      Funny how both Swindon's and Peterborough's results dipped when Ron jumped aboard.
      No manager needs to be undermined by being second-guessed by a tactless, petulant, former manager too toxic to get his own stomping ground.

      Let's be honest here. If he is a Black manager why would accept someone like Atkinson coming in a year after calling Desailly a lazy fucking nig**r you know the rest. Oh and for all fairness you can't call someone a cracker a gammon a EDL racist either to someone just because they're white too. That is just as bloody racist as what Atkinson did.

    You can understand why a manager wouldn’t want the cameras around... As good as it was to see behind the scenes of a football team but Ron himself would never accept some of the things he tried to do to Bleasdale or Iffy and once he’s around the place you can understand why a young coach would get insecure as they were clearly being undermined.

    Let’s be honest, if I’ve got someone trying to offer me advice from a deck chair or a golf course then I’d be annoyed to be honest. I think like Iffy said, it would’ve been good to have a discussion before the project, understand his stance, how valid his opinions are and address the racism comments then it could’ve been better. On the other side, I think even if Ron did that and made the effort then I still think it would’ve only delayed the inevitable with disagreements through the season. Shame because this could’ve helped Ron image wise and there was value in Ron helping Iffy. Could’ve been a great story but it wasn’t to be

    It was clearly a PR exercise on Ron Atkinson's behalf to try and rehabilitate himself after his racist insult and no coincidence that Iffy Onoura was black. It was all "I'm Big Ron, it's all about me". All that said, Onoura was dismissive from the start and wasn't interested from the get-go. Surely he could have gained some experience from someone of Atkinson's managerial experience and did come across as quite arrogant. He didn't keep Swindon up and as far as I know hasn't done much in the game afterwards. Six of one and half a dozen of the other.

    In the case of both Swindon and Peterborough, the real motive for them agreeing to be in the programme was to gain cheap publicity for the football clubs, with the knock-on effect of generating more revenue. Ron was just a paid puppet in this game - in reality, his presence was never going to arouse anything other than suspicion and insecurity amongst the managers and coaching staff. Despite what Barry Fry claims, Ron being at both clubs ended in failure.

    Ron encapsulates everything that is dead in modern football. Iffy knew it. Anicdotes and cheap gags.
    If the club owner analysed what Ron did as his job then he produced a net loss. He was a distraction. He was using his name to try get back into football at the expense of people trying to get a start. Going on holiday and phoning the manager before the game...
    Ron should have kept his stories for the grand kids because thats what he should be doing.

    Iffy is right about the whole Bryan Robson thing. What does it matter if he rings him or Big Ron does? The loan players in question are going to the same place and are playing with the same players, under Iffy anyway. Would Bryan Robson really have gone "No I don't trust Iffy you can't borrow them, oh what's that Big Ron is there, yeah sure have em for the rest of the season!" Premiership and Championship players go on loan to League One clubs all the time and are willing to do so to get experience, if they have a good season chances are their parent club will have them back or they can get a permanent contract somewhere else. Big Ron being there or not doesn't make a iota of difference.

    • @alpromotions
      @alpromotions 7 років тому +2

      Cash Back Robbo played under BIG Ron and they have a personal relationship and in most aspects of life it's who you know. I'm sure he would loan out better players via Ron than Iffy

    • @michaeljenkins7024
      @michaeljenkins7024 5 років тому +1

      Bollocks mate. If the player's any good whatsoever then multiple clubs will be after him for a loan. That's when little advantages like having a personal relationship with the player's manager can be the difference.

    • @Scallion_D
      @Scallion_D 5 років тому +4

      As Kamara says Prem managers don't loan out their talent willy nilly to clubs that they think won't develop them properly.
      That's how Ron would've helped get them to Swindon.
      Moronic move from Iffy.

    • @Wally-H
      @Wally-H 2 роки тому

      Agreed, a load of bollocks spoken by Kamara who was just backing the project because Sky were his employers. If Robson was looking to get a couple of youth players some match experience he wouldn't have refused a chat with iffy.

    So Poyet and Wise completely changed the clubs immidiate fortunes...so how was that with big wads? the old adege it's not so much what you know but rather who you know and who you are come to mind, I tend to think of Iffy's position like this had things been different and Swindon had success, how much of the credit would of been given to him?,, i think that's a big part of resenting such a high profile figure at the club, add to that there was no icebreaking period to have a respect for each other coupled with the clear racist incident which in lieu is what a social bonding period is looking to address, .....this was never going to work as the naive hierarchy at the club first thought......hindsight eh?, yeahi know wonderful thing..p
