    Another really interesting video. My pond build has stalled with all the bad weather since Christmas so haven’t actually ordered my heater yet but as most places are waiting for the next batch to arrive I’m not in that much of a rush yet. Really pleased to see that your cost calculations are less than £1.50 per day as that is what I’m budgeting for. Again, many thanks for all the stats.👍😊🐟🈲

      I never thought about getting an ASHP when I was rebuilding but I did think about adding as much Insulation as possible. I really ought to insulate the pipes inside the Filter house as the average room temp is about 10 - 12 Degrees this time of year and the water is 17, so a potential for heat loss too.

    Amazing mate do you think its possible to hold its temps if you dont cover pond ?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  Місяць тому

      Cheers for watching. With the pond uncovered the ASHP would be working more and costing more in electricity but if you could find something to cover the pond with like a Tarpaulin of sheet of some sort it would reduce the wind chill massively and make it more efficient.

    Another recent video, giving running costs, the more information available gives those that are looking into ashp a better understanding. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work. Stay safe.

      In answer to your Question, Yes it will heat to 40C but without knowing the Water volume, insulation, covers and Weather I am not in a position to confirm it. If it is a small volume of water it will be a lot easier. If it is a larger volume that about 2,500Gallons then it may struggle. Ring Simon at AES Ltd and tell him I sent you. Give him the specs and he will confirm exactly what unit would be best.

    Hi Kev, with cold weather we've been having around here I was expecting it to cost you a fair bit more than it has especially with it set at 17c, it has definitely been put to the test this past month and shown it's up to the task which is always good news, if you keep sitting on them cold coppings you'll end up with a case of farmer Giles lol, stay safe.
    Rob.

      Cheers Rob, that's for the concerns on my nether regions lol. Good camera angles hide the little mat or my huge ass. Yes you are right it got a good test run over the month and I am really please with the results one thing I didn't mention was that when I looked at the Graph of the temp it was very consistent between 17.2 & 16.2 so in reality it was set at 17 but it actually averaged out at 16.6. Which is not a problem and shows the ASHP is working as per the parameters and the benefits of having a Stepped Invertor rather than on/off Invertor.

      I can’t complain except it just sits there silently heating the water. No flashing lights or anything. It’s like a ninja heater. I seriously have to keep looking at my app to see if it is working.

    Not bad that, cheaper than the electric heater. Still got mine all covered and amazingly all that rain we have had the pond base has kept dry. Can’t wait till I get my concrete blocks and start. If we ever get out of the covid situation you will have to pop round I am only down the road. Soon has I start I will send you some pictures 👍

      Best question yet........ Please do not quote me on this but these are the figures I based it on and as you know with heating, the weather is the biggest variable (Other peoples set ups will vary) PLUS these figures will only relate to my set up.
      This may be a long and complicated explanation and difficult to prove because I can only have one unit set up at a time but based on previous years figure and averaged out here goes.
      If we work on 90 days of adverse and 90 days of mild weather for both units I can give you a good estimate on the running costs.
      Elecro 3kW heater cost £2.33 per day in Mild x 90 days = £209.70
      Elecro 3kW Heater cost £4.75 per day in Adverse x 90 = £427.50
      This equates to £637.20 per 6 months
      Remora ASHP cost 85.5p per day in Mild x 90 days = £76.50
      Remora ASHP cost £1.32 per day in Adverse x 90 days = £118.80
      This equates to £195.30 per 6 months
      A difference of £441.90
      The costs of the Elecro on E Bay is around £500
      The cost of the ASHP is £1,700
      The difference is £1,200
      This means a return on investment would be roughly 2 years & 8 Months and with a 7 year Warranty is a good deal

    Again great video, but my brain is no good with computer readings, makes sense and shows that it is cost effective, my pond is 3000 gallons and not covered yet, this coming winter I will polly carb, I'm also looking at covering my two bakki showers, which will be moved when I get a drum filter maybe 2 years away, lol, money money lol. But I love koi.

    hi pal what the difference in the remora i12 and the f10 model apart from the price because i was think off get remora f10 as my pond is 2500 gallons and the f10 is cheaper lol

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 роки тому +1

      Cheers for watching. I’m not at home at present so I’ve limited access but I think the difference could be the type of Invertors used. The i9 is the next model below mine for the variable invertor. So the f10 may be an On/Off Invertor. Speak to Simon at AES and he will help you out.

    Can this be used to just heat up 1000 liter's of water, to 45c, The water is inside and insulated with 50mm insulation. Thanks

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 роки тому +1

      This model is possibly a little too big for 1,000 litres but why would you want to heat to 45C. That is 5 Degrees more than what you should safely heat a Hot Tub let alone a Koi Pond

    • @auttocarcom
      @auttocarcom 3 роки тому

      @@AKoiEnthusiast Thanks want to heat water in a storage tank, than use that water for heating small tanks to keep at 25c, like heat exchanger. A bit like a DIY central heating system. The storage water will give enough of a buffer. Don't want to direct heat my small tanks. Plus these air heat pumps would work out cheaper than me running 10 x 300w aquarium heaters. Although I am thinking I should go for normal Air heat pump that heats water to 55c . What do you think.

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 роки тому +1

      I wanted the lower model but like you say they were out of stock or on the slow boat, hence why I went for the i12 but having said that it may have been a little bit more money to buy but would be more efficient and save me more in the long run on running costs. I think I may have took their last unit.

    I thought these devices were rather suitable for keeping the water temperature at 24~26 degrees Celsius in the current season, but I wonder how they are working now and how much electricity they cost?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 роки тому +1

      Cheers for watching and commenting. Yes they are perfect for keeping the temperature at that temperature but I am not sure who would want to keep it that high in the UK. The current water temperature on my Pond is 20 Degrees without any heating. Personally I don't see any advantages in keeping it any higher, in fact when the water was up to 25 degrees a few weeks ago I used it to actually cool it back down to 21 Degrees.

      @@mark5tytshort770 The Thermotec was a lot bigger and heavier in size. The performances and specs of the Remora was better. Everything I needed like, Wifi, 5 to 40 Degree set points, Condensate pack, covers, Feet, Cable, plug, 7 year Warranty, High efficiency and Customer Service was all included with the price. It was more powerful and was simply plug and play. I could not fault the knowledge of AES Ltd plus it was recommended for Koi Ponds as well as Swimming Pools. It is perfect for what I needed in the UK. Not everyone has the same set up so it might not suit everyone. Having said that all the people that bought Remora are more than happy and are saving money on running costs
