The King is lost..संगीताची उत्तम जाण असलेल्या प्रत्येक दिग्गजाची आज हीच भावना आहे.कलेमुळे मोठे झालेले अनेक कलाकार आहेत पण ज्यांच्यामुळे कला मोठी झाली अगदी दूर दूर पर्य॔त,असे कलाकार क्वचितचं.उस्ताद रशीद खान साहेब हे ह्या दुसऱ्या गटातले.रामपुर-सहस्वान घराण्याचा हा अवलिया आणि असामान्य कलाकार संगीताच्या इतिहासात जाता जाता ही षड्जाइतकाचं महत्त्वपूर्ण ठरला आणि राहील. मंद्र सप्तकातील धीरगंभीर आलापी,मोजक्या पण गहन अर्थाची बंदीश,थेट ह्रदयाला आत घालणारी सौंदर्यपूर्ण बोलआलापी, कोरीव सरगम,पल्लेदार तान,आश्चर्यचकित करणारी लयदार गायकी,आणि तीनही सप्तकात एक सारखा लागणारा मखमली आवाज. एकाचं गायकाच्या गळ्यात ही गायनातली सगळी सौंदर्यस्थळं होती. त्यांनी मंद्रातला षड्ज लावला की वाटायचं..बस्सं! कान तृप्त, मन तृप्त. अभिजात भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीतातला ख्याल(सोच) हा शब्द या तपस्वी गायकाने आपल्या गाण्यातून सार्थ केला.आणि इतरांना ही त्याचा आनंद दिला.सकाळी तोडी , संध्याकाळी मारवा आणि रात्री यमन याचं पारायण करावं आणि अक्षरशः त्यात काय काय गाऊन ठेवलं याचा विचार(असर) पुढच्या एक महिन्यापर्यंत चालावा अश्या गायकीला अख्खा देशचं आज मुकला आहे.एक युग संपलं आहे. ईश्वरीय देणगीचा आणि अत्युच्य साधनेचा हा शेवट शरीररुपाने जरी असला तरी he will miss till eternity🌷

I like Arabic music - so are many including Asha bhosle. Religion is never a matter in music. It is the competitive politics in all religions to prove historically they are superior all fine arts are dragged. If one reads the origin of Saregamapada swarms, Hinduism at its best in Harappo Mohanjadaro. That is why Pastian is fond of Hindusthani. Ustad Rashid did not act like Ameer Kusro or fanatic Muslims to claim this music form as Islamic but as a former developed by all cultures over time. I listen to Abida parveen most of the time. Being a hindu, I see a reverence of her sufiism but that does not mean her singing is anything else. It is pure music. Her classical are buland. Rashidji are soothing and melodious for morning listening. It is upto individuals I wish people read how this music developed before the religions are born. In fact Cristians need to read more about the ancient music. Just because modern instruments are developed English music cannot claim anything big. Thanks to Hondusthanic singers, who prevented this erosion & history is still in tact as well as human fine emotions & instincts. Money & religions can not buy these - Gopi
