on top of that.
The problem is clearly the hand traps that actually DO something, but a singular card essentially being a self contained engine to facilitate getting TO those hand traps more often is making those high variance deck builds a lot more successful than they're meant to be.
if only we could actually have this in Master Duel. Maxx C minigame is annoying.

No Maxx c and the tier 0 deck didn't win. Only tcg players could have told you that. Imagine no maxx c and 2 trap decks made it to the finals. Almost like Maxx c never kept any 1 deck in check and instead just helped whoever drew it win even harder

@@stackers916 the other guy is right. Maxx c doesn't keep the combo decks in check it just allows whoever who draws it and resolves it to basically win the duel. And tcg just hit a tier 0 with snake eyes but before that was a very diverse meta with pak crying about it online. The ocg is also experiencing a similar meta. But compare decks from both sides. You'll see tcg has more diversity in their non engine compared to ocg where EVERY deck has 3 maxx c and most decks have 3 ash with majority of the rest using called by and crossout. Their actual decks are about as similar as the original staple meta that requires a banlist where every deck had reborn, pog, delinquent duo, etc. Like only going 2nd decks in ocg don't run ash but they still run 3 maxx c cause seriously why not? Why would you ever not run that card if it is allowed?

Great tournament, not exactly a huge shift in meta decks, but it's certainly better not seeing players having their turns skipped and autolosing to the roach.
The labrynth mirror was insane, fter the 3rd turn I would have lost track of everything and made misplays previously though impossible.

The Maxx c free tournament was really nice. I feel as though once every 3 to 4 months is a bit long to wait for this tournament style though.

Nah lab also somewhat care about maxx c since they still need to special summon a couple of times to get things going, but the main reason they got better was less people running ash since it's not mandatory for so many decks like it is with maxx c legal

Anything that beats snake-eyes gets my support. Usually I hate Lab, but salute to the Lab players
I play Lab, but with the 2 floodgates of Epidemic virus and Dimensional Barrier, and even then, Ive had the greatest duels with them. Mostly because even if i can get those cards onto the field, my opponent will counter play by destroying specifically those cards, we actually have a back and forth, and win or lose, we're at turn 6 and I'm actually having fun. Shout out to VS, Kashtira, Tearlament, Swordsoul, and even snakes eyes in one Duel, those were the most fun in a while.
