The raga is Yaman( or kalyani), he announces both the hindustani and carnatic names at the outset. He says he will play the alaap in the hindustani style and then the rest. To me it seems he was inspired to blend the two, in a form more based on the scale.
Don 't waste time making arguments and disputes meaninglessness but think that you cannot expect or imagine that who comes forward to bridge the gap created by this VIOLIN MAMMOTH called fondly his fans , super fans and even critics (these categories people are not so rare --who prefer other some dwarfs in front of the late all time genius in VIOLIN ART on this glob. This musician was a magician too in his field who took the #avatar of fiddler , a soft spoken simple living and highly disciplined ordinary man but a certain DIVINITY on face. I got the opportunity and fortune to attend numerous concerts of this legend and I think the most unforgettable incident on my life is I could lend a pen to M S Gopalakrishnanj sir when his own ball pen became useless .He happily used and signed the Boucheron (as he was accepting remuneration on a programme in Chennai and smilingly said 'thanks to me........

Unbelievable imagination !! So many sounds produced in the Tanam !! Unparalleled is the exact term as someone mentioned earlier !! This being a Carnatic concert.. please correct the raga name to "Kalyani". Yaman Kalyan is the equivalent raga in Hindustani music.

Yaman (hindustani) = Kalyani (carnatic).... But, Yaman Kalyan of Hindustani is different, it contains Shuddh Ma too..
