One of the best Tour de France's in the last few years in my opinion. Very exciting and tense all the up till Geraint Thomas crossed the line in the TT. Amazing footage.
I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. Took Richie Porte out of the race. Wrecked Tejay van Garderen's Tour when he was third overall. Took Rigoberto Uran out of contention, from sixth overall. Hurt Bardet, Froome and Landa. If it was just one or two contenders, you could say it was their bad luck or they did something wrong. But not when basically everyone went down. It just seems completely irresponsible to put something like that in a three-week Grand Tour.
@@beeble2003 the issue is you are using people's opening week positions, before the high mountains. Van Garderen, even at his best form possible in 2018, would never have been able to retain P3. Up until after the Alps, it ruined their GC when they were x overall don't really matter since the GC race hadn't properly started.

Roglic, Thomas and Dumoulin chasing a lone Rafal Majka just 8 seconds ahead while Kruijswijk is losing contact in the background about to be swept up by the group containing Martin, Landa, Bardet, Zakarin while Big Bob Jungels and Chris Froome drop off that 2nd group. this shot is amazing and with the music makes this part so great.
Despite the cheaters, the TDF is still the best sport's moment of the year. It's not just a french competition. The fabulous legend of the TDF begin in some columbian's mounts, goes through an australian desert, and perhaps near an american farm or a russian winter... and of course most of european countries, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Nederland, Ireland, RU...
