    I get a real vibe of looking down from above on a beach. The brown paper really reminds me of shaded sand.
    Glad you brought the red/yellow back in.
    I like this piece.

      @chrisloudart think there's an issue with UA-cam again not showing my comments all the time. Left two on your Stimulate composition for abstract art video the other day. Weird.
      I was sharing about my latest art, posted in The Shinery on Facebook.

      That is really weird. I wonder why they don't show up. I went back to see if I could locate them, but didn't see any. The art on The Shinery is wonderful!!! Nice work!

    I appreciate your authenticity - walking away can be complicated when one is in the midst of "playing". I think you did a good save there in the end. Tissue paper dots are awesome- more texture underneath? Again thank you for sharing your process, I enjoy watching and listening to you.

    I just finished laying down collage paper with no intention, just to play and watched this waiting for medium to dry. It's a great way to get the creative juices flowing with no pressure. I too have trouble walking away and coming back with a fresh look. I like what you ended up with!

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  8 місяців тому

      Thanks, Laurie! Sounds like we were on the same brain waves. Yeah, it's not always easy to walk away and it can definitely be challenging to look with fresh eyes. I usually flip the orientation before I walk away, so it forces me to look at a different view when I get back.

  • @emmanuelpower2439
    @emmanuelpower2439 8 місяців тому +2

    Very surprising, as I was filled with despair when you put down your polka for paper, covering up so many interesting things. But you always pull it off so well.
    I do a lot of walking away... anything from 1 minute to one year on some pieces😊😅😊

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks, Emmanuel! Yeah, I sat on it at that stage for a day and just felt like it wanted to be played with a little more. I might have overplayed with it a little, but play I did.
      😂 Funny you say that about walking away. I was looking at a few unfinished pieces and I found 3 that I walked away from over a year ago.

      Hey Summer! I'm so glad to hear that. Scraps are one of my go to materials when I'm looking at a piece that just isn't working. Adding a couple of small pieces of paper can give a little more character to the art.

    Very nice. 🎨🖌️ A hint to help with SPLATTER! Thin the paint and fill a brush...(I mostly use a fan brush) and TAP the brush against another brush held in the opposite hand. It works great!! 🖌️🎨Paint on!!!😊😊Ok....I just saw you WERE tapping..the video was going to fast! Haha! Therefore...thin the paint and your problem is resolved!

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I love using the fan brush technique you describe. That is usually my go to method. I played around after this video and realized the paint I had success with was a thinner paint, so it worked well right out of the container. I thinned the paint in the video with water (made it too thin) and then tried right out of the tube (too thick). When I tried again with less water, worked exactly how I wanted. That was a good problem to solve. I appreciate your suggestions! 😊👍

    Hi Chris. I’m new to your channel and loving the content. I’m more of a figurative artist and I’m trying to play more and explore abstraction and you are really helping with that so thank you. In one of your videos you used a tool for measuring the rule of thirds. I’d like to know what it’s called? Or do you have a link for purchase. Thank you.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  8 місяців тому

      Thanks so much, Paul! I think you're referring to the golden ratio calipers. I made my own, but here are some links for you: Golden mean calibers - amzn.to/3NRSzdo (these will work for art pieces up to 12 inches)
      Here is a larger one on Etsy - etsy.me/3r5vY46

    What are you trying to say with this piece? 🤔

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  6 місяців тому +1

      Good question! Any thoughts?

    • @blackitikatt533
      @blackitikatt533 6 місяців тому +1

      @@chrisloudart: No... I'm asking you as the artist; what are you trying to convey to the viewer? 🤔

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  6 місяців тому

      Well, in regards to the video, I want the viewer to come away being inspired to intuitively play and experiment when creating without a specific finished piece in mind. As far as the artwork itself, I want the viewer to come up with their own thoughts as to what the piece says to them. I didn't have a certain message, meaning or reaction that I was aiming to have the viewer engage with. I realize that might seem like I'm skirting your question, but that's where I'm at with this one.
